    I started my journey last week.I have to lose 15Kg. I ve already lost 20 in the past and now that's the last and hardest step to reach my final goal.I just want to feel confident and be able to wear everything I want without being ashamed for my body.Somehow I now find it so hard to lose the last 15Kg but you are inspiring me so much and I am trying step by step to go further...Thank you very much Lucy.

      How long did it take you to lose the 16 kg?

    • @imogensharma
      @imogensharma 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@rae.1020 It took me about six months to lose the first 10kg, which I did through a mixture of running 5k (very slowly and clumsily) every other day, intermittant fasting three days per week and reducing the amount of processed food I eat. I don't eat 100% clean but I aim to have 80% of my diet come from whole foods and save 20% to treat myself. I found that totally cutting out the stuff that brings me pleasure made me more inclined to binge.
      The intermittant fasting was really important for me because I had been eating an excessive amount of sugary foods every day. I wasn't really into eating big portions or lots of proper food - just daily binges on sweets, crisps and chocolate. I had to address the insulin resistance this caused to kick-start the initial stages of weight loss. While running was great for that time and I needed to give my heart a jolt, I've moved onto bodyweight and weight training and find the results on my physique are amazing. Resistance training is so good for the physique and hormones - and I find it a lot more fun than running. I do two heavy ten minute work outs and 15 minutes stretching most days now, with a boxing, running or calisthenics session thrown in here and there. Each day I'm improving my push ups, dips, crunches, lunges and all of those basic but super hard compound exercises which wake up your brain and body. I couldn't do one full push up in September, now I can do 30! My next goals are freestanding handstand and splits. I'm 32 and I've NEVER been fit, I couldn't stand most exercise as a child and young person and had no experience in sport at all. Now I love it. And that was a choice, I had to make the decision to fall in love with movement.
      I've gone from (UK) size 16 last January to size 10 this Jan. I eat around 1800 kcal with one treat per day. I've always loved vegetables and fruit and getting a really good blender has helped me to eat even more of them.
      The worst thing you can do is resitrct your calories and train like crazy, it'll just bust your metabolism, make you hate the process and have you going in circles. Gradually reduce what you eat until you're at between 1500-2000kcal a day and don't restrict the foods you love but don't have them in excess. It's hard at first and there will be setbacks. Honestly, over the last year I've still had binges and fallen off the wagon but I keep getting back on and making sure that those days are the exception and not the rule.
      It's such an overtired cliche, but it's really about making your new eating habits and exercise habits part of your identity and daily life. Eating mainly healthy food and building my strength and flexibility are part of who I am now, and I'll never change that.
      Be really honest about where you're at now and remain laser focused on where you want to be - the rest will fall into place. I know you just asked a very simple question haha, but I hope this was useful! Natacha Oceane, Fledge Fitness and Thomas DeLauer have also been super useful on my journey - but Lucy was the one who made me believe that I could do it. We're so lucky to have TH-cam! Much love x

      Actually, since I’m in my late 30s, I am realising that monthly cycles affect my workout and nutrition/craving so much. But then a month goes by so fast and before you know it, you’re back in your monthly cycle cravings again 😆 I love all the points Lucy. But I do think that these points are so good for women, but not so much for men.. 😆

    Some great common sense tips in this video, great channel, very positive but tinged with realistic expectations! !18 months ago I was 118KG, type 2 diabetes. Now, at 65 I'm 85KG (still got the man boobs & love handles to go) surfing every day, walking the whippets up the steepest hills, doing weight training at home & I feel 19 again! Life is good! As for giving into cravings, have to respectfully disagree, although we're all different & we have to choose what works for us. Abstinence from sugar has been the key to my success, & I don't crave it all now. My taste buds have been re-educated, an apple or banana tastes exquisite, a tangy salad an explosion of pleasure! I indulge in whatever I want on my birthday & at Xmas. Anyone can do this!!

    Honestly sometimes I’m completely baffled as to why I’m not exercising regularly. I’m not sure how or why I’m creating pressure for myself...

    Hi Lucy, thank you so much for this video! ♡ I love all of your tips, especially the one about unfollowing social media accounts that are subconsciously negatively affecting your mindset (although for me, it was primarily unfollowing all those deliciously tempting local bakeries!) and also about simplifying nutrition & exercise - it's so easy to get wrapped up in thoughts like, "Okay today I've had 1427 calories with 93g protein and 142g carbs..did strength training 2 days ago, it's a cloudy Tuesday afternoon and Venus has just aligned with Jupiter and there'll be a red moon tonight so... okay cool, that works out to be 53.72 minutes of cardio and 5 sets of 23.19 reps for today." 😂
    The only tip that I personally find doesn't work is giving into cravings - for me, I find that the more I give myself permission to eat lollies, cakes, chocolate etc. the more I find myself craving those things and having to exercise restraint not to overindulge, which just ends up stressing me and negatively affecting my mindset towards weight loss overall.
    I've recently experimented with setting myself a goal of not having anything 'sweet' for a week (except fruit, though still within reason of course) and then allowing myself to have sweets in the week following. In the weeks where I've decided I'm not eating sweets, I actually find that because I've disallowed myself the option to eat them to begin with, I hardly think about eating them at all, and in the occasional moments where the thought of eating something sweet DOES pop into my head, the very next thought is "Oh but I'm not doing that this week", and I'll immediately move onto something else and not be bothered by it again. In comparison, the weeks where I have allowed myself the option to indulge, I find that the first instance of indulgence usually happens when I'm not even wanting or craving it - I just eat it because I can, because I've allowed myself the option. From then on, because I've had that initial taste of sugar, the cravings gradually creep in and I find I'm having to exercise more and more restraint to not overindulge as the week goes by and I become less and less satisfied with just having a small amount of whatever the sweet is (the exception to all this though is those few days where I get hormonal cravings - I still haven't managed to find a way to tame those beasts!). So TL;DR, I personally find it easier to just not allow myself sweets to begin with (except on those special occasions), because I know that if I do, it'll induce (or worsen) cravings that then put a negative strain on my whole psyche. I know this won't suit everyone, because everyone handles cravings and indulgence differently, but hopefully this concept will be of use to someone. I wish everyone all the best on their weight loss journeys and again, thank you Lucy for being the support we all didn't know we needed! ♡

Replace food with a healthy outlet would be my tip. But at first it is hard to break the habit and if you fall off remember you can always get back to the healthy habit and don't beat yourself up about it
