Doug was a great owner, certainly one from the past. Richardson at CCFC, Bob Butcher Lord at Burnley, Delia at Norwich and the guy at Ipswich whose name evades me. Real fans of real clubs should never forget these guys.
Best chairman in the country is Steve Gibson at Middlesbrough and it’s not even close. Local man who took over in his younger years and saved the club from deaths door. Took them into the prem, built a quality stadium, signed world class players such as Juninho, Ravanelli and Emerson and then pushed them to a several finals and eventually to a league cup final victory and a European run to a UEFA cup final.
Some man. Some story. I'm a Leeds fan, so i never knew this. Old enough to have watched Juninho and Ravanelli at their peak at Boro. At that time, 2 of the best players in the Prem. Juninho could have played for any team in the world.
Robins dragged us out of League Two, saw us through two periods of not even playing at our home ground, got us within a kick of the Premier League, in a season when we had a points deduction because the pitch was unplayable, and was robbed of an FA cup final. All whilst selling our best players for peanuts (Gyokeres for £15mil), whilst the owner failed to reinvest any of that money. We're three points off the top half in a tight league. The owner's surname may well be King, but we all know who the real King is. Replacement wise, surely Carsley is the obvious option.
@@dannyquinn9128 It was a good shout and I would take Carsley, but I just have a feeling the ambitious managers will avoid Coventry. Let's be honest, the squad isn't really a top quality Championship level squad and Robins worked miracles with the players. I think people underestimate what a great job Robins did.
Failed to reinvest that money? We’ve had 50 million of signings over the last 18 months off the back of selling Hamer and Gyokeres. Robins should have been given time to turn this around.
No, anybody but Lampard. We want someone with experience who has managed at other premiership clubs, and who is prepared to start at championship level. Moyes comes to mind he has had success and failure but it disciplined and understands the game. West Ham were stupid to get rid of him, even took them into Europe.
Lampards body of work in the Championship? Crooky is flipping clueless! I'd hardly call finishing 6th with the best assembled squad in that league and losing in a diabolical play-off final as a body of work bragging about!
As an Everton fan from Coventry (long story) I wish them all the best if Lampard is appointed. Championship level may be his level but he wants to play football in way that he wants to spend millions on world class players, tried that at Everton and got found out big time. Same at Chelsea in his 2nd stint.
After taking my time to comment about this obviously at first it was a shock I was gutted blaming the chairman the performance coach and the players. Having listened to the chairman on BBC CWR on Monday night and taken a day or two to digest what he said I’m of the opinion as a Coventry fan we have to back the chairman and whoever comes in as the new first team coach. We have to support Coventry City without us the Sky Blue Army there is no Coventry City FC I understand feeling apprehensive given our history with previous owners we have good young players and everything in place to make us successful we must move forward together PUSB
I do have a theory about Robins. It all started with losing Adi Viveash & Dennis Lawrence which started the slump in results. Robins was not happy about the forced change in backroom staff and told DK. DK was not happy then with Robins and wanted an excuse to get rid.
Nothing against Frank personally but he has done nothing to suggest he’s the right man. Unfortunately he (along with Rooney, Gerrard etc) will bring a negativity along with him in that people far and wide will be willing him to fail, they attract a bad vibe to the club. Also the last time we picked up a high profile ex superstar as manager (Strachan) he got us relegated from the top league after being in there for 35 years unbroken.
I remember the Strachan era well. Started brightly, soon became a dog's dinner. There's simply no manager better suited to Coventry at this moment than Mark Robins.
Frank’s CV is woeful as a manager. Kevin Muscat should be considered, since missing out on Millwall and Rangers jobs, he’s won a J League title, just won a title in China along with multiple titles in Australia. And he could bring Oscar 🇧🇷 with him! PUSB

King has made a stupid move. Listening to him speaking to the fans' forum on Monday, we know why. He had backed a duo and, then, the duo had a falling out and one left. Could the remaining one manage? Yes, but not it seemed (after just 13 games), as spectacularly as the duo. So, King, in his impatience and greed, swung the axe. In that moment, he trashed 7 years history and binned arguably one of the best managers in the top two divisions. Whoever he brings in better have his magic wand about him. He needs to conjure up an experienced centre back, a combative defensive midfielder, a genuine 10, and left and right backs for cover. Don't expect King to contribute any money. All he does is reinvest some of what we get for selling the club's best players. Still, adversity is what this club thrives on. PUSB.
Dear Simon. If as and when given the chance/opportunity, Will you consider managing a prem team.Or any team in England or Europe. And if so NAME the team please . No "BS" . Please give us all an honest answer..waiting....
The “I personally believe” bullshit is what made Simon Jordan a terrible club owner. Man just can’t make decisions without a personal philosophy behind it.
Smells of Rooney at Birmingham but I hope I'm wrong, Coventry really stand at a crossroads 😬
Lampard has a better CV than Rooney, all we can do is back the team.
I'd take lampard, thers no one who stands out it's a gamble with anyone who could be good or bad, we will see 👀
Still amazed at the decision but that's footie I'm afraid
What the A45

I don't think Carsley would take it. Coventry are on the slide, and it will only be accelerated now Robins has gone.
@D1Snr Probably wishful thinking from me, he used to play for us and has a good record with young players.

Yes, after Frank left.

What is this ridiculous notion that Lampard is an intellect. It’s absurd, maybe because the average player is so low it’s propping him up?
