I want Passan to be here forever he’s great
There would be no point to the games. It would just be Jeff winning it all
@@rts7469 Except Lucas and Max. Their knowledge of the game is kinda scary lol. Although they all are very good at it.
Tim Lincecum was an absolute streak of lightning and i miss watching him pitch so badly.
when i was younger i hated all the giants cus i was and am a rangers fan but i LOVED tim lincecum still
well Jolly has a video for you!
I'm going to be like this when Votto stops playing
See that wind-up always made me hyped up. He was such a force for that short period. Was a favorite and I'm a red Sox fan.
One of my favorite pitcher windups
Johan Santana in an Orioles hat is a cursed photo. Where did you guys even find that?
1. Passan getting medium because of how is amazing. 2. I did NOT have Millwood in Colorado.
The breadth of Dalton's knowledge never fails to impress me. Passan is also a gem! I'm not a fan of sports pundits, but he has so much credibility b/c of reasonability, extensive knowledge of the game, and dedication to his craft. He's one of my all-time favorites.
Hope they always include Passan
Knew Santana from that Braves year. He had received a qualifying offer and didn't find what he wanted on the market, ultimately signing with the Braves on a one year deal during spring training, after they had Medlen and Beachy get injured just days apart. This was before a player couldn't receive more than one QO, so the Braves offered him one again, and ultimately drafted Michael Soroka with the comp pick they got.
That's some decent trivia there
I can't believe only one person got Randy Johnson lol. I was gonna scream if no one got him.😂
Yeah he won 4 in a row. He was the first one that popped in my head.
So when i was 12 we won the little league championship that year, why that's important is because chris carpenter was there to watch and hand us our trophies. His dad owned the business that was our sponsor. This would of been 2000-2001 so it was before he blew up but i remember him being sooooo cool. He stayed and took pictures with everyone and with us as a team and sat and talked to us about baseball. It was super cool.
I love Ervin Santana. That 2008 teams was one of my favorite with weaver and lackey
Passan's energy is so fun. Great guest. 👍
I love Chris Carpenter to start it as EZ
Missed the last one but I'm just glad I got Ervin Santana immediately.
14:43 Santana with the Baltimore cap is a strange choice……. Uncomfortable even…
I watched Kevin's no hitter with the Phillies vs the giants as a kid. And that's the only way I knew that one 😂
Just when you think Sales Lucas has done it all, he does even more.
Bro is quickly improving his station around here
Ervin Santana was also in an episode of Nitro Circus back in the day throwing tomatoes at the guys at full speed.
I get so hyped when I go 3 for 3 on these. I started watching baseball the same time y’all did so these are so nostalgic for me
2:27 The 1954 Indians. had 3 HOF pitchers and were swept by the Giants.
Not only did Carpenter miss 1.5 seasons after TJ, he missed almost all of 2007 and 2008 and came back dealing.
It wasn't just TJ. He had a rib removed as well.
Passan should just join JM full time
I have not thought about Kevin Millwood in over a decade and I don't know who I channelled to say his name on that, amazed myself.
Got 8/10, missed Halladay and Johan while thinking Felix and Price got a 2nd
Everyone: "I don't remember Ervin Santana with the Braves"
Me, the Braves fan: "I only know this because of the Braves year." Shared a rotation that year with fellow Braves legend Aaron Harang
HARANG gross
And Gavin Floyd mr elbow injury
Absolutely love the Passan content
That’s a dope hat that Dan has. 🔥
Anybody who only had basic cable in the late 90s and therefore watched every Braves game on TBS should remember Kevin Millwood. Denny Neagle was another guy who magically got good for a season just by pitching with the Three Braves Aces.
Wow I can’t believe that none of them got Randy except Jolly he was the first guy I thought of
Maybe everyone had Randy in the 90s on their minds?
I blindly got easy; I’m too young to remember him ever being in Toronto. Got medium instantly because he was one of the better arms for that era of Angels teams. Hard was a wild guess but I somehow got it.
11:50 darn it! Couldn’t get Millwood before the first correct guess😂
That Chris carpenter one really threw me off glad I got it. Had no idea he was a blue jay since I only started following baseball closely around 05
My immediate thought was him, but I second guessed it bc I could've sworn he pitched later than 2012
For the 3rd one, anytime I think of pitchers who played in Atlanta and Colorado I go right to Mike Hampton - but I knew it wasn't him, and couldn't remember his name anyway. The closest I got was "Mike Hailwood" (the motorcycle racer), but some fun word association got me to the right guy.
Ervin “magic” Santana
Never cheered so loud and wanted to punch my TV more in the same season then watching this dude
Can't believe it took me as long as it did to get medium, yet hard was 5 seconds. 🤦🏼♂️
Cardinals won multiple world series on carps back. Most clutch pitcher they have had in a long long time.
Oooooo more Jeff passion content W
the 5 complete games and 3 shutouts for Philly in '03 was the giveaway for me. really good set players this episode.
I always remember Ervin Santana on the Braves, strictly because of the Adrelton Simmons defensive highlights.
Looking back, Carpenter was one heck of a pitcher but his stats also show the difference in offenses between leagues prior to the DH in the NL
Passan looking like a Mormon missionary and dropping F-Bombs is hilarious.
Damn Jeff Passan winning RefGuess and filling MLB Connect in 12 seconds
For the longest time I thought Toronto and St Louis Chris Carpenter were two different players.
4:16 Ervin Santana
So cool to see Ervin Santana, I can't exactly put my finder on why, but I absolutely loved him with the twins
"Who's going to the Hall of Fame?...
Roger Clemens."
😂😂😂😂
Disappointed I only got 4/10 on the final. COMPLETELY forgot about how dominant Lincecum and Kluber were.
I was saying the exact same thing about wainwright and carpenter being the same person in my brain 😂😂
Jeff Passan is too good!
Potential Future Theme: Rule 5 Draftees?
Passan is awesome on these.
Jeff Passan is a machine
I love Jolly and not just because he's a Mets fan
I’m so bad at this but today I actually got the first two!!
Outro was delightful
God these guys are so young they weren’t able to get Chris Carpenter right away 🥲
Shoutout to Dalton for actually pronouncing Toronto right! Us canadians dont pronounce the second T
I am a little shocked at how similar the team profiles of Kevin Millwood and Bruce Chen are: ATL, PHI, BAL, and TEX all in common.
Cleveland as well, one year each
Hell yeah 2012 Kevin Millwood! Got that Co-No hitter because he got hurt and had to leave the game after like 5 innings lol
Listening to passan curse while he's got a suit and tie on with the pretty boy hair makes me lose it.😂😂
Not getting kevin millwood drove me nuts i used to love that guy on the braves
Many years of sporcle quizzes helped me get the bonus question haha
As a british guy who barely is able to see baseball outside of youtube and games I think I did rather well with the final, 8/10 missed DeGrom and Halladay (worst bit I'd even said Halladay out loud but thought his 1st Cy Young came before 2000) I mean I even said Kluber as a neutral isn't half bad
I'm a fellow Brit and you beat me, I got 7 out of 10. Mad at myself for missing Kluber and Santana, and aside from the 2011 Cardinals the period when Lincecum was dominant was probably the time in my adult life when my baseball awareness/following was at its lowest.
@@StefanWB I only started really following baseball a few years ago but I'm a history snob, I'm mad at Halladay since I actually said yes then no I had him then said nah not bothered, means places like this have helped my knowledge grow rather fast
Millwood 9:40
What's the music at the start of the video it's so FLAMES
"Oh now I remember him. I was on a bus and breaking the news he was signing a new contract" Rest of the panel will have trouble matching stories like that.
Fun fact: Chris Carpenter was the pitcher that gave up the Manny Ramirez shot that went into the fifth deck of the SkyDome
0:45 Chris carpenter
People always forget about Brandon Backe on that Astros squad. He wasn’t as good as Clemens, Petite, and Oswalt, but he was a great 4… and he could actually hit (which mattered then).
Okay. Passan is actually the best. Nice!!
I'll absolutely never forget Ervin Santana's no hitter against Cleveland. He gave up a run and we couldn't do shit
3 for 3 today. I'm hyped
Idea: Players who played on the two teams farthest apart geographically: Mariners and Marlins. Easy: Ichiro or Jean Segura, Medium: Dee Strange-Gordon or Miguel Olivo, Hard: Logan Morrison or Arthur Rhodes
As a Cards guy I couldn't not get the first one, but somehow I'd completely forgotten he came up with the Blue Jays. Had no hope on the other two, my brain couldn't get past Jered Weaver even though I knew Weaver didn't pitch in 2021. Was proud of myself for getting 7 out of 10 of the multiple Cy Young - I knew Pedro was wrong, but I missed Kluber, Santana, and Big Time Timmy Jim. The one I was most confident with only to be wrong was I was sure Grienke had two, and my other guesses were Keuchel and Maddux but I knew they were wrong.
As another Cards guy I'll never forget Lincecum eking out a Cy Young in 2009 over both Carp and Waino.
The first two I blanked on but got Millwood immediately. Crazy
Why did they have Johan Santana in a Baltimore hat?
Was wondering the same thing! Just looked him up to double-check and he never pitched for them!
Have we ever seen Jeff passan & hoodie Allen in the same place?
Brandon Webb fucked me up good for the trivia game. I was never as sure as anything in my life as him having 2, turns out he had a win then two straight 2nd place finishes from '06-'08...
I'm usually pretty good at Ref guess, but I completely bombed on the second one. Completely forgot about Ervin Santana...
i'm not sure what ethnicity jolly is but he's absolutely gunning for jake's title of italian stallion
I got hard so quick and struggled so hard for medium until the Yankee/Twin WC game was brought up
The only one I blanked on for the 10 cy young winners was Kluber, I have no recollection of him winning two 😂
Oh man starting pitchers. This is straight in my wheelhouse. I was able to maxmannis the first three, and got the trivia without much difficulties. Hooray for keeping track of the wins statistic every year since 2005.
DAMN. How did I not get Millwood? I'm sorry Kevin you had a good career, should have got it
I think using the back of a baseball card for the stats would be a cool twist on this
I got Milwood right away because as a little kid I was at his no hitter
I wanna see a max manis Jeff Passan head to head duel
God I love Passan
they ain’t kiddin when they say ervin follows way too many people on twitter. he follows me 😂
seeing degrom in the rangers hat still breaks my heart
Not quite as weird as seeing Santana in an O's hat, but yeah.
Not gonna lie I was drawing a blank on the second one until someone mentioned he started the 2017 WC game and then it clicked immediately, imma give myself the pass on that one
I did good. This is fun! I need to do this with some friends.
Ervin Santana followed me on twitter too at the time he was my only follower 😂😂
Jake said “Maxwell Scherzer”, but his first name is actually Maximum
Didn’t know Passan was with Jomboy Media
“Crazy you said Barry Zito”
Jolly should do players who won the ASG MVP
Thought that Millwood was Denny Neagle for a hot second
Imagine my shock when I answered Chris sale for the trivia round and found out he has ZERO cy young’s
Jolly got the same 8 I could think of
Passan looks like Hoodie Allen's uncle
The Randy Johnson disrespect in the final round smh
How does most of the guys miss randy jonhson, Dalton would NEVER
