To each their ears and expectations...😅 To me it is by far their best work since Watershed...It is not only a question of growls or not but the overall groovy side that I missed since Heritage 😉
Thank you, I , for one cannot understand all the hype. My problem is Akerfelt's lack of memorable melodies in singing, the growls are just growls. As a stand-alone release, it isdefinitely not my favorite
I really wish there were more acoustic arrangements on the album. The endings of paragraph 2 and 5 have such catchy hooks. Would have loved to hear those way more thsn just as outros. Not a huge fan of this record, it isnt bad but i just dont see what most reviewers are so excited about.
If you listens to Sorceress, Mikael clearly starting to run out of ideas. The vocal melody on Chrysalis was almost identical to The lotus eater. Mike's mindset started to stuck in 70s since Heritage album. Lots of silly sounding keyboard solos since then.
youre right what makes opeth is bright and dark sides but this album has no dark side, just goofy vocals, funny keyboard moves, no weight and darkness to it
Well, you were honest: entirely wrong, but honest
hhahhaha

Album has so many years layers you need to multiple listens for it to get its hooks into you. I now put this with their with their best work.
Dear God. You're bloody lost
@@chirpywiggins5796 I think it's actually managed to become my favorite Opeth album of all time
@@bigfloppa9220lmao what. Recency bias is a helluva drug
@@anony-moon i went back and listened to Ghost Reveries and Watershed and honestly it might not be quite as good as Ghost Reveries but it's close

Hard disagree.
especially the first half of the album is sorely lacking hooks

The album is trash. Still Life was the last masterpiece from Opeth. I am NOT an Opeth hater. I am a realist.
Lmao
LOL no you're a contrarian LMAO
Bro, your reality is very distorted
Thanks for your OPINION
