    I went to PE years ago. It was so hot so I must have gone there in the hottest time. It was really beautiful.
    I took a 2nd class bus from Oaxaca. That was interesting being a older solo traveler. I arrived at night so
    didn't know where to stay, but luckily I was close to a older hotel that the costs were only $10 a night. In the
    morning I woke up to a ocean view and very loud roosters. I will never forget that place. . I wish I stayed longer.
    It was a very spiritual journey. Going back soon!

    Maybe you're not the one to be asking this, Anna, but you're a little closer to my age than some of the other TH-camrs, so maybe you'll understand the question better. I'm living on a VA pension here in the States and would like to re-locate to Mexico more-or-less permanently the crazier it gets here in the U.S. What should I be looking for in the way living quarters, something that's clean, within walking distance to the beach, something with a stove and a refrigerator, and something I can afford. I get a little more than a thousand a month from the government. If you answer this and I wind up anywhere near you, I'll buy you and your daughter dinner.

    • @TravelMamaAnnaVon
      @TravelMamaAnnaVon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the further you go from the beach the more affordable it will be. We live a 10-15 minute walk from the beach instead of on it, half the price. And no bullshit with salt and storms and sand. Living on the beach is death to electronics and your floors. come check it out and see what works for you

    Hi anna, im traveling with my 8 month old doughter as well and was curius about the bonobo hostel that you were talking about. So i checked it out in the internet and there is written in the houserules that children under 18 are not allowed. For me is it always a bit strange if hostels dont allow you to bring your child with. I dont understand why? Are they expecting that your child will disturb the other persons or what do you think is the reason behind it? Im still wondering about. I had great experience to stay in hostels with a baby. The people all over loved to stay with that little monkey :)

    • @TravelMamaAnnaVon
      @TravelMamaAnnaVon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HEy Izzy - Write to the hostel and tell them you are traveling with an 8 month old. They have that rule because a lot of parents don't parent. I go there with Luna all the time and they are always happy to see us! But I spoke with the owner about this before and she said that they have had bad experiences with children - also, not sure if you are from a Western country, but usually they just ban kids rather than actually deal with them. If you are from outside of the West, it IS very rude culturally for the rest of the world. I also loved traveling with Luna in hostels when she was young as long as we got the right one if you email them direct and talk to the owner about your case, they might be fine - any seasoned traveler with a dog or a baby is usually so well informed and good at community living that it's not an issue - that rule is most likely for people that just didn't know how to hostel with kids. if they won't budge - casa losodeli is very nice and close by and Mexican run - definitely more open

    • @izzocl
      @izzocl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your answer. Im not in mexico currently (but i will definetly go back there again:)) i was curius, because i just came back to switzerland from my travel trought south africa where i expierienced that not every hostel allows you to come with your child, the first one canceld my reservation at 6 pm, one hour before i arrived and didnt even want to pay back the reservation deposit. From that point i was paing attantion on this houserule before i booked and wondered a lot about. I mean if parents dont want to go to a hostel with their kids i can definetly understand, but if a hostel keeps it as a houserule not allowing them to come was hard for me to understand. Im new i this mombuissnes, before i had never have to think about something like this :) and in the summertime we have been around in europe with my van, so no bookings nedded :) anyway probably is like you said, that they may had bad expierience. All the best for you and luna, you are doing a great job and luna is adorable

    Yah! So glad you’re doing this. I’ve been looking at Playa and Merida but, would love a smaller scene. This looks awesome.

    • @TravelMamaAnnaVon
      @TravelMamaAnnaVon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Merida is the best place for women from the states to start I feel - there is such an incredible community of parents and entreprenur's there - and culturally it's very similar to the south of the US. If you are serious about moving, send me an email and I'll intro you to Amoya - trippin' momma - she's out there and a great resource to have. Puerto is great too, but you need to speak spanish here and do more heavy lifting for sure. we don't have many bank machines or uber and you can't hail a cab in most parts. all things i love but i feel it's like a work up to it kinda place hahaha

    • @shamekastephens6688
      @shamekastephens6688 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travel Mama Anna Von awwww, thanks. I’ve been. On Amoya’s videos also.
      I am serious about moving. Originally chose Playa but, her videos in Merida have me intrigued definitely.
      We’re coming down in spring. We’ll start in Playa since we’ve connected with folk through Facebook groups but definitely will be going to Merida for a bit too to compare the two.
      Thanks a bunch!
      We’re super ready to go. Honestly just waiting on the sale of our house to be complete.

    Puerto has always been on my hit list for years! My husband is from Mexico so we tend to waiver around his area and I am tired of it. Thanks fro this guide it helps for anyone wanting to head there for a visit(or a move). I do have a question, it seems a lot of your videos have businesses that are run by foreigners. Is this the norm there? Or is it just the type of businesses like especially the eateries or hotel/bar type places that may be more trendy? Just curious. I also wonder if this affects the pricing of the places and areas as well. Thanks!
