- This video explains how to find reagents for the preparation of 1-propoxypropane using Williamson synthesis.
Williamson synthesis reaction undergoes SN2 nucleophilic substitution reaction.
The general mechanism is
RX + R'ONa = ROR' + NaX
R'ONa is a nucleophilic reagent which produces alkoxide ion as a nucleophile
Nucleophiles are electron seeking species which attacks electrophiles and produce the product
Since, this reaction is proceed through SN2, primary halide gives expected product.
Propyl halide and sodium-propoxide are the reagents for the preparation of 1-Propoxypropane.
