great video - going to do this for my daughters wedding in May this year. Love how quiet your plotter is! Thanks for running us thru the corel program to set up the name over the letter, then combining them! Fabulous video - very helpful! Thanks

hi I like your video and I want know If i can make piurcte with Small details like St.Mary or St.Georges picture in the cup and If you have video for that ??? thank you so much
Well it would be difficult to not only cut tiny details and put it on the glass, but also you could only put it in one color. What software are you using? - TRW Richard
I just get the Graphtec Vinyl Cutters I buy it form amazon.com and I have the software with the cutters. can you tell me what your software you using and how much ??
The software that we use is CorelDraw, the TRW Design Wizard, and Cutting master 3 for Graphtec. The software package will range from $689.99-769.99 depending on the version of Corel that you purchase. CorelDraw X6 + TRW Design Wizard :therhinestoneworld.com/store/#!/CorelDRAW-Graphics-Suite-X6-Retail-and-Official-Guidebook-with-TRW-Design-Wizard™-3-0/p/62177018/category=8403301 CorelDraw X8 + TRW Design Wizard :therhinestoneworld.com/store/#!/CorelDRAW-Graphics-Suite-X8-OEM-with-TRW-Design-Wizard™-Ver-3-0/p/66990602/category=8403301 Even with that package of software any design that is intricate and under 5" will be difficult to cut. Oh man.. I am obsessed with how vinyl looks on its own but this is a jaw dropper! I love everything about it! I am pretty new to trying anything vinyl related and you have added another amazing project to my list. Thank you so much for sharing :) I am excited to try it! I do have a question for you though. Can you only use sign vinyl for this?
Hey Christina! You can use anything that will stick to the glass that is thick enough that the etching cream will not go through. We've noticed that FDC vinyl is a better product for this, if that is anything! :) TRW Nick
Thank you for taking time to answer me :) I am excited to try it! Is there a specific amount of time that the etching cream has to be on the glass before washing it and taking off the stencil?
hello there.. great video. have done a few glasses but only one came out perfect. The rest I am having "bleeding" issues. i guess its because of the bubbles around the design area, however, when i apply the cream there doesnt seem to be any bubble. What am i doing wrong? any tips please?
Jahivan, Make sure when putting the cream on that you're not putting it on super thick around the edges and that the edges of your design where the cream will be near are really smoothed out and stuck to the glass super well so you don't see any bleeding issues like that! TRW Alexis
Great video. I would like my company logo. Can you make a custom stencils for me to use to etch onto my wine glasses? I have never etched before but would like to after you r simple video but would need custom stencils?

The glass curves and you can see the that the monogram/name are not straight with the top edge of the glass - how would you compensate for the curvature?
+Mike Gross Hello Mike, the easiest way to compensate is to line up the decal with your edges and then start working from the inside out. It is ok if there is some bubbles, just make sure the bubbles are not near the letters. TRW Erika
+TheRhinestoneWorld Thanks for the reply but I'm not sure you hit the mark. Simple and small stencils can be made to lay flat 'enough' for etching, but on a pilsner or stemmed glass that has a compound curve you are continuously fighting the surrounding vinyl both vertically and horizontally. You video shows that perfectly starting at 10:44 (and specifically at 10:56) with the fact that the name drops form the lip of the glass as it follows the curve around the left. Using the clear contact film as you have just provides another layer of resistance that won't allow you to maintain an even line with the lip of the glass. That is what I'm asking - specifically, what is the trick to getting your image to follow the LIP of the glass rather than the curvature? We've tried something very similar (similar stencil graphic and maybe even the same glass) about 10 times trying different 'cut-in' techniques to allow for the curvature, but nothing really works. Appreciate your videos and assistance, and this is the ONLY hurdle we have left to very happy with our results.
+Mike Gross Hello Mike, I see what you're saying. I consulted with a co-worker that has worked with glass etching and she recommended that you either place it starting in the center and work your way out, or you have to curve the whole design in the software first. The best way to do glass etching is to stick to more taller designs than wide. Let us know how this works. TRW Erika
+TheRhinestoneWorld Yep, tried that method a number of times and it just doesn't work on wide stencils (on curves). Thanks for trying to help me out. :-) Tall thin stencils work well, and I've just come across the 'pre-bend method' as well, but it still won't work to compensate for the extra stencil material binding. It WOULD work for non-stencil applications to compensate for the curves and I'm working on that this weekend on another project.
+Mike Gross Hello, I'm sorry it wasn't a complete fix. Please let us know how the non-stencil applications work out. We would love to see your finished products. Let us know if we can help or try to help with anything else :). TRW Erika

Etching just erodes the glass, giving it that cloudy white color you see on the glass. We haven't tried it, but I have heard others say that you can watercolor paint overtop of it to give it a splash of color. I recommend looking into that! 😊 - TRW Haley

Hi. Loved this video. Will these glasses withstand the dishwasher after they are etched?
Mary,
They should do fine! For handmade projects we do usually recommend handwashing, though. :)
TRW Alexis
Etching is permanently changing the glass so washing will have zero effect on it.
What range of a price would you sell the wine glass with the Etching graphic?

Julie Atkinson........use Etchall instead of Armour Etch. Works so much better!

Is the sign vinyl the outdoor permanent? Can I use my oracle 651 vinyl?
You can use 651 or even 631. The important thing is to be sure your edges are pressed very well. You don't want etch to sneak under any edges and ruin/blur your design. -TRW Crystal
What color sign vinyl did you use? Does it matter, or does the etching cream really make that color?
+Nicole Roberts It doesn't matter what color you use because you are pulling it off anyway, you are just using it for a stencil. :)

Renee Snook. I was asking about the application tape not the vinyl. Does it come in smaller rolls than 12"x 100yd?
TheRhinestoneWorld ...I was asking about the application tape (not the FDC vinyl). Does the take come in anything smaller that 12"x100yd?
Wow, I am very sorry. It must've been a little early. ^_^
The application tape rolls do only come in 100 yards from the manufacturer, so that is unfortunately the smallest size that we would be able to sell.
TRW Nick
TheRhinestoneWorld . The tape roll in Lisa's wine glass video looked smaller. Was she using something else?
