Hey, so that is a parachromis friedrichsthalii, a legit one. They did a name change about 4 years ago. What was parachromis friedrichsthalii is now parachromis multi, and what was parachromis loiselle is now parachromis friedrichsthalii, confusing? Great, I know, but it gets worse. So, what you have used to be called parachromis loiselle might even be what was called a Freddie,is not a Mota, or RTM. The reason RTM's are called false yellow jackets cichlids is because up to about 3 inches or so, they are both grey and undistinguishable from one another. I, not being an expert, have owned several variants for both species, and if the cichlid is yellow, it's not an RTM. I've owned what they call a golden tiger Mota, which is more a goldish orange hew, but never yellow. I hope this helps.

That looks like Parachromis loisellei, not motaguensis, which actually IS the initial species mistaken for P. friedrichsthalii. Yellow Jacket Cichlids also go by the nick name Freddy, short for friedrichsthalii. With that being said, I could be wrong, but I don't think so. P. loisellei is mostly bright yellow with very little black. Just like the one in the tank. It's a very beautiful fish!

Last I checked the motaguensis are red tiger cichlids and the yelow jacket is a parachomis friedrichsthalii. There’s no false yellow jacket cichlids.

Looks more parachromis multifasciatus ( yellow jacket cichlid).
They look very similar but have had a couple of diffrent folks see it in person and agree it's a False thanks Much for watching
