Ironically, Julio was also rather hostile towards idea of mixing aggressive skating with big wheels at the time. It is good to see he has matured, though.

I kind of get it, though. Back when Powerslide have came out with a concept of powerblading (aka grindable big wheel frames mounted to aggressive boot), aggressive inline was in a rather rought spot. I think Julio was massively frustrated by that, especially after his Valo Light project has proven to be a failure and simply a poorly engineered product (I recall people bolting fking METAL PLATES inside the shell to make it more durable, thus removing "Light" part of the equation).
Then something he tried to distance from his whole career and build an image of rollerblading as a "serious" action sport by nurturing its specific culture, comes in and steals the thunder. Everyone out of sudden starts to roll on big wheels and do less "core tricks", more "goofing around". Being an OG he simply went into "kids these days!" mode and he wasn't alone. Farmer did the same even though he was sponsored by Powerslide (through Xsjado and Unercover). Beau Cottington was having a hate diarrhea all over social rollerblading channels, lol.

You don't necessarily need special skates, especially not at the start. You can wear a natural rocker into your wheels or even use different sized ones to create a rocker and get started on your current skates.
you can get a budget setup of sorts, there are cheaper alternatives
always liked 5 wheel skates never knew they could do that
