Thank you for watching! I think Christiane’s story is inspiring and uplifting. What do you think: Would you summon your inner ninja or do you prefer slow and gentle way? Either way, what needs to be seen will be seen. 😊 If you have a question for Christiane, please leave it here!
It seems when I look into the self illusion, the illusion quickly dissolves and the attention is in direct experience automatically. So I guess my question is, how to prevent moving into direct experience? It seems to be a natural movement within the practice of inquiry.
Thank you for comment. There is no need to prevent anything. That would be trying to change or fix what is happening. Direct experience is simply being present to what is already here right now. Everything can be as it is. And yes, that’s right, when you look at the illusion, it no longer holds you a hostage, something dissolves. And here you are. :)
Ever “lost yourself” in a book or a movie? Felt self-conscious speaking in front of a crowd? All have experienced how the sense of self comes and goes. It happens so often that the descriptions are idiomatic. Some try to make the dropping of self into this esoteric indescribable transcendent mystical experience, but it’s actually so commonplace as to be banal. Most have just never stayed with the experience, much less investigated it. It seems like the initial awakening is often about realizing that you aren’t the body or the thoughts that arise in consciousness. The sense of self was just a mental construct. A subtle sense of self as the witness/consciousness/awareness itself often remains. Eventually, that sense of the self as pure awareness is seen to be just another arising in awareness. (How else could it be experienced?) It appears that there are only arisings in awareness and no self to be found anywhere.
I have a question, is there a way to get the book somehow, i dont have kindle, i read on android tablet, and i dont know if theres a paper version, if it is it cannot be shipped to my country, and im confused about this direct experience discussion, seeing no self can happen only in direct experience thats all i ever saw LU is claiming, and now you say that you 100% agree with statemant "just dont stay in direct experience" and im like WTF. Look for the self in the self illusion? Whats that mean, if not in direct experience im suppose too look in imagination? She said she learned to differntiate with one video, link maybe?
I had the same reaction. When I look for the self I can see a concept of the self but then I usually turn to direct experience. And there is no self there but I can still feel the sense of self. I guess she's saying I should keep looking at that sense of self which seems to be just a concept. Okay I'm confused but I'll try it.
@@justinm987 If your looking for the sense of self, you are looking for direct experience, can you find sense anywhere else, in thoughts? I think she means looking at the thought like "I", "mine", "I want", "i should" etc and projections containing images of "I". But still dismissing direct experience, looking for entity here and now is mind-boggling to me.
@@trinidiana Yeah i know, but since i dont have kindle i cant get it, thats the point, you can only buy electronic version if you have kindle linked to your amazon account, i read on tablet so i want to know if theres a way to get e-bbok other way than from amazon.
