Although I wasn't born in Lithuania, my ancestors came from there. Fortunately they left Ponevezh in the early 1870's and made their way to Jerusalem where my grandfather was born. He was taken by the turkish army at age 16 to dig trenches in turkey and at the end of WW1 ended up in the USA, he never made it back to Jerusalem. On his death bed he encouraged my father to move to Israel, I was 16 at the time. I have been here ever since and love my life in theis amazing place. I often think that if my family had never left Lithuania they most likely would not be so fortunate as Sergio's grandmother. I might not have been here to write these words.
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the LORD always, and again I say Rejoice. Thank you for sharing your Grandma's story, she reminds me of the above verses. I am glad that you were able to visit her. ✝️
