I’m really glad most people seem to like the console version (it’s tough to find reviews but from the impressions I’ve read it seems to be a solid port ) . I love strategy games and world war 2 in particular, but struggle with RTS because I feel things suddenly move way to fast , so the tactical pause was a huge selling point ! I think strategy games are very undervalued on consoles so the more we get the better . I just wish they would try to really let you be the general and command in 1st person while issuing commands over the radio while viewing the battle . Or you could lead a small battalion from your tank (think the brother in arms series )
Try Sudden Strike 4, it also has the pause thing
I've played company of hero's since coh1 on pc. It plays really well on ps5 think they have done a great job so far. Only early doors yet hope they add load more content to the game.
I agree, the tutorial did a great job, telling me everything I needed to start the game, unlike many other strategy games. I love the fact, that they ported it to consoles, it makes it playable for me. The best feature in my opinion is the „tactical pause“! It takes away all the stress of other RTS and makes the battles mich more tactical, because it’s actually the decisions that matter - and I love that, it’s the way I want to play a strategy game!
The strategic campaign im Italy is the cherry on top for me, I love the switch between exciting tactic skirmishes and then nice and calm turn based strategy again. I’ve had some crashes on PS5 though and the controller controls are still a little clunky, but it’s the first game of it’s kind on consoles so that’s easy for me to accept, getting the first really cool (semi-) RTS on consoles. I’m sure they’re going to improve that with every new release. So I love this game, it’s the first strategy game for me that’s actually so much fun and I hope more of them will implement a pause function in the future (at least on consoles), because for me that is the real game changer!
Glad to hear that the game has positive impressions on the console side, whereas from the pc it ain't that much

It has a well deserved "mostly negative" on Steam, I can just imagine that the console version will be okay considering the pc game plays like a mobile port.
I dont think this reviewer has even played the game much, he thinks its about taking back France.

Well deserved? The game is just fine. It plays great and I’ve had no issues. I’ve played every COH game on PC since 2006. People like you need to understand what you are talking about before lying to others in the comments.

This game (pc version) is super fun but has some competitive multiplayer balancing issues. That being said unsure how I’d enjoy it on console. Might actually make it more fun because a lot more importance on mechanics than strategy. Still, unsure if it’s worth it from a competitive multiplayer perspective yet
Idk about the multi much but i have LOVED the single player. I am doing a PS5 specific review soon. Mostly on visuals and controls. I did play a few skirmishes with people and it is fun but coming from coh1 on PC, it is HARD.
I play this on pc but I do wonder how it is on console. Maybe I'll get it on Xbox and try it.

I played the first game on PC, although I'm not really a PC gamer and am glad this series finally out on consoles, though it's a pity they didn't release the first two games at the same time and the fact that it's "next gen" only, i reckon the PS4 certainly would have little difficulty running it, however Sony seemingly wants to kill off the PS4 all of a sudden and are releasing very few games for it, unlike a few months ago!
I'll get it on PS5 eventually, when they get a significant and long overdue price cut - they should be selling for €400 at the most, pushing three years after launch, not €50 dearer!!
Also hopefully the PS5 Pro isn't too far away! 😯😂😀🤘🤞

I am glad games are only being made for new gen because if they continue to cater to old gen then they are holding back on full potential of the new gen.

Could anyone recommend a better / cheaper RTS game as an alternative?
I can get him this one and I’m pretty certain he’ll enjoy it. But I think there might be better RTS games available for a semi-beginner.

If you haven't played it and have a pc get the Blitzkrieg Mod, it's way better than the original game.

I love CoH3 on console. I have played since 2007. Don't let haters dissuade you. Not everyone is a PVP gamer. A lot of us play skirmish anyways.

I play it on a series S and it honestly gives me no issues then occasional lag (very rarely mainly when I have a bunch of artillery in use 😅)

Are the graphics really that bad ? :/ The terrain just looks horrible, even COH2 has better graphics (albeit on a desktop)

@JonWilliams-vy3tl I was wondering this too. In coh 1 I had a mod where I could spawn unlimited snipers and units etc was good fun watching the nps wars

Sorry, but this game is rotten to the core on the PS5. Crashes, corrupt savegames to the point I have to replay entire missions. This game is broken
Definitely has a number issues. I’m on the series X and so far have had a few crashes to dashboard, 2 soft locks resulting in completely redoing the campaign, multiple company skills from the dynamic map preventing some units from upgrading weaponry or just not working at all, and ships becoming permanently unable to move after using the transfer port command.
Looks so shit, as a player coming from coh1/2 this looks like a let down

To be honest the game is a cancer of it's own making. Relic itself hasn't really put anything worthwhile on the market besides charging AAA prices for undigested pieces of corn and selling it as fresh produce with tons of peanuts and hype. DoW3 - Self exlpainatory... AoE - nothing new there, just a reskin over a used condom... CoH3 complete diarrhea.
What's next Relic? Piss in our tea and tell us it's a new zesty savory flavor? Don't touch this thing unless you want to support the sale of STD's. Not even being sarcastic.
This game is trash. It's one of the most awkward controlling RTS games i've ever played. I'll stick with age of wonders 4.
If the tutorial is going to be so shit then there needs to be an easy or very easy difficulty for skirmish so i can figure out how to play the game myself.

I'm honestly surprised that no game has ever tried to just make RTS controls the way that RUSE did on console. That was probably the most satisfying to play RTS game next to command and conquer I ever played on console
