Update: It wasn't a glitch with the particle render node, I had left the node set to 3d and needed to manually switch it to 2d. Normally when you build out the system, the node will automatically switch from 3d to 2d when you pipe it into a 2d node, but once you have it in the 3d viewer, it will not automatically swap to 2d so will not connect to 2d nodes. You can manually switch it to 2d and it'll work correctly. Thanks to Frigby Chilwether for pointing it out that it was still in 3d when I shot this. Also, a few of you have asked for a tutorial on how to recreate the cell division tutorial in Fusion and for other tutorials made in other platforms. I will look into it. I think that could be a fun series to do as long as the original creator is attributed.
Hey CB, nice of you to give credit to Simon Ubsdell. I appreciate the integrity! Blob techniques have been around for a long time and there's some really good tutorials out there on the subject, no doubt. Joe Clay (from Workbench) has some good ones too, you should check them out. For the levels tool in Fusion, try the Color Curves node. BC and CC nodes also affect color properties with sliders but they lack curve controls, and I am assuming by "levels" you are interested in the curve controls to manipulate the alpha. As for connecting a 3D particle renderer node to a 2D merge, you dont have to change the renderer's mode from 3D to 2D manually. A quick way to do it is simple throw your 2D merge node into the viewer, then connect your 3D renderer to it. Because the view will be 2D, the renderer will automatically follow your hint that you are working or viewing in 2D.
Saad Shah thanks for that 2d/3d tip, it really threw me for a loop. I just recently discovered Joe’s channel and watched a couple vids. I’m definitely gonna deep dive it when I get time. As for the blob thing, super cool. I started off in Computer Animation in college and finished up as a Compositor, but always wanted to dive more into the visual effects side of the house. So a lot of these techniques are kinda new to me, but as I get more into it, I’m constantly amazed by what this free program can do. Thanks for all the tips, I’ll be sure to pass them along!
This is an awesome substitute for an effect I was trying to work on. Although I'm having some issue getting the particles to behave and hide behind the text. 🤣Either way, thanks for the help! I always look forward to learning some more editing strategies.
I think there's a real market for "how to do in Fusion what someone did in alternative application [X]". I don't consider it stealing, either, given the UI / UX process can be so different, it takes some real work. Attribution to originator would be enough I reckon?
Hi, nice technique. Regarding not being able to connect the pRender to Merge, I've never encountered that particular bug but it looks like at first you had the pRender set to 3D not 2D so would need to go through a Merge3D first. I realise you probably know this.
hi, I would be very interested in recreating the cell division in "Fusion 16" as Simon Ubsdell did in Apple Motion. I'd like you to do a tutorial thanks and congratulations 😊

Excellent tutorial.
Thanks Marco!

@@CBSuper most welcome!

Amazing !!
You're the best.
Thanks!

I agree, I need to do more of these!

Frigby Chilwether oh dang, I didn’t even notice that. Thanks!
Cool!
thanks Evocati!

Thanks Mirko, I'm still trying to get that Drop down thing worked out, one of these days I'll master it!
