    idk why everyone thinks 4C girls hate their hair. Nah, it's just a lot of work to maintain if we just "leave it alone"

      Well, I can see why they do. My mom made nasty comments pertaining to her own hair and she hasn't even seen it. Plus some actually don't. But they shouldn't assume every one does

      Tbh it's a love/hate relationship for me. Just with anything 4c hair has its pros and it's cons but being that it grows from my head I embrace it as it comes. But one thing embracing my natural has taught me is patience BC it takes a whole lot of that to maintain the health of 4c hair.

      It’s the same reason why they think dark skin girls hate their skin. 4c hair, wide nose, dark skin is the epitome of blackness and apparently we are supposed to hate it

      Coconut oil has some protein and I'm 4c and can't handle it, anytime I put any protein in my hair or anything that has a little of it like coconut oil, my hair looks like it's been electrocuted when I use coconut oil on it, There is no one size fits all, we all have different things going on.

      I'm not 4c I'm 3c 4a but I'm learning a lot from 4c people when it comes to length retention I have lots of tangles too with wash and Gos and for the hair goal I want which is waist length I'm going to be leaving my hair in twists and doing buns and such with those twists to to reduce tangles shedding and split ends making my hair thicker and longer (I know I'm not 4c so you guys probably have a larger problem with tangles with wash and Gos I'm not comparing my struggle with your struggle pls don't attack me thx)

    • @FortunaFavored
      @FortunaFavored 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Katiri Sherman I feel you. My hair is 3C in the back, and it still tangles like crazy, but quite a bit less than the other areas of my hair. It drives me nuts just the same. The back section of my hair retains length a lot better, and is much less damaged by wash and gos, which i attribute to the looser curl pattern. So, now when I do twists, i make the ones in the back bigger, out of laziness.

    • @whatliesbeneaththeweave3518
      @whatliesbeneaththeweave3518  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, my friend's hair is 3C, but she does the EXACT same thing I do to my hair for length retention. And she doesn't wash n go either.

      My hair at my crown is just ugh it's dryer and more fragile than the rest the rest of my hair is smooth and soft like warm butter and the crown is so crispy and splits and knots easily it's a nightmare if I want my hair to be at my waist I need to keep it contained my hair has been at my bra strap for a few years because I liked the length but now I was looooong hair in a big fluffy twist out 😍

    • @AngelaCelesteMay
      @AngelaCelesteMay 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      "...and have a convention." 🤣🤣🤣 I can't! But I do relate. My wash and go results in a cute little curl pattern.(I think I have 3c/4a in the back and 4b on top and in front), but like she said, after one day of fully shrunken hair, whoo boy, talk about taking YEARS to comb out. Painful but I don't get alot of knots, it just takes extra time to minimize the pain!

      +loriparis25 ...... I find any thin hair type like 4c hair, loves coconut milk and avocado(it wants protein) but it MUST mixed with conditioner or oils to help detangling and absorption. I know this from experience as, the texture of my hair completely changed(from 4b) after I introduced these 2 on it. It depends on what you put on it(based on what you were born with) that changes the pattern (like perm does but in a damaging way); made sense to me.
      Now it has more of a 3c 4a pattern. My intention was never to change my curl pattern but to help my hair be healthier. Learned all this by accident. I am N😶T promising a curl pattern change here; just sharing my experience.

      kamya monroe I know what shrinkage means. "We" have a hair type that doesn't allow us to wear shrinkage everyday because it results in damage and cutting out hair because of knots and tangles. I would love to be able to rock a fro everyday, but if I did...I wouldn't have any hair. And I learned this the hard way. If you have "manageable shrinkage" kudos to you 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

    • @Cattitude369

      Rainbows Channel I think it is a misconception that we should embrace our shrinkage because that is how our hair grows our of our scalp. Most records I looked into of ancient African hair there are very few, if any, featuring shrunken fros. Most had ornate styles using mud, herbs, butter, adornments, etc. I also heard anyone walking around like that was either mentally ill or grieving. Haircare was a ritual and social gathering. You were identified by your hairstyle (social ranking, tribe, etc.). We were so creative and exotic in our hair statements.
      This whole "embrace a tangled & knotted shrunken bush" baffles me. I think it is more tied to us embracing and loving our hair but it is not practical and from reviewing history is not our natural inclination. We don't have to walk around napped to the hilt to love and embrace our hair. It is actually a diservice as the BEST part about our hair is the ability to do so many magnificent styles. It is what makes our hair so unique and special IMO.

      well again we gonna have to add 4z to the spectrum. 4z doesnt hang when shrunk like yours. it cannot respond to flexy rods for longer than an hour. 4z cannot be worn out or else it would dry out and fall out. 4z does not tangle. 4z dont and it just wont. either we add 4z or you need to jump to 4a

      Just had to say, having 4c hair doesn't mean your hair have to be super shrunken or tangled. Even people who are considered to have the same hair type can have hair that acts completely different from each other. Plus the shrinkage would probably be more noticeable with 4a hair bc it's more coiled.
