- After getting my first taste of the Texas State Fair last year. I had to get fix trying 8 new Fair Food items. Ranging from Deep Fried concoctions of Oatmeal Pies, Bread pudding, and Cajun creole deliciousness. New items also including upgraded takes on desserts, and home cooking staples like Mac and Cheese & Grilled Cheese. Of course the best of best Big Tex likes to offer with his stamp of approval. I tried five 2023 award winners including 3 Savory items and 2 Dessert items. Find which items get the Food Guyde approval, and which food items you should skip when visiting the State Fair on today's Food Guyde. Enough About Me, and More About This Food.

My sister and brother in law own golf coast grill and crazy ottos. I worked there for one season. My favorite was the deep fried beef jerky.
The food prices are beyond ridiculous. And most food aren't worth half the cost. Had more fun looking around than food....

Fair food is cheapest ingredients sold at Themepark prices. If customers only knew
I stopped going to the texas state fair because of the ridiculous prices for food and drinks. The smoked turkey legs were $26. I even declined to go with free tickets.

Yes it’s no cash or card for anything in the fair. In order to ride rides. Buy food or drinks. You must exchange money for coupons at stations in the fair. It’s the fairs own currency. 1 dollar = 1 coupon
