I had my first advanced lesson on Saturday. The observer was very impressed, reckons I will only need two or three before I am ready of the test. Thanks for the great content!
Just passed my ROSPA advanced driver test today and achieved a gold. Have to say that while my driving instructor was great, I got so much additional information from watching all the tutorials. Thanks Reg.
Well done - a gold is an excellent result!
Some of this advice is no more than common sense, yet it takes a real skill to impart that sense into drivers' heads in order for them to use it productively. Another great piece of tuition.

Wonderful stuff once again Reg, loads of great ideas. The tip about coming off the brakes smoothly (which I know you've also covered in other videos) is one I've found particularly useful. In order to give yourself time to do that you have to look further ahead and plan better. Hopefully I'm doing a reasonable job of that now more often than not. You never stop learning! Thanks again.

I love the flow you achieve ... one of the things my observer complains about is that as I exit a corner and pick up speed as the limit point zips away ... only to then spot that there's another tight corner coming up in the distance that I will need to again loose speed for. I need to learn to plan better, applying an appropriate amount of acceleration that I can smoothly and subtly loose again before the next hazard. So much to learn!!
That Reg is how you should be taught to drive smooth, relaxed and flowing from bend to bend. It's the quickest and most economical way from A to B and your passengers will only know what speed they are actually going by looking at the speedo. Sadly I don't think the IAM observer that took me out had read that page because driving by his system I was less smooth and my fuel consumption was 3mpg worse at the end of the lesson
I feel like I do all of these things and can sense people not exactly enjoying my driving as passengers. I am not sure if I'm overestimating my smoothness but when I do have to brake or steer (eg other direction vehicle straddling the middle of a narrow road coming towards me) the passengers act like its me at fault?

Hi Mike, yes - this series will end in early April & I’m starting to film some footage for the next series at the moment - “How to Pass an Advanced Bike Test”. Should be starting to roll the new series out from around the first or second week in April.

Hi Reg. my wife had a BMW with rev matching. I had to consciously do poor gear changes to let the car do its thing, otherwise I felt like it was fighting against me. Have you found that?
No. Just leave the accelerator alone & change gear as normal.
