You can buy the E4 and have the hardware unlocked to the same specs as the E8. I imagine you can upgrade your E5 to the E8 also. Flir was pretty dirty in using the same hardware, but different firmware. I bought a new modified E4 on Ebay for a little less than $1,200 with a couple extra accessories, and it has the same specs as the $3,000 E8.
i bought a brand new flir e5 on ebay for £900 british pounds and had it upgraded to the e8 for $150 dollars wow what a difference it makes so much more setting to choose from
