@@ThePatriotNurse what's the cause? What's the effect? Thank Isaac Newton for those questions ThePatriotNurse.. btw I have a interestingly weird question does changing your diet change your waste habits? Different color urine and solid then soupy back and forth. With the attacks on the ground transportation industry the only places they can park for a good quality of 5-6 straight sleep is nowhere near healthy places to eat.,sleep or anything else. The people who deliver everything are treated like trash even if they served in the military prior to going into the freight hauling business.even Walmarts are being disrespectful, rude to us but they want their goods delivered and if y'all want the country to shut down let a freight hauler know to do like the 70's strike minus the violence unless required to protect themselves. You see nothing shuts down if freight is still moving not even the government. Need Intel on how the road warriors can still eat healthy with little food choices. That's your assignment ThePatriotNurse for the New Year if we make it till January 20th, 2025. With all the WWIII nuclear war talk going on.
I go in for pain shots in my spine. Last time I went they asked if I was ok with them giving me blood if necessary. I said no. I am not vaxed and don't want blood from someone who is!
There should be papers you sign when you go in about transfusions & a DNR if you don't want to be revived should your heart stop. Has to be for that visit not an earlier one. Ask if they don't offer. Also if there's anyone you don't want visiting you or being given information about you.
They asked hubby last time he went in for ablation. He asked if he needed it could they give him unvaccinated blood and they acted as it nobody had ever asked that before. My friend went in for a transfusion and they gave her vaccinated blood. She got blood clots behind her eyes and she can no longer see anything.
Amen to that! I thank the LORD EVERYDAY of late that He moved me to give up processed foods - sugar, sweets, candy, etc at age 19 - pushing 50 and have yet to be ill forore team a few days here and there and I am not on any meds. Life can be hard enough without being ill, much less cooped up in a hospital.
Amen to that. Especially if you have something that isn't obvious like a bone sticking out of your leg, then you are on your own. My husband has had multiple stays in the hospital over the years, the 1st thing I pack for OUR stays in the hospital is cans of LYSOL. I have been looked at sideways by some nurses and commended by others as I spray down the fixtures, doorknobs, light switches, basically everything in the room as long as we are there. I have only left my husband alone once and the scary care he received in our local hospital could have killed him so now we drive an hour, past 2 hospitals, to get care in a hospital I have come to trust.
@ as a RN in hospital I saw this as well. I would tell families that they could bring in better quality foods if they wanted to. No hospital policy against it.
Most bodies need a mixture of the fruits vegetables and meat proteins. It depends on the origin of their ancestry. I personally must start my day with protein. But I'm no good if I don't have vegetables later on. Grains are for feeding livestock and cause lots of problems. Especially if they're over-processed.
Yes, essential oils in hospital room. I used them when my mother was dying and along with her emotional support, it comforted me, her caregivers, and all who visited.
👍🏼definitely. Used them when my partner was in hospital. 😌Nurses said they loved being in the room as it felt calmer and smelled clean. I also brought disinfectant and continually wiped surfaces.
I’ve been in hospitals a lot, not as the patient but as the caregiver. I keep a “hospital go bag” with similar items for myself. I include notebooks and pens as I keep detailed notes of who what why when where, etc
I take an extension cord because the nearest available outlet may not be close enough. Also, i bring a mini tabletop crucifix, a Catholic LED candel with extra batteries my rosary and bible (and other spiritual reading).

Thanks PN. Great advice. As a 38 year RN,I have seen a bunch. I have also been a patient in some pretty bad situations. Main thing to remember folks… if you feel scared/threatened… keep going up the administrative ladder, take great notes… what is happening, who is present, what was said, what time… then if it still is a problem. Sign out AMA. Blessings to all.
I signed out AMA in September 2023. I kept saying that I wanted to go home but they transferred me from ICU to a regular room on a Saturday morning. They wanted to keep me for a few days to do typical outpatient tests that Mon/Tues despite my saying I’d rather schedule them as an outpatient. It would have been an endoscopy and colonoscopy. I left AMA and was escorted out by 2 security guards. They wouldn’t even provide me with any discharge papers/instructions. I got a letter that week from my insurance stating that any additional stay was “medically unnecessary” so I’m glad I trusted my instincts back then. 😊 I’m fine with no subsequent issues! 🙏🤔
Don't leave family alone is 10,000% accurate. My girlfriend had a brain tumor removed during Covid, visitation hours severely limited or not allowed at all. She was unable to use her hands after the surgery, the motor control nerves had been damaged, and she sat there FOR HOURS unable to take a drink of water or even use the nurse's call button. Ask the nurses, they'd say just hit the call button. HER HANDS DON'T WORK SHE CAN'T USE THE BUTTON. This was years ago and she still tears up thinking about it, that time recovering alone did far more emotional damage to her than the tumor did. These people used covid as an excuse to be evil to absolutely helpless people, it's unconscionable. When the democrats asked for forgiveness for their overbearing response to covid, this is why I said NO there will not be forgiveness, this will never be forgiven or forgotten.
I just had 2 surgeries two stays 3 week over all. Had one stupid housekeeper freezing my room every time she came in. Finally I started sitting in front of the thermostat lol. I had charging cables and snacks and warm clothes. They did not allow refilling cups there. Fresh styrofoam for every refill. Good list here, I survived two times. I hope I am done and it was a great move. I was in a wheelchair from 2018 now I can walk with a cane and soon to get off it.
I was thinking the same thing. I have no one to be an advocate. My sister died in June and I was hers, but now I’m alone. I know they have Paid advocates but they won’t stay there 24/7 of course.
@@HopefulEmpath I saw on a show from Scotland there is a movement NOT to have a DNR on file as it seems there is suspicion of it being used as an excuse to place someone on a back burner and help legally justify that lack of care. Let it be known that you want them to make every effort to save you. There is really no reason to have a DNR, especially of the DNR is to prevent an undue burden on family that is no longer there.
Deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush, dry shampoo and liquid shampoo, changes of underwear, a change of comfortable clothing and robe, small mirror, absolutely flip flops for shower, slippers with treads, warm socks, book, small notebook and pen, everyday meds( but tell staff), phone charger- pack these and tell your family advocate where this bag is in your home
Also, bring your own warm bedding. For some crazy reason our hospital system has eliminated manual wheelchairs and warm bedding. You get one thin receiving blanket thickness blanket. Some more like a small doily.
Hospital kicked me out because visiting hours were over, by next morning my husband had a hematoma so big in his neck they had to open him up in the patient room because they couldn’t get him into the OR fast enough and his breathing was compromised. Needless to say, I spoke with the charge nurse and “fired” his night nurse and care techs and he was well taken care of for the remainder of his recovery time in the hospital. This was 2021, staffing was slim, they were just starting to allow family members back into patient rooms. Tag team patient advocates were not permitted.
Going to the hospital is scarier than ever. The last time I was admitted was in September 2020, which was right in the middle of the covid pandemic. It was one of my worst hospital experiences, and my husband wasn't with me at all. I had to go out AMA. The main reason I just lost it had a lot to do with not preparing and packing correctly before going to the emergency room. Of course, I was too sick too suddenly to really prepare well back then. But now, I'm glad I saw this video. It's got great ideas on how to prepare ahead of time. It really warms my heart to hear how loving and spiritual you are and how you're not afraid to incorporate it in your advice and your video in general. The Lord IS with us. Love, faith, and hope will get us through anything. Thank you so much! Blessings to you and to all
The power of attorney was the best thing my husband and I had when he was in the hospital. The staff was able to speak freely with me about his care throughout his stay!
I always bring my hospital go bag when I go to the doctor and I'm glad that I keep the bag. Last time I went to the doctor I was rushed straight to the emergency department!!
Brought my hubby food for my hubby food when he was in hospital. He tried to eat hospital food one time and got so sick. He did better when I brought him food.
Good idea. I went across the street to Walmart in my husband's case. He had a 2 week stay. I bought a rolling cooler to keep stocked fresh wholesome food for him. The hospital food was inedible.
Patriot Nurse, Thank you very much. You and your family have a beautiful and blessed Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year. LORD GOD Bless and stay vigilant.
Great video girl, i myself am a transplant patient, and i have a hospital bag with everything you touched on, also take an extension cord with you, found this out the hard way, outlet over there and your phone cord is to short😅.... nurse's did get a kick out of me having a extension cord... but anyway stay out if you can, care is going down hill.... peace peeps
I spent 11 days in Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City Tennessee with my mom. She broke her femor in 2 places. The staff wss terrible. Only saw RN when they were handing out meds. The rest were only CNA'S. THEY CONSTANTLY WERE NEGLECTING THINGS THAT NEEDED REPLUGGED, CHANGED ETC. I was constantly paging them to do something i couldn't do. In the 11 days, only 1 meal tray was correct. They didn't take her off NPO twice. I hope to nev er go back there. 12:29
This is really awesome information. I was hospitalized for 31 days and I wish I had this info then. I wish PN would do a video on Livanta, the Medicare advocacy program. If you have trouble with anything at the hospital or with a Doctor and you have Medicare you can call them at an 800 number and they will take care of it. They also can approve longer stays in the hospital if you're no ready to be discharged. This company is contracted with Medicare to oversee your treatment.
I found that taking a laptop computer (that was before cell phones) I was able to PROVE that the med I was given for the asthma treatments from a brush fire was giving a bad side effect & showing it to my MD was critical to stopping the med
I’m scheduled to have a knee replacement in February, but things can change in this world right now real fast! Hoping I am able to get it done! (I’m an old school nurse too! ) 😊
Shower shoes are very commonly used in the trucking industry because you never know who has been in the shower or what they had or if the person who cleaned it did what they should have done.
Thank You PN!! If you go the VAMC in Lexington, KY with medication, they will take it all, and walk it down to the pharmacy. They won't give it back to you, but will mail it to you.
I'd be discreet with it, and pack it with my intimate apparel & gowns or jammies. Always research if the over-the-counter or prescription meds react with any new meds or treatments that you may receive during a hospitalization.
Thank you PN for your information. Last week I was in the ED of the local hospital with my stepmother. The conditions inside the hospital were deplorable, no CNAs, housekeeping not cleaning wet floors in the patients' bathrooms, really sad situation for those in pain, and sick and in need of urgent care..
Thank you Patriot Nurse! These are great tips and priceless advice! ❤ everyone please listen to her. Don't think you'll never go to the hospital. Emergencies happen and somethings are out of your of your control. Hope and pray for the best, but plan for the worst!
Thank you for the info. I’m probably going to have to have a cervical surgery, because my first one fell apart. All the information you gave has helped me out so much! God bless you!
My mom went after covid. I tagged along for outpatient procedure. I was irritated from The start. Check in...no data was NOT**?updated. Old phone # old info etc...the gal front desk didnt speak english...!! She had trouble with the computer..but didnt have trouble taking payment!! After procedure.recovery rm. 2 ppl. Asked to give her a med. I said she got it in the o.r.....then a 3rd Nurse came with med. IN Hand** wanting to give it. I said NO. Was very frustrated. If i wasnt ** there..she would have gotten it.
Agree with the food issue! Most still use margarine too!!! Fresh veggies would be good, but protein is the Most important, far and above. This is a great subject, with good coverage, that nobody talks about! Thanks, there are some really good points you made!
Excellent presentation, many of those things on the list I never thought I could bring with me. One of the issues that always concerns me is not being innoculated or other injections while I’m asleep. Thank you for your concern for the patients care.
My family travels a bunch, and something I never considered is flip flops for hotel bathrooms; luckily we haven't got any funky fungi. Great idea, PN, thank you.
I remember back in the long long ago each hospital room had its own hvac unit so you could control your own room temp to what YOU wanted....but this was back when hospitals were competent and cared about the patient.
This video was clear , concise and most helpful ! Thank you for arming us with simple information , peeling back that curtain of healthcare , and giving us the necessary tools and coping skills...for our safety and success . Bless you !
I have the say my last stay at a hospital was a good one. They treated me exceptionally well. After my broken hip surgery, I hooked up with my night nurse. and dated her.
SUPER WELL DONE!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING! ALL POINTS ARE CRITICAL. ESPECIALLY REGARDING HAVING AN ADVOCATE WITH YOU ST ALL TIMES. ( I can't count the number of times they have caught critical Errors!) THANKS AGAIN
Our hospital has good food. I was able to call whenever I wanted except at night and there were choices that were healthy. I did learn to order some extra fruit or something I could eat when I woke up in the morning before the food service began. I also put the phone number for ordering food into my phone contacts so it was easy to call.
Wow. I must live in an exceptional area. I was kept warm and anything I needed was provided. I always have a terrible time waking up after surgery. This time I told my doctor how hard it is. He suggested talking to the anestheialogist and see if he would use toradol in place of tramadol. I talked to him about it and he looked at me kind of strange then he said. "I will make a deal with you. We will try it but if I see you are showing too much sign of pain I will add the tramadol". I said it was a deal. He must not have had to use it because I actually woke up and it felt wonderful.
Didn't think to take a go bag for "out patient" gallbladder surgery. Yes I ended up staying one night. Greatful the surgeon had the for thought to have a room for me. Anesthesia and MS doesn't always play nice together.
Last year a family member went to the ER (septic shock) with all of their meds in a bag. The bag of meds got lost in the confusion. Many of the meds were quite expensive and it was very difficult to replace the meds after discharge. Perhaps, keep a bag of empty med bottles to take to the ER.
Thanks 😊 for this Excellent video. A note- I had a large lump removed from my arm and the surgeon gave me a long list of supplements to not take 72 hours before! Some can cause thinning of the blood so make sure you ask if they don’t mention it in your pre-op visit!
Being in a hospital for any length of time could be a death sentence. I've had family and friends who went into a hospital for standard procedures, only to DIE while they were there. STAY AWAY FROM HOSPITALS. If you value your life...at the Very least make sure you have an advocate to watch over you 24/7.
Patriot Nurse just to let you know...here in Canada we are not allowed perfumes or fragrances of any kind in the hospital as some people are severely allergic. ???
Over the years we’ve been advised to Not sign anything without your lawyers approval !! Also, a legal document drafted by one’s attorney stating No treatment of any kind without express written consent (even an aspirin) by self or legal representative. Obviously if life saving treatment for trauma, there will be no time nor request made for treatment. .
OMG everything you said was true. Unfortunately, I had to figure out all the information on my own. One thing I would add is to be wary of podiatrists in the hospital. Thank you for your video.

They allow showers? Not where my husband was.
❤❤❤ Thank you once more for reminding your average person that we must be prepared. For what is to come. In our world which belongs to God. 😅
That's OUTRAGEOUS and a violation of your rights!
Woman, you run for any office; you have my VOTE❤THANK YOU
Very good advice! From a retired Medical Staffer.
Patriot Nurse, Thank you very much. You and your family have a beautiful and blessed Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year. LORD GOD Bless and stay vigilant.
100% agree your advocate needs to be with you 100% of the time!!
Great video girl, i myself am a transplant patient, and i have a hospital bag with everything you touched on, also take an extension cord with you, found this out the hard way, outlet over there and your phone cord is to short😅.... nurse's did get a kick out of me having a extension cord... but anyway stay out if you can, care is going down hill.... peace peeps
Surprised they let you use it, it's against regulations.
Great advice to prepare a hospital to go bag- especially for emergencies and those who live alone.

I’m so sorry. Ballad ruined healthcare in this area.
@aneitalight6306 same here. Florida doesn't allow them there. Some many good doctors have left sw Virginia and ne Tennessee because of Ballard.
Thank you for all the great videos and information!!! Many blessings 🙌 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I found that taking a laptop computer (that was before cell phones) I was able to PROVE that the med I was given for the asthma treatments from a brush fire was giving a bad side effect & showing it to my MD was critical to stopping the med
The patient can refuse any medication or procedures. Speak up for your wishes.
Yes, medical professionals aren't usually aware of all side effects.
It might disappear too.
That’s most hospitals
I'd be discreet with it, and pack it with my intimate apparel & gowns or jammies. Always research if the over-the-counter or prescription meds react with any new meds or treatments that you may receive during a hospitalization.
@@magentared5822 Yep....
Thank you PN. Info appreciated.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah Patriot Nurse. You are a blessing to us all! 🙏❤️🎄
Thank you. Many of these I use. Many were useful. 🙏 For anyone who has to use these facilities often.
Thanks PatriotNurse!
Thank you for the info. I’m probably going to have to have a cervical surgery, because my first one fell apart. All the information you gave has helped me out so much! God bless you!
THANK YOU PATRIOT NURSE, AND MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎅 ❤
My mom went after covid. I tagged along for outpatient procedure. I was irritated from The start. Check in...no data was NOT**?updated. Old phone # old info etc...the gal front desk didnt speak english...!! She had trouble with the computer..but didnt have trouble taking payment!!
After procedure.recovery rm. 2 ppl. Asked to give her a med. I said she got it in the o.r.....then a 3rd Nurse came with med. IN Hand** wanting to give it. I said NO. Was very frustrated. If i wasnt ** there..she would have gotten it.
Won't let me comment.....
Agree with the food issue! Most still use margarine too!!!
Fresh veggies would be good, but protein is the Most important, far and above.
This is a great subject, with good coverage, that nobody talks about! Thanks, there are some really good points you made!
Give me real butter anyday over marg!
Thanks for your ongoing guidance and support. You are forever appreciated!
You are so welcome 🤗
From one nurse to another, very good advice. Thanks for addressing the AMA and insurance issue.
Excellent presentation, many of those things on the list I never thought I could bring with me. One of the issues that always concerns me is not being innoculated or other injections while I’m asleep. Thank you for your concern for the patients care.
Had surgery in July, was outpatient thankfully.
Thanks for these tips.
My family travels a bunch, and something I never considered is flip flops for hotel bathrooms; luckily we haven't got any funky fungi. Great idea, PN, thank you.
Smart lady. Thank you.😇
I remember back in the long long ago each hospital room had its own hvac unit so you could control your own room temp to what YOU wanted....but this was back when hospitals were competent and cared about the patient.
ICO on Qvarden is already at $54m, way too many insiders stacking up. I got my measly $400 in
Respectfully, although the sausage may not be organic, ha. I'd prefer it and eggs, over fruit and processed hfcs crap or fruit. Or just fast.
This video was clear , concise and most helpful !
Thank you for arming us with simple information , peeling back that curtain of healthcare ,
and giving us the necessary tools and coping skills...for our safety and success .
Bless you !
Thank you. Enjoyed the presentation and the information!
I have the say my last
stay at a hospital was a good one. They treated me exceptionally well. After my broken hip surgery, I hooked up with my night nurse. and dated her.
These are great tips for when you go into the hospital, thank you.
Perfectly executed video, Patriot Nurse. Thank you for sharing.
get a "nannycam" and record (vid and audio) automatically via motion activated. perhaps even sending vids to the cloud and your advocate.
Brilliant idea!
Thank you for your excellent advice. I’m not going to a hospital in less it’s for something that I can’t do myself.
Thank you for your valuable information as always, from a inside perspective. God bless
Fantastic advice that everyone should heed. There's no substitute for experience.
Merry Christmas and thank you PN for helping us all through the years.
Thank you for such important information, I would not have thought about many of the things you mentioned. Lord bless you ✝🙏🏻
Thank you PN! very helpful 👍🙏 Shalom and God bless you! Merry Christmas.
Thank you!🎉
Stay motivated PN. Great topic that I have not seen on YT. Looking your best
Quality content. Thank you Sweetheart 🕯️
Thank you Patriot Nurse! Always great!❤❤❤
Our hospital has good food. I was able to call whenever I wanted except at night and there were choices that were healthy. I did learn to order some extra fruit or something I could eat when I woke up in the morning before the food service began. I also put the phone number for ordering food into my phone contacts so it was easy to call.
Thanks once again! GOD Bless and Keep you Save!
Great video.😃😃😃
Patriot nurse is such a sweetheart 😊 be blessed 🙏🙏🙏
Didn't think to take a go bag for "out patient" gallbladder surgery. Yes I ended up staying one night. Greatful the surgeon had the for thought to have a room for me. Anesthesia and MS doesn't always play nice together.
You are 💯 Truth don't forget snacks and water.
Last year a family member went to the ER (septic shock) with all of their meds in a bag. The bag of meds got lost in the confusion. Many of the meds were quite expensive and it was very difficult to replace the meds after discharge. Perhaps, keep a bag of empty med bottles to take to the ER.
Thank you, Patriot Nurse ❤
I appreciate you and your wisdom. Thank you for operating in a spirit of excellence. Merry Christmas, sister
Thanks 😊 for this Excellent video. A note- I had a large lump removed from my arm and the surgeon gave me a long list of supplements to not take 72 hours before! Some can cause thinning of the blood so make sure you ask if they don’t mention it in your pre-op visit!
Thank you PN 14:25
Thank you! You Rock!!😎👍🙏❤🙏⚘⚘
Great list. May I add possibly donating your own blood through the red cross or have a family member or friend with the same blood type to donate.
Being in a hospital for any length of time could be a death sentence. I've had family and friends who went into a hospital for standard procedures, only to DIE while they were there. STAY AWAY FROM HOSPITALS. If you value your life...at the Very least make sure you have an advocate to watch over you 24/7.
Thank you so much for those great points! ❤
Obviously if life saving treatment for trauma, there will be no time nor request made for treatment.
.
Been in Hosp/Worked in Hosp
So True...Great List You Rock!
OMG everything you said was true. Unfortunately, I had to figure out all the information on my own. One thing I would add is to be wary of podiatrists in the hospital. Thank you for your video.
What specifically have you noticed about podiatrists?
Thanks for sharing I sent to my sister her daughter and my god daughter they are all having babies two in January and one in March ❤
