I'm slightly concerned that a bunch of the Mythical writers actually have profile pictures of themselves holding fish and think it's a good dating app picture. I can't imagine any other reason why that wouldn't have been an option.

The thing about the photo with too many people in it is, some people literally only use group pictures for their profile photos. If you can’t tell who the person is, most people swipe left.

Also, people can like content creators and not want to date them. I think the implied "you're going to have to take photos of me constantly in public" is part of why it's such a turn of in the context of online dating.
one of the biggest red flags in online dating for me are the people who are "digital nomads," or "digitally traveling" and change their set locations to US cities. The second I see it or something along those lines, I move on. Like, cool you're in the philippines or brazil or wherever . . . please don't pretend to live in SF if you aren't actually here.

Tell me about it. Every time I see an Asian woman on Facebook Dating... there are pictures of ski slopes, expensive dinners, maybe a shot of a hotel balcony, and I'm thinking "exactly how many of these are found in my state?" (None is the answer). And she will sometimes have her face obscured or turned from the camera, too. It's like a profile made up entirely of red flags.

i think the issue with seeing 'influencer/content creator' isnt that people wouldn't date them, but there's so many people who quit their job or put it all on the line to be creators and have like 2 followers and will put it on their profile as their end all be all (or for clout lmao so people look them up before swiping)

I am going to say this, the reason why influencer / content creator was chosen, is because they consider 100 views on a video on tik tok a content creator.. I know of a lot of people who claim to be youtubers or streamers or content creators and they have 100 followers.. Either that, or they could consider content creator as something like OnlyFans.

This was an interesting episode for me. I have been debating to try a dating app but I don't know which one to try, I'm worried about fake profiles and bots, people who are just looking for one time flings, etc. It's anxiety inducing to think on.
With the little experience I have with dating apps, group photos have always been a miss for me cuz like Rhett mentioned there has been that one friend in the pic who I find more attractive than the actual person who’s profile I’m look at. Or when they have a group picture and the next pics are blurry or silhouette of the person so I don’t even know the who the profile belongs too.

The reason I voted for influencer/content creator is because I live in northern Illinois, no one here is making a living as a content creator. 😂 Unless you live in LA, that’s a red flag for sure.

A woman I worked with in a project always sent me emails with ALL CAPS and one day I told her that it is no reason to scream. But then she explained that on some days she just doesn’t see anything on the computer unless she uses all caps. So actually, there is a reason for this. Maybe the person on Tinder just wanted to make sure that she doesn’t have to use Emojis only or end up with a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes when she set up her profile on a day with bad vision. ;)

Pictures are worth a thousand words. A filtered profile picture presents a fake "you". Also, many people on dating sites say they're not good at writing about themselves, so emojis are an alternative form of communication.
