Fantastic tones here, well done. So I have a GT-1000CORE that I've been having fun experimenting with over the last couple months, but otherwise am fairly new to the world of digital modeling, and I'm curious what the Two Notes Cab Ms are bringing to the table here that the IR loader in the GT-1000 is not. Is it just so you can have way more IRs on tap, or does that device actually sound better than the GT?
Hey Josh, thank you very much! I like your curiosity & you’re slightly ahead of me! This sound check is ahead of a vid that is a bit of a deep dive into why, how & what Cab M really brings to the table - vid should be up tomorrow. I love what GT has given us on the last update cab/mic wise but the Cab M is a dedicated power amp, cab, mic & EQ solution that allows you to go deeper & really funny tune - it’s almost an unfair contest from that perspective but I’ve gotten really close with GT. Btw, that clip on your channel of you playing acoustic is absolutely beautiful 👌🏼..just sub’d in the hope it’ll encourage you to give us more 🙏🏼
@@planzed463 Thanks for the sub! Indeed, in the past there have been more videos on the channel, but I delisted most as they were recorded long ago in much inferior quality, and I'm still trying to figure out what sorts of things I'd like to record and put out there :) You're probably about to cover this in your deep dive, but yeah the question of power amp modeling is something I've wondered about with the GT. I'm assuming that, if any such modeling exists, it's within the Amp blocks and not the Speaker Out blocks, is that right? One of my experiments with the CORE was to run an old Tech 21 Blonde (analog amp/cab pedal) in an FX loop, because it sounds pretty good and I thought it might be fun to try it out with IRs rather than its own cab sim. The results were okay, but it did feel like there was something lacking. The AIRD models in the GT all have a "sag" control which I think lets you compensate for the power amp sound, and that's probably what was missing. Anyway, cheers! Love the videos, I also subscribed!
@@joshundrwd don’t worry about what type of music you put out, just by putting stuff out you will learn the craft & fine tune the idea of what you want if that makes sense? Yea all questions answered in the vid but to answer your Q, no, the preamp block is just a preamp, the power amp sim is in the cab block (from the tests I’ve run & seen)... for example, with cab M I have to engage the power amp or sounds sht. That said the trick to cracking the power amp feel is in the sag (which is basically compression) & resonance. I say that, EQ, none of the above sounds great until the EQ set in the patch & on output are set right -I chased my tail for about a year cracking that nut 😂 Doesn’t surprise me that your Tech 21 didn’t sound great through GT cabs.. I reckon that units own cabs will be designed specifically for its preamps to sound great... I put a Victory V4 sheriff through GT cabs & it sounded pants.. it’s what led me to Two Notes. Thanks for the positivity dude, glad you’re enjoying the vids. Once I’ve got this GT amp deep dive done the musicality will vary a lot more - I’ve got a Godin nylon acoustic that sounds lush through GT but shhh, don’t tell anyone yet 😉😂
Nice sounds again, with that catchy backing. The TN units really do change the sound outputs immensely. Rock on dude, that was an education.
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed the jam! Yea they sound great, i honestly forget that I’m playing a fully digital rig🙃
