I don't why, but whenever I listen this song I always imagine the girls as jazz singers standing on the stage in red dresses and dim lights, and behind them there are these amazing afro-amercan musicians playing the instruments while the audince is relaxed and enjoying the performance. This totally gives me the chills. The combination of their vocals is amazing I'm in love with Bom's unique voice and this kind of music really suits her. Honestly, despite what you think about her singing techinques, you just can't deny the fact that her voice deliver the necessary emotions in a song. I mean just listen to It Hurts and If I Were You, her voice will hit you hard and I think that's why so many people love her and defend her. There are artists out there with amazing techinques but they can't convey their emotions properly (no, I'm not say that technique isn't important). The majorty of people, including me aren't vocal experts and when we listen to a song we relay a lot on how the singer is making us feel the song and the emotions, and not if he or she is hitting the right notes, and Bom is really good at this.
I feel like this is a YG version of Frozen. Bom and LeeHi are sisters in the MV, like Elsa and Anna. But this is no happy version of the song, it's got a dark, more solemn meaning. LeeHi has died a long time ago and Bom misses her, so she kills herself with pills. LeeHi the ghost is awakened when she sees this. They are reunited in their house as ghosts and do silly things like "cook" inedible objects and make snow sculptures. There is proof because the house is draped as if it were abandoned, and everyone is also wearing white. The end scenes where they are wearing flowers around their heads show that they are dead. So before any of you say "this is creepy i dont like it" or any other negative opinion, learn what the MV symbolizes first. YG music videos have the best symbolism.

After hearing this, a lot of people started bashing Bom saying that she couldn't sing and that she shouldn't be the main vocalist of 2NE1 and all that. And though she is my bias, I do have to admit that this song does not do any justice to her voice. It honestly doesn't fit her. BUT that doesn't mean that she can't sing. Because she can. If you go listen. To their new album "Crush" you will see just how talented Bom is and how powerful her voice is. She honestly killed it. My personally favorite song is "Gotta Be You" because her part makes the song complete. I am very proud to say that I am Park Bom biased. After reading all the comments I was expecting something horrible but this is actually super awesome! I don't know why there's people complaining, the arrangement sounds so soulful and amazing, their english was almost perfect too, I could understand the entire song without problems. It's been a while since I've listened to this song. And honestly. There is nothing wrong with Bom here. She sounds good. She doesn't sound terrible. She's one of those vocalist that will always have haters. But BlackJacks know her story and will always support her. And seeing the haters has been getting old. Because it's just like they NEVER have anything new to say. They've been saying the same things for about five years now. So it's obvious they really have no other reasons to hate on her. But hey. They're wasting their time for the past five years. Hahaha but bom is great. She does ad-libs for a reason. She sings the higher ranged parts for a reason. Like give it up already.
This Christmas season I had this on my playlist again... It's been a year since this came out (my comment from last year is still up there, lol). I actually like this song a lot. Very mellow, jazzy, sort of sad... A more mature and grown-up Christmas song that is different than the other religious and/or upbeat cheery songs out there... Sometimes you just feel this way. And this song captures it nicely. Listening/watching this again, I still love how they both sound here-- similar, deep, soulful vocal tones: Lee Hi and Park Bom... If you can get past the fact that Bom pronounces words her own way (both English AND Korean-- it's not book "correct"), then you realize that she's actually pretty damn good in this song and it makes me wish she did more bluesy/jazzy songs! Bom needs a solo album. Lee Hi needs a full solo album. They can do one as a unit, I don't care. I want to hear more of these two ladies. I love love their voices.

Her voice hasn't really changed but her actual technique is awful, so her voice is ruined after all these years using a bad technique so now she can barely sing using her regular voice. I love her voice but she should've had a good vocal teacher who taught her an actual good technique... Now it's too late and she ruined her voice. I guess it's partly YG's fault not giving her a vocal teacher, too bad because she's talented.

(2) Then we can see that Bom has joined Hi as a ghost in the beyond. This is symbolized by one stream of white ghost ectoplasm coming under the door being joined by a second stream. The ectoplasm appears again near the end. (3) The Burial/Grave Scene: The next scene shows Hi as the first character appearing in her grave in the "buried" pose (symbolized by greenery representing the ground around her). This indicates that she was the first sister who passed on (perhaps on a previous Christmas) and Hi's singing in this scene shows that her spirit is sadly wishing to see her beloved older sister again on Christmas. (4) Then we are shown the desperate and tragic thing that Bom did on her last day in the living/physical world in order to be together with Hi again on Christmas, because she so desperately missed her little sister. We see it suspended in the air and moving backward, as though time stopped and reversed a little at the moment that Bom passed on, since in the ghost realm time has no meaning. (10) If, like in the ghost movie "The Others", you realize that you are now seeing a haunted house from the point of view of the ghosts doing the haunting, the other weird things make sense too. For example, in the ghosts' dreamlike state in which they are celebrating Christmas together, they are simply dragging a bag of ice across the floor to make an ice sculpture with an axe. But if a living person were in the house during the haunting, they would just hear something being dragged across the floor and then something sounding like an axe wacking away at something -- and it would sound really spooky and mysterious to them. And then they would go tell ghost stories about what they heard in the "haunted house". (11) Finally, I think the empty frames at the end and the white liquid (ectoplasm) in the crystal cups, symbolize that they are only present in the room as ghosts. In other words, they're there, but they're not physically there. ++++ And for people who complain that it's not cheerful and upbeat enough (in a disco kinda way) for Christmas, have you ever heard of classical Christmas stories like Dickens' Christmas Carol, which are all about things like ghosts, tragedy and the full range of human emotions, including love and happy things too? Hard to believe that some people have such a narrow frame of reference now that they need all of their songs to sound alike and have the exact same emotional content. But if this is too much for them to handle, I would recommend that they please go enjoy all the cheerful bubbly songs that they like with the other children. There are hundreds of happy, clappy jingle-bell type songs out there to choose from. The only thing keeping haters here is their desire to post messages of Christmas hate against this lovely song by two lovely ladies. It's great to have an ADDITIONAL song to add to the list. Why anyone would complain about having an additional choice is a mystery to me.

Because it's just like they NEVER have anything new to say. They've been saying the same things for about five years now. So it's obvious they really have no other reasons to hate on her. But hey. They're wasting their time for the past five years. Hahaha but bom is great. She does ad-libs for a reason. She sings the higher ranged parts for a reason. Like give it up already.
This Christmas season I had this on my playlist again... It's been a year since this came out (my comment from last year is still up there, lol). I actually like this song a lot. Very mellow, jazzy, sort of sad... A more mature and grown-up Christmas song that is different than the other religious and/or upbeat cheery songs out there... Sometimes you just feel this way. And this song captures it nicely.
Listening/watching this again, I still love how they both sound here-- similar, deep, soulful vocal tones: Lee Hi and Park Bom... If you can get past the fact that Bom pronounces words her own way (both English AND Korean-- it's not book "correct"), then you realize that she's actually pretty damn good in this song and it makes me wish she did more bluesy/jazzy songs!
Bom needs a solo album. Lee Hi needs a full solo album. They can do one as a unit, I don't care. I want to hear more of these two ladies. I love love their voices.

Nostalgic. My kpop life is already over when everything fell apart with 2ne1, I decided to leave bc it's depressing. But then I just saw Bom covered Hayi's scarecrow song and remembered they had this collab.
Woah, I'm having my memory lane playlist with YG Family rn. When this song came out, it totally made all happy anticipating christmas. No one cares about the views nor the like of the mv, we are just appreciating the vocals of this two angels, but now as I have observed kpop community is kinda complicated with all the fandom wars.

Her voice hasn't really changed but her actual technique is awful, so her voice is ruined after all these years using a bad technique so now she can barely sing using her regular voice. I love her voice but she should've had a good vocal teacher who taught her an actual good technique... Now it's too late and she ruined her voice. I guess it's partly YG's fault not giving her a vocal teacher, too bad because she's talented.

@ Luisa Leal : If you are wondering what the story means, try looking at it again as a Christmas ghost story. The scenes will then make perfect sense, as follows: (1) It clearly starts out with Bom all alone and looking out the window on a bleak Christmas, terribly missing her adorable sister, Hi (who has already passed on). (Some people prefer to think of it as a mother-daughter relationship, rather than a relationship between sisters. The video doesn't make it perfectly clear on that point.)
(2) Then we can see that Bom has joined Hi as a ghost in the beyond. This is symbolized by one stream of white ghost ectoplasm coming under the door being joined by a second stream. The ectoplasm appears again near the end.
(3) The Burial/Grave Scene: The next scene shows Hi as the first character appearing in her grave in the "buried" pose (symbolized by greenery representing the ground around her). This indicates that she was the first sister who passed on (perhaps on a previous Christmas) and Hi's singing in this scene shows that her spirit is sadly wishing to see her beloved older sister again on Christmas.
(4) Then we are shown the desperate and tragic thing that Bom did on her last day in the living/physical world in order to be together with Hi again on Christmas, because she so desperately missed her little sister. Very sad. (The lifeless pose with the white "jelly beans" (obviously intended to look like pills) seems to be in the abandoned house where in the past she enjoyed so many happy times with her adorable little sister.)
(5) Hi's spirit then awakens (symbolized by her being covered in the veil) and sits up because she senses that something is happening to Bom and that Bom's spirit is coming and will soon join Hi in the ghost realm. We then see Bom acting out her last sad moment before she rejoins Hi. (This scene also shows that Hi's spirit has always lingered near Bom's side, even though Bom could not know that while she was alive.)
(6) The next scene now shows Bom in the "buried" pose (surrounded by greenery, again symbolizing her grave and the earth/ground surrounding her). This clearly indicates that she has also passed on now. And she's singing her dying wish, namely: "Make my wish come true...All I want for Christmas is you" (meaning Hi) and.... voila! At 0:56, we see Hi's adorable spirit tending to a Christmas tree. (The fact that they are being depicted as souls in their graves explains why their lip-syncing in those burial/grave scenes is not extremely lively and animated.)
(7) After Bom's spirit makes that final wish, we see that Bom's wish has come true and she's now a spirit celebrating Christmas with lovely Hi, but only at a terrible cost. (Remember, the room was empty at the beginning, so we're now obviously seeing Hi's and Bom's spirits in the ghost realm.) Bom is looking at Hi with expressions of adoration, showing that her spirit is happy to be reunited with her adorable little sister again (or daughter, if you prefer), and we see tears in her eyes indicating that she's both happy to be reunited with Hi, but also sad about the tragic thing she did to get there.
(8) As it continues, all of the visual cues and symbols point to this being a Christmas Ghost Story, with them celebrating Christmas in ghostly ways.
(9) The stuff they throw in the mixing bowl wouldn't make sense for physical/living people. But ghosts don't eat, so they're just going through the motions of having a fun time together mixing something up in the kitchen (the way little kids play at having tea parties). They also play together in the hallway, probably reenacting the fun times they shared when they were alive and living in that home. The white rat is probably a rat in the physical world that was nibbling on a piece of cake that Bom had tried to eat before her demise. We see it suspended in the air and moving backward, as though time stopped and reversed a little at the moment that Bom passed on, since in the ghost realm time has no meaning.
(10) If, like in the ghost movie "The Others", you realize that you are now seeing a haunted house from the point of view of the ghosts doing the haunting, the other weird things make sense too. For example, in the ghosts' dreamlike state in which they are celebrating Christmas together, they are simply dragging a bag of ice across the floor to make an ice sculpture with an axe. But if a living person were in the house during the haunting, they would just hear something being dragged across the floor and then something sounding like an axe wacking away at something -- and it would sound really spooky and mysterious to them. And then they would go tell ghost stories about what they heard in the "haunted house".
(11) Finally, I think the empty frames at the end and the white liquid (ectoplasm) in the crystal cups, symbolize that they are only present in the room as ghosts. In other words, they're there, but they're not physically there.

And for people who complain that it's not cheerful and upbeat enough (in a disco kinda way) for Christmas, have you ever heard of classical Christmas stories like Dickens' Christmas Carol, which are all about things like ghosts, tragedy and the full range of human emotions, including love and happy things too? Hard to believe that some people have such a narrow frame of reference now that they need all of their songs to sound alike and have the exact same emotional content. But if this is too much for them to handle, I would recommend that they please go enjoy all the cheerful bubbly songs that they like with the other children. There are hundreds of happy, clappy jingle-bell type songs out there to choose from. The only thing keeping haters here is their desire to post messages of Christmas hate against this lovely song by two lovely ladies. It's great to have an ADDITIONAL song to add to the list. Why anyone would complain about having an additional choice is a mystery to me.
