I grew up watching Candid Camera in the US and now I'm just discovering the UK version. To me, the eloquent British way of speaking makes the stunts even better!

Me too, good ol' days. I had a little Morris Minor like that one. Maroon it was. "Pull the starter" brought back memories. Loved that little car, she was already old who I owned her in 1980. Time flies.
He hits two cars before the instructor says, "I think I should show you what to do!" - Can you just imagine that nowadays? - Priceless!

I take my hat off to the driving instructor, he has such calmness under a trying situation, great show, used to watch this every week, here in England.
I was hoping that the instructor would get into the driving seat, then the people whose cars had been hit would arrive and kick up a fuss. Then the bloke being taught would blame the driving instructor 😂

Many, many years ago I was a Driving Instructor in Toronto & I had a certain nationality lady that had gone through something like 50 driving lessons previously & a half dozen or so Instructors. Being young & invincible, I figured I would give it a shot. My first clue that she was going to be a problem was when I told her to drive straight through at a traffic light. Even though the light was red she was going to do just as I had told her & drive straight through. My next clue was when I told her to turn right at the next traffic light & she turned left, crossing 3 lanes of traffic, & having a bus come screeching to a stop just inches from my side of the car. After that I refused to take her out anymore, drove her home & told her after 50 lessons she was a menace on the road & to take the bus. She told me she always gets her left & right mixed up & then proceeded to complain to the Mayor, Ministry of Transport, The Better Business Bureau, you name it. - True story.

I'm a bit sceptical, because no driving instructor would start a first time learner from between two cars. Never, not even n the 60s.

I mean that instructor is a bit of a drip with his come in me old son when the man can't drive. Then gets back in the car to let him try again when he has already hit one car. I hope he was never an examiner!

Eithical instructor. Will have to pay IF they come out. Just get away with no note on who caused the dent, eh? Teacher at first walked between the cars and did not notice there was less than a foot room and still told guy to go in reverse. So who’s stupid?
Back in the day, bumpers had an actual use just for this. People did not file claims for bumping a bumper. Bumpers back then were very strong and usually matched the same height as other cars so it was nothing to hit a bumper.
hardly a grey hair on his head for a man who's obviously in his 60s, around that time the dyes used for human hair contained an industrial dye which infected the scalp then if left untreated would eventually poison the brain leading to what was known as 'mop-madness' where a person would either gesticulate in a weird way or if very unlucky they would have diarrhoea blowbacks which coupled with the bobbling of the head and the rampant flicking of the hair made for quite a sight I can tell you, it's on youtube... mop madness... hair bobbling poo

Candid Camera should have had several more cars positioned on the street for him to have his demolition derby. After the instructor with 40 years experience has to deal with that, then the driver tells him he found his learner's permit/drivers license in the street. He would have retired on the spot. ;)

The instructor says he's been teaching for 40 yrs but no way would you let a new person to driving drive a car in such a difficult tricky situation . To drive the car from starting with a car parked in front and behind , and into oncoming traffic .
So he started teaching in the 1930s. Long time ago.
