I own the original Emberton. It's seriously a great little speaker and probably the best-sounding one in that size profile. Today, I was wondering if Marshall would ever make a version that was bigger, louder, and could hit lower. I think I'll have to give it a go!
GREAT review man!👍 I just got this a couple days ago for my bday and CAN'T stop listening to music. I absolutely love this speaker. The sound quality is amazing. The BASS is deep and thumping. All genres sound wonderful. Hands down my favorite speaker out of all the Bluetooth speakers I own
I purchased this a couple of weeks ago and was very happy. Sound quality, clearly Marshall the separation makes guitar orientated music sound great but also most genres (im into trance) Looks good, feels very well built and it is really loud for its size and no distortion, personally found it sound it’s best between 25%+ volume, feels a tad boomy below Like the controls, super convenient having the bass and treble on the top. If you buy direct you get 10% off with voucher. Your paying 60% more then emberton 2 but getting twice the speaker 👍 (not suitable for taking ok long walking holidays but portable in almost all other senses) I bought this for house /garden and road/camping trips. If I could only have 1 speaker that would cover most bases and do so well, this would be it.
I've just bought the New Middleton Bluetooth speaker and what i will say is it is brilliant listening to it at low to medium volume but as soon as you crank up the volume it's so bad the bass absolutely disappears for some reason. We need them to push a update to fix this problem but I don't even know if they even know about it. Watch ross TH-camr he properly goes in to the sound and shows you what happens when you up the volume to near maximum volume it absolutely shocking. Like i said if you keep the volume below 60 percent volume it's good. But you need that maximum volume when your outside with all your friends.
Marshall Middleton is quite unique speaker. Definitely not for everyone. If you require usb-c for charging, good portability, durable construction, wide soundstage and Marshall signature sound, it is very good choice. There is whole bunch of good speakers, but few of those have all these parameters. For example Sony SRS-XG300 is also good speaker, and cheaper. But its directional soundstage is no go feature for me. Soundcore Motion Boom+ is also very good and cheap choice. But it is much larger and cheap looking. And so on...
No I haven't noticed anything yet. But I have to be honest, I don't use this speaker day in day out. Just maybe twice a week, and one of those days , was for few hours at a time. I do like how quick it charges up ( from the mains ), and the level of the battery doesn't look like its depleting that quick when used. Just great all round really, but I haven't bought my second one yet..
This speaker looks great EXCEPT for the 360 sound. I prefer directional sound. I don't want mono, even if it is a small speaker. Give me proper stereo directional sound. My favourite BT speaker of all time was the Bose Soundlink Mini. I still have mine and it still works. I wish Bose would make a 2024 version of that speaker that looks almost identical but waterproof and with a bigger battery and bigger sound (the unit might need to be 10% larger to accommodate). Do you have any suggestions for a really good sounding mid-sized BT speaker with directional stereo sound?
@@jaylinroberts2526 The charge 5 is mono, not stereo. I owned one and it had Bluetooth crackling issues so I returned it. I ended up getting the JBL Xtreme 4 and I’m very happy with it. It sounds a lot better than the Charge 5 (which already sounded fantastic) mainly because the bass is a lot more present. I would recommend it to friends and family. I would also recommend the charge 5 IF it didn’t have Bluetooth problems. When I googled it I could find other people who had the same issues.
I recommend you the jbl boombox 3 and the soundboks go or maybe ultimate ears no ultimate ears is 360 so gotta be beats pill which has a stabilizer on its passive radiator i would also recommend the jbl charge 5 if its stereo also the ultimate ears but no 360 sound but i like marshall because Marshall has no disorstion if its max volume and also has balanced bass unlike jbl has punchy very punchy bass like the jbl partybox i like the decent sound with a stereo sound
It seems like it was designed more for home usage, being there's speakers on both sides of it. I just don't see it being able to play loud enough for outdoor usage. For one reason, you lose a certain amount of volume & sound, once you take it outside.
I doubt thayz otherwise it would have a battery and have a plug. They have a different small speaker lineup for that. All portable Bluetooth battery speaker loose power outsider that's just how it is. It's form factor. They lack big bod and acousticd
I'd probably have bought the JBL Xxtreme 3 if they hadn't plastered their awful logo all over it, those tasteless exclamation marks on the sides are a deal breaker for me. The Marshall logo is pretty big but it looks a lot nicer. This Marshall Middleton seems great and doesn't look like cheap toy.
middleton for the win. its a new speaker surely it has a better chip and surely they adjust what is missing to older marshall speaker. and when you are the consumer what will you buy if its in the same price. the older version or the newer version. surely the newer version. yes the killburn 2 is much louder due to its size but technology and size and 360 sound ill go middleton all the way. sound wise its almost the same killburn 2 is much bigger thats the reason some people like k2 due to its louder sound but for me compact and sounds and much newer version. and much versatile in displaying in your shelf computer etc.
hi coming from MALAYSIA , the new marshall emberton 3 just went out . i would like to ask if i should get the emberton 3 or middleton in terms of sound ? which one do you prefer the most? Thank You.
Just my 2 cents after having bought the Middleton...and its not that great for the price range.. the mids are missing... I mean its great on bass The highs are ok but get sktechy towards the top. And the mids where you would find your vocals are missing behind all the bass and highs. Its not what you want as clear quality sound. It acheives the 360 feel and its not all that bad . But i would expect a little more clear vocals for that price. Isnt that why we are buying Marshall quality products? If all you want is bass go get a jbl or bose imo.
Thank you for this informative review. Would you consider this a good alternative to Apple's HomePod 2. I am reluctant to activate two-factor-authentication on my MacBook Pro 16 M1. Also, could this speaker be constantly connected to power, to save recharging it after 20 hours?
Yes I would say this would be good alternative to the HomePod but of course has no smart features, a plus is the 3.5mm Lin in jack though. This speaker could also be connected to the mains permanently as when we have asked previously they have said the battery will not deteriorate outside normal usage conditions.

Great review! One thing every reviewer overlooks is the 3.5 input lag. Does it have one? I found this a very frustrating thing on most of Bluetooth speakers. I was very disappointed finding out i can't listen to a Bluetooth speaker via cable at the same time as my studio monitors because of this lag.
That's makes nobsensez inmean if it has a input there should be no lag. Could it be because audio is Prosser on the speaker? But you would also notice that lag when using bkuetooth
@@RomboutVersluijs well the lag is always present via Bluetooth, and thats ok. But almost every speaker I tried had a lag when connecting it via cable. And I don't understand why.
@@Iamdeees yeah bt has quite a lagz well couple milli seconds I believe. But with a cable, that's weird indeed. I would think perhaps due to it being processed inside that speaker. Perhaps because user is able to adjust audio on the device and this causes it to have a bit of lag

Guys, i need help.. i had to buy a speaker quickly and i went to local shop and bought Vivax BS210.. it was like €50 and i am very happy with it.. it has enough power for me and it can play music from usb (i love that, i wish more speakers have that option).. i am looking to buy another speaker, JBL Charge 5 or Xtreme 3 (or 4).. i think Xtreme is probably overkill for me but i would rather have some backup power and don't use it than don't have it if i need it.. i mostly use speakers when i work out in my basement and when i am on bbq with my friends.. no no need or something too powerful.. but anyway, has anyone ever compared something like my Vivax with more expensive speakers like these JBLs? Is there a huge difference in sound? Vivax is €50, Charge 5 is €150, Xtreme 3 is €240 at the moment.. does the sound quality difference justifies the price?
For half of the price, you can purchase 2 BOGASING M5S. They're designed exactly the same way, have 5.3 bluetooth, 30 hour battery life, & their 40 watts each, with three sound modes : 3D STEREO, VOCAL, SUPER BASS. They also have aux inputs, & a TF or Micro SD card slot. They retail for 69.99 each online. They're slightly larger than the EMBERTON 2S, & for the money spent, they really do sound good, for half the price of the MIDDLETON.
We think the middleton is better for sound quality, and bass, but the soundlink flex wins on portability and still packs a punch for its size and price point
maybe a silly question...is there already a fake middleton or not yet??im hesitant to order in our local online shops..emberton has already many fakes so that im asking is there already a fake middleton..thanks
Have you ever had the pleasure of taking the back off of a 50-year-old Marshall cab and smelling that smell of baltic birch plywood and 50-year-old speaker cones?
I understand that this speaker retails for roughly $300.00 USD. I already own one JBL CHARGE 5. Do you think I should purchase another one, & pair them in stereo? Or should I take a chance, & spend the extra $, & get the Middleton?
I had 2 charge 5 and pared them. I returned them to the store. ..They saturate the sound, and its a irritating light but loud sinus sound coming out of them.. ..They dont play sub, only messy upper bass, some base notes are just like cut out of the music.. And yeah, the pairing app is really bad.. And you have to reconnect the speakers with the app every single time you want to pair, and it doesnt work well.. Irritating af.. Shoot for quality..
