Two things have blown me away regarding this video. 1. The quality, info and craftsmanship/artmanship (not a word I know but I just claimed it) of producing the end product. Truly amazing! 2. Why there are so many not likes? What is there not to like. It's a great class. Nice job Gary. I'm a fan.
FINALLY a channel from an experienced guy who does realistic videos that isnt too much click bait ( I would love to see how to sell your images. What channels you put them on etc, and how you price them. You mentioned you put them on your website, but how do you get people over there?) No fancy pansy guys with over enthusiastic "WHATS UP GUYS!!!" bunch of nonsense.
@@GaryGough that's nice of you. I subscribed! I recently got myself a Sony a7iii and a lens for cheapo. I used to have an old nikon d60, and I have to say it's way more fun now. The images I get is just amazing compared to the old nikon. So much information from the full frame. Still have tons of practice I need, but I would love to able to sell a lucky shot if I make one. Even it's a dollar or 10 I don't mind. But the feeling that someone would pay something for my photos would be amazing :) Keep up the high quality videos. So far I like them a lot.
Gary you are the first person who has been able to describe 'fine art photography' and I think you summed it up perfectly. I have only just discovered you and I am already a fan.
Hi Gary, Thanks for this video. I have a definition of fine art photography, and it is this: If you see a photograph and you just have to buy it to hang it on your wall because it creates an impact in your soul and you know you will enjoy it everytime your eyes fall on it then you have found something which causes the viewer to linger and take the time to comprehend it, it then, is fine art.
Thank you so much Gary, I came across your TH-cam by accident but so pleased I did. Extremely helpful even more so as I’m getting bored with my photography at the moment, and I’m definitely interested in Fine Art Photography. Got to learn those shortcuts - brilliant. I have subscribed and will now go to your website. Thank you. Kim
Thank you Gary for sharing your process. I enjoy watching videos like this as its both about a beautiful piece of fine art, and it demonstrates the process of achieving it. I’m with you on your definition of fine art, it’s all about a vision for an image and what a photographer can do to achieve the vision! Thank you for producing great videos and sharing them as you do. Cheers!
Hello Gary, Thank you so much for gently share your process and sensibility with us. I am a Brazilian guy who is now coming to your channel. I will subscribe to your channel and learn more from you. When I improve my English I hope to attend a workshop there in Scotland. Problably in 2023. Thanks again.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. I also like your definition of art. I’ve just read your blurb - I thought it was the Fylde coast and I was right. I lived in Blackpool for 30yrs, left in 2013, so they must have located Mary’s Shell after I left or thereabouts. Great piece of sculpture and great image created of it.
Just found this and tutorial and loved it... yes beautiful image and would class this as fine art. Simple and effective.. Ive not used Raw before have always used lightroom....will give this a go. inspired thank you
Gary, I concur with your definition and others that have commented provide some good nuances to the definition of Fine Art. Thanks for sharing your creativity and insight from the camera through post-processing. I appreciate it.
Been doing this for twenty five years and still love it when someone inspires me. Great video, nicely put together and I personally love the image. Thanks for posting Gary.
Hi Gary Ranjo is here I really love your art photo it is great, thanks for all the amazing videos I’m learning quite a lot from you, photoshop is my weakest point. Thanks
Wonderful tutorial. This is my first view of your tutorials. It was very helpful. It can be so easy to overdo edits in post-processing. This photo looks great in B&W or the blue color. Love the smooth sea. Very nice. Can't wait to see more. Thank you!
Stunning, always look forward to your videos Gary, In my opinion if an image looks good call it whatever you want, art, landscape portrait. As always Gary fantastic work, thank you for sharing.
Its easy for everyone to believe that everything has been shot or taken before you. So what the need to take the shot again. But photography is about that. Mimicking a shot of another picture or photographer to help find your place in the art, in the field, in the world of photography, the aim is to give you the ability to take it to the next level, in evolution of photography, evolution of yourself, its your photo, of that shot that someone thought of, that bring you to their same wave length. all eyes are different, but are still just eyes. all pictures are different but are still just pictures. A camera's role is to act as bridges between the eyes, the pictures and the minds. fine art achieve this goal.
Hi Gary, I'm a hugh fan of b&w imagery but in this case it's colour all the way for me. Both look fantastic. Great end result. Thanks a million for sharing.
Great video. It reinforced much of what I already knew but the use of the marquee to move one part of the image to another as an alternative to cloning and healing is a revelation as well as the transform tool used at the bottom edge instead of cropping out unwanted distractions and thus allowing you to maintain the chosen dimensions of the image is a revelation. Thank you for an informative lesson.
All I can say is that your tutorials- "follow along"; is really wonderful. Thanks so much. I just had to subscribe in order to support you and help me. Cheers.
Very very informative Gary, I was hooked! Lovely images and very natural flow tutorial, thank you! Loved both images but the colour one was incredible.
Well done Gary, loved the vid, as you say" everybody's interpretation of a photo is different and that's what makes it art" i really liked the black and white version of the photo and I'm looking forward to more vids.
Best explanation of photography as art that I've heard. Only ever sold a few prints but get what you're saying. The downside is that it looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and learn Ps instead of relying on Lr. Already on my Mac but have tried to ignore it until now!
Spending those few extra minutes or hours to get that 1 shot, makes everything worth it. Finally found someone that like myself, prefers minimal tweaking to any picture rather than slap a bunch of presets or filters to create an effect that was never there to begin with. As you say Fine Art Photography is a very thin line, everybody can produce stunning effects with software but where does it stop from crossing that line between creative photography and an artistic image piece?

Gary, It is always good to learn some new ways on how to process an image. Thanks, John
You're welcome John 👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you John, very kind of you to say. I'll be making a follow up video with the some of the questions you raised

Good Art has 'Aesthetic' which elevates the soul. Bad art is everything else.
Nice Video Gary. Know this beach well. Glad you binned that background music when you went to Photoshop.
