- The State Fair of Texas is possibly the most Texas thing you can do in Texas, from fried food in so many versions you can't believe it to huge ferris wheels to pig races and competitions you have so much to see and do at The State Fair of Texas that you really have to go. The pig races were too funny. The guy had hilarious dad joke level names for every pig in the race. Just cracked me up. So many foods there too. We have a video on "The Eats of The State Fair of Texas" you can watch for more food fun. It is in the end screen and the video description and in the cards. so lots of options. @@liana4474They have state fair themed beer at the State Fair of Texas! One year, it was funnel cake flavor. And aside from your standard domestic beers, there are lots of Texas brews, of course including Shiner Bock. You can get Owens sausage at a stand near the livestock competition stalls. It’s close to the pig races, so you can grab sausage and a beer and hit the pig races. There’s also a giant food stall called Hans Mueller’s Beer Garden where you can get sausages, kraut and German beer. It’s toward the NE end of the fairgrounds, close to the Chevrolet Stage. Keep in mind, the fairgrounds are huge, so plan your visit accordingly.
As someone from Dallas the State Fair of Texas is very special to me.

If you don’t want to pay to park, you can also ride the DART rail to Fair Park. It will drop you off right in front of the Fair Entrance.
Which includes ridiculous fees to park a long long ways away. DART is certainly the way to do it as well as Uber/Lyft. Plus your car will be safe if it's not there.
There are actually two big football games that happen annually during the State Fair of Texas.
The Red River Showdown between Texas and OU, and the State Fair Classic featuring Grambling Vs Prarie View St.
The battle of the PVU and Grambling St Bands is a big event at the state fair.
Grambling State/PVU is an awesome experience, the football sucks, but the bands rock!!
@@moretoknowshow1887 One of the things that makes both games great is that each feature an in-state school (Texas, Prarie View A&M) vs an Out of State School (Oklahoma, Grambling St) that happens to be a close neighbor.
There are people that travel to Dallas every year from Oklahoma and Louisiana to attend the State Fair of Texas to see their teams and schools perform on a large stage.

Native Texan here. We go every year to eat all the things! It’s a foodie’s fried paradise! I’m talking next level creative fried eats. Just go read the Big Tex winners. If you haven’t been, it’s a must do at least once in your all of his tips were spot on. One more pro tip is to make sure you split everything you order with your partner so you can try more things and not just get full on three or four items for the day. life!
A good friend went and he said the best he had was the banana pudding fried pie and cornbread sausage balls...........and of course the beers. Always the beers.

Pro tip from a native Dallasite: Fletcher's original has changed in the past handful of years. To get that flavor we grew up on, GET THE BIRD DOG. It's right below the original on the menu boards. You're welcome.

DART does drop you off at the entrance and is cheaper than parking. Great list and I would add that you want to be careful in the area around fair park especially after dark.
Depends how many people are in your group, and what part of the metroplex you are coming from.

@@sevenandthelittlestmewthat's the irony. If you need to take the light rail to the fair because the parking lots are full, the parking lots at the DART stations (if they even have them) will be full too.
Comfortable footwear, sun screen, water, big hat in no particular order - all essential for any outdoor 'fair' if you don't want to suffer for days afterwards. A shoulder bag or medium back pack to hold water and more sun screen, hand wipes, souvenirs/game prizes, small towel to sit on if its really hot and sunny (you don't want to brand your butt sitting on a seat) or soak it with water and wear it round your neck if temperatures get really tragic. Generally don't trust public phone chargers - most are OK but a few may get hacked and either clone your phone info or install malware/adware when you plug them in - you can get power only cables if you look around that don't have the data lines connected - if the terminal gives you the choice to use your own cable (applies everywhere, but Fairs generally don't have the resources to check every outlet/terminal).
Please also don’t miss the Food and Fiber Pavilion, the wine garden, and the butterfly gardens. Oh, and the last day of the fair is the poultry judging competition, so go and see all the beautiful chicken breeds! I have gone to the fair every year since my husband and I met, but can’t go this year. I’m having surgery. We even went during the pandemic (they had a drive-thru experience)! It’s huge, it’s kitsch, and it’s a great place to run the kids ragged. Everyone will go home full and tired with some great pictures and carnival toys.
I know. so much more to mention! the competitions, the 4H stuff, so much to see and do

I was an exchange student in Temora, NSW back in the day... i think it was the 1800's, but i did get to see adelaide set the record for most points scored in an AFL game at the time. It was awesome
If I’m ever in TX when it’s on, it’s definitely check it out. So far, I’ve been to the New York, Iowa, and Minnesota State Fairs. Minnesota’s is definitely the best, just edging out Iowa.
We live in Texas, but several hours away from the DFW area. We managed to go to the fair one year anyway, and it was so worth it. Saw The Beach Boys and had a ball just people watching and eating. If you've never been, by all means, go!

FYI -- Every school district within 100 miles gets free student tickets. The last Friday is the Dallas ISD (city of Dallas) high school day. There will be soooo many students in the afternoon and evening. Just be warned. Of course, they stick to the midway and take all the prizes.

Aww how sweet are the piglet races 😊🐖 I'd definitely have to take one home. I'm not great on fair rides (scared of heights) but the food looks yummy and there seems to be, a lot to keep you occupied for a fun day out 🥁✨☀️🎺🙏🙂
The pig races were hilarious because the guy doing the talking had like whole little backstories for the pigs with their names. It was great
Back in the 80s in Plano, a northern suburb in the DFW Metroplex we used to get a long weekend so we could go either on a Friday or Monday.
Every school in the entire metroplex had "fair day" off. Not anymore
Biscoff cheesecake on a stick looks amazing
I thought it was good. Mark wasn't crazy about it. It arrived frozen, so it was really hard to eat with a plastic fork

Chris P. Bacon is a funny one I've heard. We do this in Tennessee. Also we let the kids chase a piglet and the one who catches it gets a prize. There's also sheep racing. The kids ride the sheep's back in a race. There's also a kids rodeo. They ride a calf. It just runs around. No bucking.
Fletchers is a must with mustard, ketchup is for children!
Also last Don't: Don't call it the Texas State Fair, its the State Fair Of Texas. Theres quite a few social media types who keep calling it that, gotta make them aware of their bad behavior ;)

Maybe it's just the day he went, but it looks relatively quiet compared to the Minnesota State Fair
It was a very light day (Monday)
It also runs over twice as long so it's less "condensed".
It looks like he also was there pretty early in the day. It’s hopping by dusk, and really busy on weekends. Edit: I also lived in Minnesota (Cedar Riverside in Minneapolis), and I’ve been to the Minnesota State Fair. Not as big as the State Fair of Texas if I recall, but man, it was a blast! The fair food there was great, and the weather was beautiful when I went.

Looks like. I go every year, and there are restrooms in almost every building. They can have really long lines, so plan accordingly.
THere were some, i would have liked more :) it is definietly not buc-ee's level of clean, but it is acceptable in the toilets

We thought about it, but with three people in the car it would have been about the same money. The parking lot was empty the day we went

(1) Don't fall for FAKE parking scams. Guys will set up on an empty lot and take your money to park - and you get towed

I know that this is wildly off-topic with this video but I must thank you as an Israeli and as an American for you coming to Tel Aviv recently and showing the world that the Jewish State isn't some extreme barbaric fundamentalist religious barbarians yes we have those types amongst us just like every society in the world and they are and will remain in the minority we are desperate for peace however we cannot live with a terrorist organization whose goal is Wipeout the Jewish people in unspeakable Ways which I will not mention but everybody knows at this point. Even in the best country in the world there are forces that have gathered and planned against the Jewish people have the Pittsburgh Massacre and dozens of other attacks and shootings and murders of Jews over the last couple of years have created a situation in which the Jews are no longer safe in the United States the only country that can protect us the only state entire reason for existence is the preservation of the Jewish people is the state of Israel I believe that once terrorism and hate is removed from the picture we've the Jewish people in Israel and our Muslim neighbors Palestinian or other Arabs in the region will reach a lasting peace Accord there is so much Prosperity happiness and advancement and benefits that we could give and produced for ourselves of the region and the entire world if we just take each other's hand in peace give up violence and hate
