I’m a 43yo female who is experiencing this BPPV symptoms for about 10 days. Normally I live a healthy life style, workout regularly no health issues and When I had the first spinning I thought I have brain tumour or something….:) Thank’s God today I found out the name of these symptoms… My symptoms are brief episodes of dizziness with moving the head, often when rolling over in bed or getting up in the morning, also feel nauseous between episodes of vertigo. Somedays are stronger someday very light … I did some of the movements but didn’t help much …, maybe I don’t do them correctly… I’ll try more tomorrow… Thank you doctor for taking your time and explaining it to ppl as me …., this way I won’t spend 5hours in the ER and to be sent home with a wrong diagnoses Thank you 🙏
I’ve had severe BPPV a number of times, where I can’t walk, drive or function. I went to my doc., he knew nothing , but then came home & learned from a YT video how to get rid of it. So now I do the eye exercises when the vertigo is mild, preventing it from getting worse. If I ignore the early dizziness it will get much worse. Dehydration may be a factor, since I need to drink more water. The hip moving exercises didn’t work for me. The eye exercises are amazing, BUT, the worse the vertigo, the longer I need to spend doing them, but u can do them anywhere if feeling a bit off, like in the car.
I fractured my neck after a car accident and now I feel like I’m suffering from this condition. I’m in my late 20s and it sucks i have to deal with this. Hopefully it goes away
I woke one morning and could not even stand up without hanging on to something! I was spinning out of control. Diagnosed with Labyrinthitis the next couple of weeks were hell😢. BBPV May be benign but it severely affects your quality of life! I had a bad attack whilst at the Minnesota State Fair and the police believed I was drunk or affected by drugs! Luckily I was carrying a card from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney explaining my condition!❤
Your crystals are probably dislodged in your right ear, sometimes laying on your left ear lot can even reset them, but of course you can do the Epley maneuver, especially if the crystals are posterior.
One thing that sets my bppv off is dehydration . My doctor told me he'd heard or read that lowering salt in your diet may help . So started looking at my salt intake and it was quite high . I try to limit salt in my diet now and stay hydrated. I now, rarely have a problem . Ive dealt with this for 10 plus years, I'm not positive the salt made the difference but I'm vastly better now . The dehydration was definitely a problem. The speed of the Cristal during treatment was noticeably slower and took longer for my world to stop spinning during treatment . It's been about 3 years since I lowered my salt intake. In the beginning I had a few episodes. And now nearly none . Just extremely light dizziness, mostly during hot weather and it goes away in a day or so with rehydration. Hopefully this helps someone.
I believe this is what caused the extreme case of vertigo that I had yesterday. I hadn’t had as much water as I normally do and I had Mexican food which is of course salty. I woke up yesterday with a terrible episode that left me unable to even get out of the bed and in fact, I was still spinning in bed. That lasted most of the day. What a nightmare!
White processed table salt can cause problems but not pink salt or Celtic salt which have their trace minerals still. Salt (sodium) is an electrolyte which helps the body retain hydration. Plain water is actually dehydrating as it just washes out your electrolytes.
My vertigo attacks started 8 months after I got Covid. Lost half my hair too. Thankfully it has grown back. I’m so glad I found your half somersault maneuver, it is the only thing that has really helped so far.
Same happened to me! Got Covid & 2 mos later gobs of my hair fell out just like after childbirth. I got very sick with pnuemonia & bronchitis, was horrible. Im asthmatic so it added to it. Was using my nebulizer every hour. Thing is, before getting Covid, I fell hard on my R side & thats the side I get dizzy on.
I'm 59 and I've had this since my 20's. I was always told it's blood rushing to or from my head. I'll keep plugging away at some of the treatments I'm finding online. Thanks for the video, sir!
Super helpful. I got vertigo two months ago and until now was never able to attribute to really anything (neither did any of the doctors during my hospital stay) I am an older female with diabetes, like I said...super helpful...THANK YOU!
Immer wieder danke. Genau das habe ich..so gut beschrieben. Hatte, auch angst gehabt...Mensch Meier.....nun ist es klar. Alles liebe gesund bleiben....fur alle....
Was diagnosed with severe vertigo after viral infection. Got so bad some days I could not get out of bed. Sought physical therapy and I can finally have more good days then bad.
I recently realized I have an alcohol problem- I get vertigo really bad for a day or two after heavily drinking. The first couple times it happened I thought I was having a stroke. And I unfortunately am suffering from it right now. I can’t even make it from the bedroom to the kitchen without having to fall to my knees to protect myself from falling and hurting myself. Never become an alcoholic- I didn’t realize how bad I was getting until it was too late. Thank you for your videos.
Sorry to hear you’re struggling so much. Alcohol causes a different type of vertigo because it changes the fluid dynamics in the inner ear and can be quite debilitating. I wish you the best in your recovery and I believe in you. You got this! Keep fighting the good fight for your health.
Have had numerous episodes of BPPV which, thank God have responded to the Epley Maneuver. Initially treated by a caring PT co worker who is a balance specialist, I have successfully performed the Epley during subsequent episodes on myself. Although I have never read the reference, I am strongly convinced that my BPPV episodes were associated with alcohol consumption. BTW, I am 70, no longer drink and have had no more episodes. 🙏🏻. I shudder to think how many people suffer from BPPV and don’t realize how treatable it typically is. Unfortunately, many MD’s are not aware of the multiple maneuver treatment options.
Glad you were able to get treated! Unfortunately many suffer too long with this. As a practitioner its really satisfying to treat because even just one or two Epley maneuvers can really make a big difference. I now recommend the half somersault maneuver. Thanks for sharing your experience and great work staying away from alcohol!
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy Thanks for your comment. I was fortunate to be responsive at first treatment which was overwhelming. Trusting your practitioner who is reassuring that the results from the traumatic experience will be worth it is critical.
Hmmm…I’ve been dizzy for almost two months now. Done a bunch of tests thinking it was something more severe. Everything checked out. One thing I always mentioned is how I remember the exact moment it started. I rarely drink. Just socially. One night I drank a pint of crown relatively quick. Got a nice buzz. Went to sleep. Woke up early and went work a 12hr shift with a very mild hangover. Nothing major. Until the end of the shift I got extremely woozy out of nowhere. Which never happens. Always thought there was a connection there. I rarely drink but the day after drinking and having a hangover this starts??
I started experiencing vertigo about a year and a half ago. After trying to deal with it on my own, I was finally seen for it. I was given a medication called meclizine and referred to PT. At the same time, my hemoglobin was continuously dropping. Every time I was checked over about a year, it was lower than the time before. My doctor put it together that I was becoming anemic due to a fibroid that I had and put me on iron supplements. I’ve since also had surgery to remove the fibroid and haven’t had any problems with vertigo for months. All of this is to say that if you’re not getting better like you should be, make sure to see about what else could be causing it.
Ive had lightheadness for 2 yrs bern to have all my exams plus ear blood sugar all normal scan on yhe head as well..ehy do i suffer from this do have califying bones in the neck shoukder and arm pain on the right side ...please help !!!! Thank you
Thank you; after first ER trip local hospital they did NOT mention BPPV. After the 2nd ER trip where i spent 2 nights they did NOT mention this. After my THIRD ER STAY AT THE THIRD HOSPITAL they finally diagnosed me. 3 ER visits; 3 different hospitals; 2 different stays and i get it. Do NOT know how many doctors i even saw on this last overnight stay. Was on a zoom call with a nationally known neruologist going over it with another doctor in the ER room. Butt hey the food was so good at the last hospital i had to give out a compliment. And nurse Penny was exceptional !
Nice. The doctor told me I wasn't going to die, prescribed Auro-betahistine which made me feel like I was going to die, then I watched this video and problem solved! Thank you.
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy Very informative. Ive read that being bed bound can be a cause for BPPV. Is this true, and what byproduct of being bed bound is it that causes it? (Ive been bed bound now for 2 months & just started getting BBPV symptoms.) Ive also had to constantly clear/pop my ears thru-out the day. Thks!
Great vid. The first time I had it I thought I was having a stroke. I was dizzy fell to my right side on my knees and was sill falling to my right until I was laying on the ground and still kept rolling to the right. VERY SCARY! ! At that time I was sixty seven.
Michael I have the same type of 'attacks' which you have described. It is a very violent & quick type of dizziness that knocks you out to the ground for a few seconds !!! I experienced it 4 times to date and fell to the ground on my right side. I sustained injuries to my head & face. I soon discovered that it is vertigo and am trying the BPPV exercise . It's actually very scary if you happen to get an attack whilst on a ladder or roof !!!!
Ive had some type of virus for the past 10 days and had my first vertigo episode yesterday. Thank you for confirming that the virus is probably the cause.
You're welcome! Hope you recover quickly! If you haven't already, check out this video for the half somersault maneuver to help your vertigo: th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you sir, I found your video explanation and presentation very helpful. I have personally experienced this symptom on a number of occasions and it's not very pleasant especially as you get older. My first encounter with this was when I was showering and after I had turned my head a few times the whole world started spinning around and I had to slide down in the bath and then reach for the emergency cord to switch it the shower off. Now that I have watched your video it has helped immensely with making me more aware what is going on and how to manage it in the future. Thank you so much for sharing your professional medical expertise.
Really well explained, I have just ecperienced 4 dayes of disyness and went to my doktor, where i got shown a TH-cam video with exercises that could remove the disiness, and it worked great. I am back to normal. Thanks again for your video
Am 33yrs I have Bppv for 5 yrs now I tried the exercises but still no changes. But thank u for the explanation… to explain to those who don’t understand it correctly it’s harmless but it feels like a black out for ten seconds. Dr told me to sleep on one side but I have done that 😢 two yrs no change told me to move my head slow not rush to sides but still no change
I just got one treatment at physical therapy and wow, amazing .If I'd only known. I suffered for 6 months. I couldn't walk or stand or eat. Nausea vomiting, I thought it was a new med I'd been put on,so I didn't want to tell dr. After a plane trip it got worse,I crawled to dr.. He knew immediately because he's a pilot,it had happened to him. If you suspect it seek treatment
I currently having this bppv 😓 this is the first time I experience this kind of dizziness, I was afraid I thought I'm dying because when I open my eyes the ceiling was spinning too fast, but glad I was able to see a doctor & I was advised do some exercise for bbpv, I always watching more video about vertigo since then and also taking medicine for that. Thank you so much for this video.
I’ve had that twice and needed to hear from others with this to tell me it would stop because three weeks was a very long time to me. Keep doing the exercises, I found they worked better than any meds. You can do it 😊
True yesterday out of nowhere i woke up and had severe vertigo i was so scared it gave me a panic attack which i healed by changing my sleeping routine and life style but still it truggered my anxiety to the next level yesterday was a really bad day 😔still I’m dizzy and my head is not stable but I’m glad we are together in this 🙏🏻
Thank you for this. I had the covid vaccine, I work long hours and when I had the vaccine I was working on my feet non stop. My diet was poor due to being busy and a bit stressed. I then got illnesses such as stomach illnesses and a UTI. My immune system was very poor as well. We were also in the midst of our winter. After the long stretches of working in retail on my feet, I had an injury. I fell on my coccyx. I couldn't walk that day. The next day I forced myself to go walking (I am a runner) to work the pain out. As a result after all this plus antibiotics for the UTI, I began with this positional vertigo and a motion sickness feeling in between. Knowing what this is and what it's from really helps and is truly comforting. I still think I need to go to a ENT though. But thank you for this video. It was very helpful
You’re welcome and thanks for watching! Holy smokes you’ve been through a lot! I wish you the best on your path to wellness. Hang in there and keep working on it, you’re worth it!
These issues have been pretty common for people all over the world throughout the pandemic, keep in mind that loads of people are getting these issues from actually having COVID. It has nothing to do with it being a vaccine, it’s literally just the virus itself. You can develop the same issues from exposure to either.
Hi sister I also have uti how’s your health now may be due to pills im getting this vertigo out of nowhere. Or may be inner ear is the real cause as doctors told me.
Ended up in the emergency room yesterday. Woke up at a hotel, stood up and the room was spinning so badly that I sort of wobbled to the bathroom, puked and laid on the floor for an hour. Shaving and showering was extremely difficult. I had had light dizziness for the prior two days, but yesterday was intense. I googled, and its a big symptom of a stroke, so it was off to the emergency room. Doctors determined it was BPPV, so now I’m doing research to understand what it is & how to prevent it in the future. Today is much better, but I’m still walking around like I’m slightly drunk.
Did they confirm it was BPPV by doing a Dix-Hallpike? You can reset your own crystals, depending on which canal they’re in will tell you which type of maneuver to do for yourself, Don’t get discouraged because sometimes people have 5 to 10 of them in a row and sometimes over a week before they’re completely better. I’m not saying this is you but don’t get discouraged. If you have migraines or if you’re just older or you do a lot of mountain biking or like he said you got hit in the head and other things. And even after the crystals are reset sometimes people kill sometimes people can feel a little bit dizzy for up to another week because their brain is readjusting trying to take vitamin D three and rival flavor 400 mg and magnesium. I hope you feel better, see an ENT or a vestibular physical therapist if you can’t reset your crystals yourself, but I promise you it’s not hard to reset them. Sometimes the crystals can just evaporate and then you just get better without doing any type of hand maneuver. These crystals always kind of evaporate in new ones are always being formed. The first time I experienced my forest BPV it went away by itself and then it came back again and it went away and then it came back a third time and it wouldn’t go away, and my head was so sensitive to any kind of motion that I finally went to the ENT, who reset them and then I learned just had to do it myself. Sometimes when I’m dizzy afterwards for a number of das it’s just my brain getting used to it.
I was diagnosed with BPPV at age 31 one after a horrible upper respiratory infection and bad pneumonia. It was my first year working with preschoolers during flu season and I was bombarded with germs. That was 8 years ago. I can't do the Epley because I get violently ill and get a weird intense headache afterwards so I have been sleeping on a wedge pillow with the bad ear up for the last several years. This has caused shoulder pain where I can't lift up my shoulder anymore. I may have to attempt the Epley again.
I had to do the Epley again recently at home. I asked my sig other to stand at my head. He had never seen my eyes jumping around. Thank goodness he was there. I got dizzy so bad that I yelled, he grabbed my hand and then I felt safe.
@@catet.5972 hi there im so sorry i hope ur doing well now how are u feeling? So ive been sleeping upright with pillows for almost 2 years and i use cervical collars sometimes the soft ones whch are used for travel. Do u take any meds to control ur vertigo
@@Ellier215 im currently recovering from covid and a chest ear and sinus infection. I feel faint and lightheaded. My first bppv attack started few years ago bfore covid and ive had constant ear probs snce.
I had this come on in the middle of the night when I went to roll over in my sleep and woke up screaming with intense dizziness. I know mine was related to a virus because I got the most insanely dry lips I've ever had in my life and also fatigue and muscle weakness during the same week when this started. Thanks for confirming virus as a cause. I have been praying over myself and have felt a huge improvement since doing that earlier today.
That’s a horrible feeling to wake up to! If you haven’t yet, it highly recommend doing the half somersault maneuver: Vertigo Cure (BPPV) Self Treatment (2022) th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.html
@ I have started drinking diatomaceous earth in the morning and the symptoms have greatly reduced (its anti-viral) so was wondering if I should still do manoeuvres or just keep sleeping upright and see how it goes…
I was in the hospital a few weeks ago. I was diagnosed with Bppv . They did the Epsly on me and it worked , but only lasted a day . P.T. comes to my home to do exercises, but they are not helping . I can not lay on my left side at all . I am diabetic with poor eating habits . Type 2 . I wouldn't wish Bppv on my worst enemy!! I pray that it goes away for us all who have it . 🛐
So sorry to hear you are suffering so much with this! There is a maneuver you can do yourself that works better than the Epley maneuver for many people with BPPV. I made a video about it here: th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.html I also created a program than teaches you how to do the maneuver, what to do if the vertigo gets worse or the maneuver doesn't work, and how to keep BPPV from coming back. You can find it here: bppvcured.com I wish you the best in recovering!
I have the same problem like you and I just turned 59 this year. Went to ER last week and really did not help. I will try my best just to take care my own self. I wish and pray for you and me and the rest of us who has this BPPV will go away. 🙏🙏🙏.
@@wildwildwest1662 As you see , it has been over a year since I have had Bppv . Well , through much prayer, I am much better ! 😇 I have taught myself how to lay on my left side without my eyes going crazy 🤪! I haven't been to a Dr for Bppv since I was in the hospital. All and all the Bppv is not as bad as it was . I have to watch when I look up to long , or bend down to long because that makes me dizzy 😵. Also if I stand up to fast and try to walk . But like I said , I am much better ! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 I pray that you will get better . Take one day at a time trying something that will ease or take away your Bppv . God did it for me and HE can do it for you . 😇🙏
My husband has vertigo really bad. He didn't start having it until he started having hearing loss. He is a veteran. That's one of the reasons why he has lost some of his hearing. He also is in his 60's now. He also has had accidents...hitting his head while working. I never knew about that until now. I'll tell him about this and share this video with him. It's scary when he has a vertigo attack. It happens so fast. He starts getting dizzy and then he starts throwing up. I have had to go get him several times because he could not drive from being so dizzy and sick to his stomach. I'm scared he's gonna keep on an get into an accident. He takes medication for it now. I don't know the name of the medications, but one of them is for nausea. Thanks for sharing your video.
Hope your husband gets some relief! If the vertigo is from BPPV he can get relief by doing the half somersault maneuver: th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.html
I had a severe vertigo attack in July 2019. I was rolling paint on my wall and it hit out of nowhere. (Visual trigger?) Had covid in July 2020. And a mild vertigo attack as soon as I started feeling better from covid. Since then I have had chronic non spinning vertigo. Thinking PPPD. Have you heard of that?
Hello Doctor, thank you the clear explanation. I experience these episodes and what I have noticed is that my ear gets very warm and turns a shade darker in between the episode. Is that something you can shed light on?
That’s not something I’ve seen before with BPPV. In doing a little research there is a case where an ear turning red was caused by vestibular migraine which is a different type of vertigo disorder.
You probably had some loose particles in the inner ear, when you tilt your head back they can then enter your inner ear canal and trigger vertigo attacks. The half somersault maneuver is very effective for this. I heard Top Gun is a great movie!
dude im getting this all the time everytime i move around or turn a corner or go up and down. its so weird. it feels good somehow but i dont wanna fall
I wish some1 wud answer ths question..i cant do epley i get seizures from the phobia i have an autoimmune disease how can we learn to adjust without epley any advice
I had this for the first time on Monday 10 January 2022, I woke up with the room spinning fast plus I could not balance and had to hold on to things to get to the bathroom. I thought I would going to die. I had increased bowel movements. I had water, threw it all up, went to A&E was given injection of Stemetil (apparently). things eased and I was sent home with Stemetil 5mg to take 3 times a day. But next day Tuesday woke up head feeling heavy and same imbalance problems. rested all day. Wednesday, felt much better. then Thursday for some reason vertigo returned. horribly feeling, would not wish it on anyone. Yesteray Friday woke up again with heavy, swinging head, rested all day and could only get up and do things by the evening. Apparently I had overdosed on Stemetil. Anyways my children found that ginger tea helps as well as D3 K2 vitamins. Today Saturday sixth day, I am a lot better though still feel the odd head swing now and again. Apparently caffeine can trigger vertigo episodes. Avoid citrus foods and fried foods. The head exercises eg Epilev manoeuvre I found uncomfortable to do. Hope this helps some people. I am in my late sixtiies by the way.
@@geminirising1 the doctor I saw in hospital said they thought it was indeed Bppv, and prescribed estobular inhibitors which helped. However, another doctor later on said they thought it was Labyrinthitis and I suspect that was correct because it hasn't come back (fingers crossed).
I have had this on and off for about 20years plus.. I always get nausea tablets from the doctor. Recently I started doing Epley maneuver and it's help so much.. but I do suffer from this constantly, if I have a cold, have a sore ear or even if I get stressed out my back of my neck goes sore and I know I'm going to get dizzy spells soon after it.. I must get vertigo at least 10 times a year.. Most days if I look up very quickly, I go dizzy... If I roll over to my left side in bed, my left side of my head.. I just go into a spin . So the Epley maneuver has came a big part of my life
So sorry to hear you suffer so much with this! There is a maneuver that works better than the Epley for many people. I did a video on it: th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.html. I had my first attack a few days ago..tried your manoeuvres and it worked, but have to keep doing it every morning I woke up..but not as bad as first time..
My doc told me to do it several times a day. It was so bad the first few times, but I found the more I did them, they got easier to get through. I was just prepared with a bucket and cold cloth close at hand in the beginning. I honestly thought it would never stop and I felt so alone because no one had experienced it. It felt good to find a community and feel supported through it.
The MAIN CAUSE of my Vertigo is my ( AIRPODS / headphones) i never realized . 1 year am suffering from this i took several medications and excercise and it worked i got well . but then i again start using my (Airpods direct after charging them ) and a few days after i again suffering from Bppv . for some people like me this could be because of some sort of ear infection and airpods and headphones triggers that .
how can i make an appointment so you can treat me for it. cause im spending money on seen a counselor a psychic for the dizziness. my doctor is not helping
My attacks only happen years apart. I had one minor attack a few days ago, the first in 4 years. I cannot predict when it might happen. Once it happened while I was brushing my teeth before bed..I could not go to work the next day because of the severity that can cause vomiting. It's like a curse because I'm concerned it may happen when I need to be somewhere, like an airport for overseas travel or the like.
It's the wheat that caused me all sorts of headaches, migraines with aura and brain fog. Also muscle and joint pain and low energy. Remove all grains from your diet for at least two weeks and see if you'll notice any change. I did.
Wheat is a problem for a lot of people in the U.S. tends to not be as much of an issue for people eating wheat in other countries. It’s definitely worth eliminating to see if it helps
You’re free to believe whatever you like but Wheat in the U.S. has been hybridized and modified to the point that it is no longer the same as what our ancestors ate. It is also heavily sprayed with glyphosate. Many European and other countries do not allow the same modifications and chemical treatment as the US. These changes are not without consequences. This is why many people will feel better when eating the food in Europe vs the food here. We have the most chronic illness in the developed world and one of the first places we should be looking for answers is our food. I’ve seen it first hand in my patients and my family.
@@leevweleevwe4813 Wheat now compared to what it used to be has 3 more times the gluten than it originally had and should. That is why people are getting sick. And the glyphosate added to the mix of course.
Hi this is what I worry about going up the hospital waiting for hours and coming out with the wrong diagnosis that woukd really annoy me plus my husband hated docs and hospitals but I have go some ideas now what to do thank u
I haven’t had a BPPV attack in two years since taking vitamin D3, K2, and Magnesium (citrate or glycinate or malate or threonate only, no oxide) supplements along with eating more plain Greek low-fat yogurt
When I got Covid I got very bad vertigo. At first it was both sides of my head. It happened a lot, enough to affect my job. Three Months later, it was just my left side. 5 months later, it rarely happens.
I am 34, had a TBI from a motorcycle accident Oct 12, 2024. Had a TBI from an IED March 10, 2010. Never had a problem. Used a foam roller, instant vertigo lastimg for two months. Can a Foam roller cause BPPV?
Dang you’ve been through a lot! With the foam roller it was probably the position. Laying in your back with your head tilted back creates a situation where any loose inner ear particles fall into the canal where they cause BPPV. It was probably something else that caused the particles to come loose then the position you were in on the foam roller moved them to a place where they trigger the vertigo. Hope you’re doing better now.
I was diagnosed with BPPV one week before and my doctor gave me a med to use it for 6 days and i will go to her again for further check,is there a permanent treatment for this condition? Bcz it really makes life miserable , and it is affecting my daily work and feeling fatigue most of the time
Maybe a stupid question but i saw the crystals are calcium carbonate which is a common heartburn treatment right? Ive been taking a lot of tums and recently started experiencing this. Not saying it was the tums but it's got me thinking what if my body has trouble processing calcium or something
I've been doing this for a month and it triggers super bad anxiety. Feels like I'm gonna die. I keep getting tested at the emergency room. Every test you can think of then they send me home ! I can't even raise my head up , I can't even cook . I'm age 64 and my kids are taking care of me. I'm scared .
Anxiety disorder I have it also. This causes it worse. I have polyps in my nose and pressure in my ears a bit. Ya it makes me more nervous and take more Xanax. I play drums with ear phones playing music in my ears to YT music, I'm wondering if I did something, it's not my meds I been on them for 30 years
Vitamin D helps regulate inflammation and calcium balance, it’s also a hormone involved in many functions in the body. Taking it in the moment won’t necessarily stop a vertigo attack but taking it consistently over time which raises your blood levels of vitamin D will help reduce episodes.
could you kindly tell what kind of dizziness will indicate a stroke ,please I want to know answer for this ,I asked about this in several videos but there is no reply, could you kindly help me with this 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏please
It’s December and viral infections really throw me off, but I went to the Dr and they told me I had vertigo. The vertigo is so strong it doesn’t let me sleep. But I’ll take a look on how to make it better.
You can do the same maneuver standing or sitting as long as you get your head in the same position. I don’t have videos on TH-cam for those but I do in my BPPV program: bppvcured.com
I just went to the dentist e week ago and pulled out my molar after 2 days my vertigo was triggered and on my 2nd week of attack.. Went to ENT and did epley maneuver and instant relief but still imbalance these days.
Could wearing earplugs contribute to it? I woke up this morning with terrible BPPV. I wear earplugs to bed every night. Didn't know it that could affect the ear pressures causing movement of the crystals.
I think so, I was fine and now I’m experiencing dizziness but I just realized I’ve been using my AirPods to word on my 1 hour break so I’m assuming this it was triggered it, how are you doing now did it get better?
Hi doctor. I had severe vertigo all the day but doctor said it’s the right ear but do not take any medicines for it. Only cerc 8mg. But i had allergic asthma in the past a year ago may be. So can i take? I did some exercises feeling better today but it’s still there. It triggered my anxiety for sure.
I had vertigo before daily for many years then it stopped which was good. But now I have developed severe vertigo when I woke up from sleep laying on my side. My vision was spinning. I still have this severe vertigo and hasn’t gone away. Is this BPVV and is it seasonal? If so how can I stop it from happening I am sick of it and this time round is very severe where it impacts my life.
I had very severe vertigo about a year and a half ago. I feel somewhat dizzy, tired, brain fog, headaches since then. Diagnosed with vestibular migraines. I'm not sure I believe that. I'm dizzy constantly. Can't lay in my bed for over a year. Ringing in ears. Many doctors and treatments. Seems nothing helps.
I have been prescribed I mean, diagnosed with vestibular migraines too and at first, I doubt it it. Because although I did get migraines, I never felt dizzy at the same time or near the time of the migraine before or after, and my dizziness only came from head movements.
I have Ben getting dizzy spells almost yearly ( always in March or so) for about the past ten years where I get dizzy in the middle of the night. All of the causes could apply, but it’s weird how it seasonal. I take an allergy pill. It helps, but seems to be getting worse. Meaning by morning I am still dizzy, and can last most of the day. BTW… is that picture of Lake Tahoe in the background ?
That’s interesting how you experience it seasonally. If it’s BPPV I recommend the half somersault maneuver: th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared Yes, that is a picture of Lake Tahoe! It’s one of my places to go 😀. Do you go to Tahoe too or live close by?
bought a vibration plate in November and used everyday. Then the vertigo driving over 40 mph started last month...Can a vibration plate loosen the crystals?
I took pain killer tablets ( diclofenac sodium) continuously for 10 days on doctor's advice...! Now on the 12 th day I am getting this vertigo problem...? Can we attribute this taking of Pain killer tablets for my vertigo problem...? Could you please give me some clarity...?
Yes! It is definitely possible. Dizziness is listed as a common side effect of diclofinac. The dizziness it causes may or may not be BPPV, but it’s a definite possibility.
I think this is definitely coming from my left ear. Day 15, the actual spinning sensation stopped after 2 days and was intermittent. When I move my head now, I still get dizzy.
Was the spinning constant for 2 days? Sounds like its gradually improving? Sounds more like vestibular neuritis if that's the case, but not the only possibility. I think you said you were getting in to an ENT in an earlier comment, hopefully you can soon!
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy Many thanks for responding. No the actual spinning was in very short bursts over the course of 2-3 days, mainly turning in bed. Yesterday I felt pretty normal, I thought it'd gone, I was ecstatic. I woke up this morning and the swimmy head was back, now I'm down again. Is vestibular neuritis positional?
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy ps I was referred to ENT 11 months ago for sinus issues, still waiting for appt . . now this. :( Thanks for remembering that part.
No, vestibular neuritis isn’t positional but it is most intense in the first day or two. If yours is positional and coming in short bursts it’s much more likely to be BPPV.
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy You are so kind for responding again. My vertigo and subsequent dizziness, lightheadedness is definitely positional. I'm a 59 yr old female and only ever had this twice in my life, first time was last year. It's horrible. Thank You again ⭐️
Is it possible for it to reoccur in a young and healthy person? I had this when I was 25 and cleared after just a few days and there's no reoccurance until now (I'm almost 30) but I'm worried that it might reoccur some time in the future
Yes it’s possible, but it is less common at your age. Low vitamin D levels have been shown to increase risk of BPPV coming back, so supplementing Vitamin D3 (with K2) is a good idea especially if you’re low and can’t get it from the sun. Also remember the half somersault maneuver if it ever comes back. It’s the quickest and easiest way IMO to treat it on your own.
I have been suffering from vertigo for 1 month due to boxing, i was having sparring sessions and after taking few hits something felt off, i stoped immedietly and my head was feeling off for about an hour, then i was perfectly fine, 2 days later out of nowhere my head started spinning and i was losing my shit with what was actually gonna happen to me, and i went to doctors and all and they said im having a concussion and all i needa do is rest etc, so i was having symptoms like, sensitivity to light and sound, motions, disturbances sleeping and 24/7 dizzyness, it was hell, now im slowly getting better but the vertigo is just non stop altho it has reduced largerly compared to the first 2 weeks, but its still present and i cant evn go about my day to day things like running errands, working and any sudden movements, every movement i make has to be done slow or my dizzyness gets worst
I’ve been struggling for so many months - I have it almost every day. I don’t get it. I have tried the movements and it helps for a few hours maybe a day and then it’s back- it’s very stressful not being able to function as well as I use to and scared if it’ll come back at the wrong time
Yes! Vertigo is a potential side effect, especially when starting a new birth control medication. Some specialists have noticed younger women getting BPPV and other types of vertigo and the common theme seems to be birth control meds. I haven't seen any studies on it though.
It can be episodic. Doing the half somersault maneuver will clear the crystal from the inner ear and relieve the symptoms but it is possible for another inner crystal to break free and cause symptoms to return. It’s definitely tiring and annoying but at least there is an effective way to manage it.
I’m a 43yo female who is experiencing this BPPV symptoms for about 10 days.
Normally I live a healthy life style, workout regularly no health issues and When I had the first spinning I thought I have brain tumour or something….:)
Thank’s God today I found out the name of these symptoms…
My symptoms are brief episodes of dizziness with moving the head, often when rolling over in bed or getting up in the morning, also feel nauseous between episodes of vertigo. Somedays are stronger someday very light … I did some of the movements but didn’t help much …, maybe I don’t do them correctly…
I’ll try more tomorrow…
Thank you doctor for taking your time and explaining it to ppl as me …., this way I won’t spend 5hours in the ER and to be sent home with a wrong diagnoses
Thank you 🙏
I’m so glad the video helped! It’s definitely scary when something like that is going on and you don’t know what it is!
Best luck to you. I get weird in my head at times to I’m a senior citizen I hear they get that problem when getting older. 🙏🏼
Go to a vestibular therapist
Yeah it does. I got bppv. I can’t wash dishes or cook. I got a dishwasher and when I cook and get dizzy or lightheaded I just go lay down. It sucks.

I've had these episodes while I lay sleeping and I so much just turned to my right side and I start spinning now it makes sense
Thank you
You're welcome!
I have had vertigo and it's horrible ❗
Your crystals are probably dislodged in your right ear, sometimes laying on your left ear lot can even reset them, but of course you can do the Epley maneuver, especially if the crystals are posterior.
Can BPPV be caused by flying. Sometimes the pressurization/depressurization of the cabin will pop my ears.
Thanks for sharing! So many people are walking around dehydrated. Proper hydration helps with so many areas of health including BPPV.
But adding salt to water is good for hydration isn't it???
@@user-rm4ye7fp5d think you are thinking of saline water which consists of some sugar along with salt but I read you can't have too much of it
White processed table salt can cause problems but not pink salt or Celtic salt which have their trace minerals still.
Glad your hair grew back and you've been getting relief from the half somersault maneuver! You've been through a lot!
It’s less frequent as you age
Super helpful. I got vertigo two months ago and until now was never able to attribute to really anything (neither did any of the doctors during my hospital stay) I am an older female with diabetes, like I said...super helpful...THANK YOU!

Was diagnosed with severe vertigo after viral infection. Got so bad some days I could not get out of bed. Sought physical therapy and I can finally have more good days then bad.
Me too
I recently realized I have an alcohol problem- I get vertigo really bad for a day or two after heavily drinking.
Hope you're doing better my friend.
Glad you got to the root problem!
I get iron infusions and recurrent bpv 😞
So low iron levels can trigger bppv?

Sorry to hear you’ve been through so much with this but thank goodness for people like nurse Penny!

@@StronglifePhysiotherapy Very informative. Ive read that being bed bound can be a cause for BPPV. Is this true, and what byproduct of being bed bound is it that causes it? Brilliant!!! I've just been diagnosed with BPPV and this has helped a lot!! Thank you!!

Wow this sounds like what i experienced yesterday. I was worried I was having a stroke too. Now I feel a little at ease from your post. Thx
Ive had some type of virus for the past 10 days and had my first vertigo episode yesterday. Thank you for confirming that the virus is probably the cause.

Really well explained,
I have just ecperienced 4 dayes of disyness and went to my doktor, where i got shown a TH-cam video with exercises that could remove the disiness, and it worked great.
I am back to normal.

Developed recently, the weeks following Covid.
They gave me a steroid & antivert. 3rd day on meds. Eased slightly so far. Workplace is already warning they need to replace me.
Hi sister I also have uti how’s your health now may be due to pills im getting this vertigo out of nowhere. Or may be inner ear is the real cause as doctors told me.
You have explained so well! Thank you for helping us all.👍🙏🏼🤗
Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful!
How u feeling now? Did u do the excises? Take any medication?
@Tad-For-Global-Peace I'm dealing with this now. Had a dizzy episode last week and still feeling dizzy and unbalanced

Same got bppv from a severe inner ear infection and cant do epley i get seizures from phobia..will it go away can we adjust without doing epley
I had to do the Epley again recently at home. I asked my sig other to stand at my head. He had never seen my eyes jumping around. Thank goodness he was there. I got dizzy so bad that I yelled, he grabbed my hand and then I felt safe.

The Epley positioning helps ALOT!!!
Yes it does! I prefer the half somersault maneuver but both are great.

So sorry to hear you are suffering so much with this! There is a maneuver you can do yourself that works better than the Epley maneuver for many people with BPPV. I made a video about it here: th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.html
I also created a program than teaches you how to do the maneuver, what to do if the vertigo gets worse or the maneuver doesn't work, and how to keep BPPV from coming back. You can find it here: bppvcured.com
I wish you the best in recovering!

I pray that you will get better .
Take one day at a time trying something that will ease or take away your Bppv .
God did it for me and HE can do it for you .

I had a severe vertigo attack in July 2019. I was rolling paint on my wall and it hit out of nowhere. (Visual trigger?)
Had covid in July 2020. And a mild vertigo attack as soon as I started feeling better from covid. Since then I have had chronic non spinning vertigo. Thinking PPPD. Have you heard of that?
Do you suggest a PT to do the maneuver exercise? Or is it safe to do on yourself?
I get vertigo when I'm up a certain height.. what type is this
Do you mean standing up or at a certain altitude? If it’s altitude it’s more of a blood oxygenation issue
Is this the same as having dizziness/light head when getting up from a sitting position?
I just watched Top Gun on IMAX close to screen. After that I got super dizziness then got this as per the doctor.
What causes the crystals to form in the first place? How do we eliminate them?

I had this yesterday. I though I was going to die. Everytime I suddenly turn my head my head become heavy and I see everything spinning.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Wish you the best!
It is vile. Just had it yesterday. Diagnosed in hospital (I was barely conscious when I went in). Still feeling very wobbly today.
@@stuffandnonsense8528 What did the doctor say?
@@geminirising1 the doctor I saw in hospital said they thought it was indeed Bppv, and prescribed estobular inhibitors which helped.
However, another doctor later on said they thought it was Labyrinthitis and I suspect that was correct because it hasn't come back (fingers crossed).
Hello there😊my husband can not bend his left knee. How should he do your exercise?
I also created a program to help people learn how to keep their BPPV from coming back. It's available here: bppvcured.com
I wish you the best!
I had my first attack a few days ago..tried your manoeuvres and it worked, but have to keep doing it every morning I woke up..but not as bad as first time..
I only did it once. 😩 so you did it every morning? How long?
@@geminirising1 one week
@@Dragonwolf77 my goodness.. no wonder I’m still f’d up. 😩
I have had BPPV FOR 40 years.
Thanks for sharing ! It is what I had and was in ER for 3,4 times !!!!! My first one was when I only 38 !!!! We had to call 911 !!!!!
You’re welcome! It can be very scary. Hope you’re doing better now!
how can i make an appointment so you can treat me for it. cause im spending money on seen a counselor a psychic for the dizziness. my doctor is not helping
Very informative Dr
Thanks a lot
You’re welcome!
That’s none sense
Glad it was helpful, wish you the best!
I haven’t had a BPPV attack in two years since taking vitamin D3, K2, and Magnesium (citrate or glycinate or malate or threonate only, no oxide) supplements along with eating more plain Greek low-fat yogurt
That's awesome, thanks for sharing!
@StronglifePhysiotherapy Thank you very much for your reply. I'll try to avoid the roller for a while until I can do it without issue. Take care.
Hey am 16 and I am experience dizziness it comes and go but now am drinking more water and working out
I was diagnosed with BPPV one week before and my doctor gave me a med to use it for 6 days and i will go to her again for further check,is there a permanent treatment for this condition? Bcz it really makes life miserable , and it is affecting my daily work and feeling fatigue most of the time
Thank you Doctor. Well explained !!!
Glad it was helpful!
Maybe a stupid question but i saw the crystals are calcium carbonate which is a common heartburn treatment right? Ive been taking a lot of tums and recently started experiencing this. Not saying it was the tums but it's got me thinking what if my body has trouble processing calcium or something
I haven’t heard a direct link between tums and BPPV but it’s possible that taking a lot affects your blood chemistry enough to create higher risk
Hi, I suffered from BPPV I went to Drs. but who treated my problem was the physiotherapist I have no more symptoms of BPPV!🙏
I play drums with ear phones playing music in my ears to YT music, I'm wondering if I did something, it's not my meds I been on them for 30 years
Careful with too much alcohol, caffeine, and heavy salty meals that can affect the fluid in the ear too………..check vit d and calcium levels.
You bring up some great points! I personally recommend zero alcohol and caffeine and keep salt in a moderate range. Vit D is a big one too!
I know this is why it happens to me.
@@joshstewart1649 what’s your story bud
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy why Vitamin D? I was having a bad spell last night and read it would help Vertigo but my spell lasted 12 hours.
I have this problem it's mostly minimal but twice it hit me hard.
It’s December and viral infections really throw me off, but I went to the Dr and they told me I had vertigo. The vertigo is so strong it doesn’t let me sleep. But I’ll take a look on how to make it better.
If it's BPPV, the half somersault maneuver is extremely effective and pretty simple to do on your own:
th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.html
@StronglifePhysiotherapy not if you're old and you have trouble getting up off the floor!
I’m glad the Epley helped!
Jai. Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome!
By the way I use AirPods for about an hr or so before i sleep too so I’m asuming maybe yes
When I'm sick because of my sinuses, my head can get so packed that it will cause vertigo. It actually makes me throw up
Will it do me any harm having my ears syringed feeling like this
I had very severe vertigo about a year and a half ago.
Have you checked PPPD
@kaustavhalder yes. Actually I was diagnosed with that too. I feel like nobody can give me any real answers. It's exhausting.
Ganz prima. Ich hatte genau das....herzlichen dank.....aber halo....now. I know....
👍🏻
Wow thanks just had dental work 😮
May i ask does dental work cause dizziness? Like tooth filling or tooth extraction
Mine was caused by spinning fast, it was a new movement I was learning in dance class
That can definitely cause it! Hope you’re doing better now!
cn ths Cristal themself nt dessolve,as I am also suffering from bppv frm last 8 years.
If it’s BPPV I recommend the half somersault maneuver: th-cam.com/video/wv66YvIyDy0/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Yes, that is a picture of Lake Tahoe! It’s one of my places to go 😀. Do you go to Tahoe too or live close by?
bought a vibration plate in November and used everyday. Then the vertigo driving over 40 mph started last month...Can a vibration plate loosen the crystals?
GREAT STUFF THANK YOU
I took pain killer tablets ( diclofenac sodium) continuously for 10 days on doctor's advice...!
@@StronglifePhysiotherapy Thank you for your reciprocation...
Oh so it IS the ear infection I had. I thought so. It was so extreme at the time and I had never experienced that.
I hope you’re doing better now!
I am! Thank you. I'm surprised it actually worked. I haven't had any issues since I did the maneuver.
@justaYNfromacrosstheglobe it’s nice when something actually does what it’s supposed to right?
Va rog , se poate traducere in limba română?multumesc!
What about a Vitamin D deficiency?
Yes that can be a factor! Vitamin D supplementation has also been shown to decrease the risk of recurrence
I’ve been struggling for so many months - I have it almost every day. I don’t get it. I have tried the movements and it helps for a few hours maybe a day and then it’s back- it’s very stressful not being able to function as well as I use to and scared if it’ll come back at the wrong time
Does hormone change or birth control
Contribute to it?
Yes! Vertigo is a potential side effect, especially when starting a new birth control medication. Some specialists have noticed younger women getting BPPV and other types of vertigo and the common theme seems to be birth control meds. I haven't seen any studies on it though.
Several years ago, there were several menopausal women in our office who were all experiencing vertigo. Read that it can be a "symptom" of menopause.
Dr, is this disease chronic because I had it two years ago and now it has come back again? It is a very tiring and annoying disease
It can be episodic. Doing the half somersault maneuver will clear the crystal from the inner ear and relieve the symptoms but it is possible for another inner crystal to break free and cause symptoms to return. It’s definitely tiring and annoying but at least there is an effective way to manage it.
I just been diagnosed with this condition x
Sorry to hear. Hope you get relief! Check out my BPPV vertigo video for relief or go to bppvcured.com if you need more help!
I hope by now you have stopped the dizziness, hope the epley manoeuvres worked for you.
I am 32 and Already having this and really worried about the rest of my life. If any!
Do earphones or headphones trigger bppv??can you please answer me?
Vibration can cause crystals to come loose and trigger BPPV, so it would have to be pretty loud.
i actually got this while i was driving
Omg please tell me how u handle that ...I have had it twice
