  • 8.7 Canal Hunter continues its quest to track down the original line of James Brindley's Birmingham Canal, this time focussing on the Oldbury area. At on time the Black Country town of Oldbury sat on an island bordered by canals on all sides, but today most have been filled in. This video attempts to recreate Brindley's old line.

As someonme who's lived in Oldbury since August 2019, and who started walking the canals in Lockdown (with my Pearson's Guide!), you've improved my knowledge no end - even to the point of moving the Railway Interchange Yard from where I'd thought it was previously - and it was facscinating to see the old photo before the drone flight, because I live literally opposite the Church, so was able to pinpoint where I live in relation to the "old" town. Many thanks for the explanation.

Interesting video about the history of the canal routes around the Oldbury area. Love it keep up the hard work
One of the canal boats you actually showed around 5:14 to 5:19 of your video the boat labelled I believe is one of my distant relatives, believe its my great grandfather x4/5 removed, you can actually see alot of the history on some of the canal boats aswell when you visit a museum known as the black country living museum aswell, always a good place to visit

@@lifeat2.3milesanhour57 I am relieved! Although sadly the canal itself might qualify currently. Some tlc needed sadly.
