Just FYI, you CAN change it so you can both confirm wall and icicle with left click; under control change the hero to Mei and under hero subheading change "Ice Wall Confirmation Input" to secondary fire. Cheers

the projectile isn't just faster, it's 50% wider than a hanzo arrow. it's huge. almost a big as a kiriko projectile

One thing he doesn’t talk about is maximizing blizzards value. It can be used to nullify most tank ultimates and disrupt aggressive ultimates like blade. Also, mei wall can disrupt bap lamp, transcendence los, Moira coal, etc etc. it can also be used offensively to boost your high noon cass for better los and in some situations, it can boost dva bomb above barriers.
true, and if you set up the Wall vertical and not horizontally on a Bastion he would have to shoot more Pillers if you know how to dip side to side. if you put it Horizontal all he has to do is shoot 1 pillar and he can Peek easily.
Good guide very helpful, also know that your wall is good for blocking dmg for you and your team aswell as forcing certain rotations that allow you to have an advantage.
yeah its good for blocking enemy ults, but it primarily should be used to catch people out or cut the enemy team in half
Canceling your abilities (wall & cryo) can also be a good way to stay unpredictable during 1v1s. It messes up the enemies timing. Example: coming out of cryo while enemy is reloading.
also from a mei otp from the longest time I reccomend knowing your maps, you can use wall to both distract and move yourself to highground
if u cancel the wall manually before it breaks the cooldown will be 10 seconds but if u let it break by itself the cooldown will be 6 to 7 seconds only
We could use an intermediate-to-advanced guide as well since this one seems targeted toward beginners.
Mei cryo also reloads you ammo!

Mei is really good at poke and brawl which alone is good, but also helps support and combat dive which is very unusual.
Damn I have around 70 hours in mei and didn’t know you can freeze enemies faster with primary.

That tip on switching primary and secondary is massive definitely do this and you can switch what button wall place is

I started playing overwatch 2 near the half season patch note of season 2 and when I unlocked MEI I thought she was ass but then the more I played I got good as her and now she’s my main dps

Walling is especially useful for orisa, cuz usually when she uses her spear she puts someone in a corner so if u wall there’s 2 outcomes 1: u get her trapped in the corner. 2: (the one I like and get) u get the orisa trapped at the top of the ice so it’s a free kill.

You can actually make it where wall placement is secondary fire then change the primary and secondart fire on mouse.
I've been playing a lot of mei recently and I think she's insane.

i build mei's ult in 10 seconds thats my fastest record ever just by starting a round and after 10 seconds we get a team kill like mei is really a god her ult charging is the fastest right now but i notice one important thing about mei is that if u cancel the wall manually before it breaks the cooldown will be 10 seconds but if u let it break by itself the cooldown will be 6 to 7 seconds only

Im very late but I found out that if you time it right, you can wall on top of bastion’s ult, did it on accident but it saved me lol

I didn't really learn anything new here but I've played hundreds of hours of Mei - the main message I got was just to manage my cooldowns/tempo better?
its 5 months later...Mei's Primary fire damage is now 70dps. How do we run Mei into Orisa, Kiriko, Lifeweaver, Bastion, Sojourn? Please @Samito send help!

I don’t play Mei much but as a Sombra main with the occasional Tracer play she’s annoying. But after I played this game of comp and it was my Mei playing that helped win on Route 66 (enemy team was always in our back line so I walled them off) I wanna learn to play Mei.
I play with a control on pc so my aim is shit. Junkrat is my main dps because I can just spam bombs, even behind cover. Lucio is my main support because he’s the easiest to heal the whole team with and his gun is decent when dumping into a crowd. Booping people away from the objective is good too. For tank DVA is my main because she can just keep shooting and shooting. Not much characters are controller friendly lol. This many headshots is insane to me

Every game is a team diff, maybe once every 3 games is actually skill based so doesn't really matter in the end

Can anyone explain to me why you would blizzard infront of the mei wall when the enemy team is behind the wall? Doesn't it only work on direct LoS? Wouldn't the wall then block off the LoS?
1) Friendly Mei wall is the only obstacle that does not block blizzard's freeze. It does block the thrown projectile that causes freeze
2) What is better to do is press Q while the wall is up, but break it before the projectile hits it. This catches them off guard and they have a smaller window to escape. Not really necessary at ranks where nobody is predicting who has ult anyways

The wall can help protect the ultimate from DM, sigma grasp, orisa spin and genji deflect. Then you could break the wall to get direct LoS with the frozen enemies.
@@timber8507 This contradicts the first comment of ArtilleryCamel tho, who said that the friendly wall does indeed not block LoS to enemies. What is correct now?

@@CaptainTed I believe ArtilleryCamel's explanation on that interaction is true. I'm pretty sure the freeze pierces through the wall. What I tried to explain in my previous comment was a tactic or strategy on how to utilize that gameplay feature. Wall (break LoS) > ultimate > wait until freeze is complete > cancel wall (open LoS) > icicle to the head > kill. The reason for the wall is to block certain CDs that counters the ultimate.
Edit: I'm unsure if cryo blocks the ultimate though.

How do you use mei when it's you againt a whole team?
If they buff Mei, it has to be her wall. Doom ult can break through it and the slow effect will hit you if you are on the other side. Frustrating.
walling is the most difficult for me, always putting it in front of them...

Sucks that I didn't learn too much off of this, other than the 100 spray dps. Also thought icicle bodyshots were 75 not 80.
But yeah, otherwise great guide, I may not have learned a lot but others who don't know the character definitely will.
A bronze to gm would be very useful with mei
what u mean nothing u can do there ? all are closing in on u so just blizzard everything and u can still get 1 or 2 kills and walk out alive and ur heal will be ready by then and just heal and done u wont die

I stopped watching at 2:44 because you weren't sure that Mei's spray-effect auto slows down enemies. It's on par with a Catholic Priest being unsure about the significance of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
