  • I am working on a steam boiler in an old church built 1820. My adventures part of me decides to explore this tunnel. As I explore this tunnel I find tombstones placed all around. Therefore I might be exploring a crypt.

That was spooky...... I have been through some tunnels and vacated sections in old buildings before, but this one has a strange feeling to it. Thank you for sharing!

It did I have explored many interesting places. Yet never running into really old tombstones from almost 20 years ago. Someone commented about how this would be an interesting midnight call. As adventurous as I am. I would postpone this one for the next morning

That big ductwork was probably for a gravity furnace.

Way before my time, I need to learn more about those systems.

nice, giant manual slide damper! I can picture someone feeding coal and running around adjusting the manual damper blades after popping up to check temperatures lol
also, wouldn't be surprised if it was gravity feed/convection in vertical piping moving air over the coil at one point, need a boost, open intake from cold outdoor air lol

Makes sense why no blower to move air. I wasn’t sure if damper or to reject heat. Just like a radiator would. Never had a chance to work on a system like that

From some of the old stories I’ve heard, I wouldn’t be surprised if those were really REALLY old gravesites. I used to hear that when land was scarce that they would build where they could. Just a thought though.

I am not much of a plumber but I do know not to touch that dripping iron pipe, don't even look at it hard. haha

Worst part of repairing a leaking pipe. You fix this leak and created a leak further down the line from all the cutting and chiseling apart the old fittings

Nice video. Scary place. I don't imagine that anyone has treated the boiler water in that place. Probably ph is low and eating out pipes. Thanks for the video's.

you can see the auto feeder injection pumps in his previous video/s, that's part of routing inspection and maint. ensuring the feeders are set right and water chemistry

That was indeed an organ blower. Organ builders are always putting those in the worst places. In a dusty basement with leaking steam pipes to pull in old, humid, stale air and force it into the organ bellows & pipes. That same air is the very reason organs get plugged with dust and can't hold a tune for more than a day...
What church was that? Fascinating basement. If it's from 1820 and that big it ain't a Catholic Church..

It was a little creepy. This is the second time finding a place like this. Where it tunnels off the boiler room
