Please join the barbershop quartet The Newfangled Four in a full length concert in our Bay Shore Church sanctuary. It’s a free concert with a suggested donation because they are raising money to attend the International Barbershop Quartet Contest in the first week of July in Louisville, KY. They need to raise $8500 for their travel expenses, so they are performing a send-off concert to raise funds. These four young men met at CSULB, so they are local talent, and we love to support our local musicians. They’ve been together ten years now, so they’ll be featuring many of their greatest hits from the last 10 years as well as previewing some BRAND NEW numbers which we they are preparing for the contest. No strangers to competition, they won the International Collegiate Barbershop Quartet Contest back in 2013 - and they are still Newfangled!
From Southern California, The Newfangled Four is one of the top barbershop quartets in the world, performing all around the United States, as well as internationally. Formed in the fall of 2012, this foursome quickly bonded through their involvements with the Westminster Chorus and Masters of Harmony, two well-renowned choruses in the Barbershop Harmony Society. Combining old fashion slapstick humor with their quirky offbeat comedy, The Newfangled Four merges their talents as top notch harmony singers and first class entertainers. In 2013, the quartet won the International Collegiate Barbershop Quartet Contest and the Far Western District Quartet Contest, and most recently finished 6th place in the world in 2019. Over the years they have developed a reputation not only for their fine singing and showmanship, but also for their work and involvement in the youth movement as clinicians and educators, leading countless workshops for young singers in the US. The Newfangled Four has appeared on Buzzfeed, Hallmark’s “Home and Family show,” the new “Gong Show,” “The CW Christmas Carolers Challenge,” and has recorded custom tracks for the Lifetime Movie Network. With millions of views on their TH-cam performances, they are proud to introduce the barbershop artform to aspiring young singers around the world. The show will be a suggested donation event, so even if can not contribute, you can come out and see them for free! This is a send off concert for them, and their last public performance before they hit the road at the end of the month. Fantastic as always. But also as always, that fugue was composed by Antonio Vivaldi, at least until that final cadence. Bach just borrowed and transcribed it, just as the NF4 did.
