Uncharted: Graphics Comparsion 1 Vs 2 Vs 3 Vs 4 (1080p)

- Man its finally done! this has been in the making since last year. i've put well over 30+ hours of editing into this video.
In preparation for uncharted 4, I recorded uncharted 1, 2, and 3 late last year, Into early this year, And now that uncharted 4 is finally out, This video is complete!
Speaking of recording, All the footage you see i recorded myself. I did not take footage from trailers, other peoples gameplay, or anything like that. uncharted 1, 2 and 3 was all recorded strait off my PS3, and uncharted 4 obviously from my PS4.
And on another note, all PS3 footage was recorded in 720p (at 12mbps bit rate), cause my Elgato HD60 does not upscale games. it records games in there "NATIVE" resolutions, all the uncharted games on PS3 are native 720p titles. but of course i recorded uncharted 4 in 1080p at 30MBPS bit rate. i recorded in the highest possible quality for both PS3 and PS4.
I originally wanted do my shots where i compare all 4 games on the same screen vertically, but with such a tiny amount of screen space to work with, it was just not possible to show each game correctly, so i did it 4 player split screen style, In which i think it worked out pretty good!

I remember playing Uncharted 1 when it was new and couldn't believe how amazing the graphics were.. Thought it would never get better... Now looking back at it again uncharted 1 looks terrible af compared to the games these days... Wonder how the games of today will look in the future..

Nah, I really don't think that's a possibility. I think we'll obviously have seen many improvements, but just like people are saying Uncharted 3 still has some pretty great graphics, we'll be saying the same thing about Uncharted 4 in 10 years.

The Jump from the PS3 games to Uncharted 4 is one of the few times I've seen a really impressive quality jump between this generation and the last (so many games this gen feel like higher rez versions of last gen games). That said, I'm also impressed at the jump between Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2.
Uncharted 2 probably had a much bigger budget than the first one after they realised it was a popular game lol. Uncharted 4 is as close as you can get to perfect graphics lol.
Uncharted 1 probably had a good budget too though considering it was being crafted by Naughty Dog who is was still Sony's premiere developer (Crash and Jak & Daxter). I think Uncharted 2 was probably more about them having experience working with the PS3 hardware (notoriously difficult to program for) and having already come to grips with the basic engine.

Is mostly because people didn't knew how to efficiently utilized the shitty hardware of the PS3. In every game they learn more about utilizing full potential of the PS3.(I am not kidding, PS3 was really hard to adapt games to because of the hardware, google it)
Even months after finishing Uncharted 4, i still can't believe it's real every time i see it.

Amazing! So nice to remember how well the franchise has evolved. I still can't believe these mayor graphical improvements, hell I can't even imagine what they will come up with next.... I appreciate the effort of editting this video comparison, specially because you used the original source material instead of the remastered versions of uncharted collection. I've enjoyed it.
Julian Bruno thanks, it took a very long time to edit this. But yeah I wanted to compare all games on they're original platform. It wouldn't make much sense to compare the Nathan Drake collection to uncharted 4.
U4 came out 4 yrs ago and it's still one of the most beautiful games I have ever played.

For me, I realise that the different games, the graphics are focused in different ways. For Uncharted 1, it's their experiment period due to it being the first Uncharted game. In Uncharted 2, it's more about having a lot of the movie-esque feel back in the day. Uncharted 3 is more of playing around with the environments. Uncharted 4 is trying to be photorealistic by using all their knowledge and experience making the previous games. I know I sound confusing haha. anyways great video!

While the graphics were always nice and were cool to look at in UC1-3, I feel like much improved graphics were NEEDED for UC4. The improved graphics helped convey the story much better, because you really start to see the frustration and hurt that Nathan deals with.

sanicthedickhead It's not about the power of naughty dog, but the power of ps4. Ps4 is just a low end gaming pc. This game takes ps4 to its limits but maybe tlou2 runs at 20fps. Then you would get the graphics uppgrade you desire.

You know, I never would've thought these would be my favorite games the first time I ever stumbled upon U1, a game I'd never heard of. I remember my big bro picking it up in 07 and watching him play it and and it was damn good so when U2 came out he took me out of school to go pick it up and we played it for days. U3 I got to play before him so it was really my first Uncharted experience back in middle school. And lastly, I'll never forget being wowed and sad the first time I played U4, instead of studying for the SAT lol. These games have brought so much joy into my childhood and really got me into history. None of us could've asked for a better game. Thanks to all who worked on them.

In the Graphics Uncharted 4 is the best but in the story uncharted 2 is the best guys
Every Uncharted shows a lot of graphic improvement, it's just amazing.
To be fair, All rhe games had graphics that were pretty advanced for it's time.
Uncharted 3 still holds up surprisingly well. It's only really the poor resolution that holds it back; if not for that I'd honestly say it looks better than many PS4 games. The assets, textures, lighting etc. are just amazing.
Uncharted 3 still looks great, but damn, the leap from 3 to 4 is insane. Naughty Dog truly are magicians.
Call me crazy but i preferred the more colorful comic book look of uncharted 1 -3 as opposed to the realistic grittiness of UC4.
The jump from U1 to U2 is genormous!! From U2 to U3 is mostly better animations and then well U4, it's a new generation soo there is quite a huge difference there too.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention the pretty huge leap in graphics between Uncharted and Uncharted 2. You can tell that making the first game really helped Naughty Dog figure out what they could get out of the PS3

Biggest jump was from U1 to U2.
To everyone saying they don't look right in 4 it was purposely done too make everyone look older and I liked that touch naughty dog did we been playing this franchise for ten years and I loved they aged everyone slightly
Holy fuck, I didn't remember how bad the unshaded foliage looked in Uncharted 1 till now.
I know, uncharted 1 has not aged all that well, where as uncharted 2 and 3 still look great.

I just finished UC1 for the first time ever, and although it was the remastered version, I feel the graphics hold up exceptionally well this many years later. This video kind of proves that.

tbh U2's graphics are better than U3's. They made Elena look like like in the U1 which sucks. U2's and U4's characters are very similar.

I know it likely won't happen, but I'd love to see a complete remake of the original 3 uncharted games with Uncharted 4's gameplay, graphics, and mechanics. I know it's unlikely but a man can dream can't he?
Still, the original three games were all fantastic looking for the times they were released in.
All look incredible, but I can't excuse u3 character models. In cutscenes they look great, but in game they're a serious downgrade from u2 character models, I'm happy they didn't make the same mistake in u4 because that game blows my mind with how incredibly detailed the characters are.

Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us look better than a good 50 percent of the next gen games in my opinion. It may just be 720p, but the amount of detail and care murder a ton of other games.
First when i was playing uncharted 1 it was like we are playing ps4 when i looked back at once i feel oo now these uncharted 4 will become like uncharted 1 when we play uncharted 10or something thak yu very much for this video

the difference between uc1 & uc2 is same as the difference between uc3 & uc4 , maybe because ps3 was at the end of it's life cycle when uc3 was released
