      I do too! I have prismacolor but I sometimes prefer crayola, especially if I’m doing really light colors with minimal layering. They’re so waxy and have less pigment so I don’t tend to see the pencil lines as much. To OP: Excellent drawing demo! You are a skilled artist!

    Maybe it also depends on what you're used to. I've seen some artists make realistic portraits with this crayola set without using other blending materials. I also personally like using crayola more than faber castel. They blend better. The key is to apply colors really, really lightly. I haven't used Prismacolor but they obviously better quality.

  • @carollizc
    @carollizc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Wow, what a great comparison. The prismas are so much warmer, so much more alive. I used the Crayolas in a colouring book, and although the subject was Caucasian, I ended up using the very darkest shades for shadows. So yes, I can see the need for darker shades. I even wished there were darker shades for my picture, and resorted to a Prismacolor sepia pencil. ( I love that pencil. I go through ridiculous numbers of it.) All in all, they were a good, not great, addition to my "box of many brands", and they are definitely colours that I will use in my wildlife art, so a worthwhile purchase. And even with such limited palettes, you've done a wonderful job on this portrait. (Edited for spelling error)

    Crayola did snap with the pigmentation, yet Prismacolor gave such a beautiful smooth finish 🤩

    1:50 You should arrange the colors from dark to light instead of light to dark. Don't put your color near the end, things like this can subconsciously effect you. Might seem like a small detail but things like this add up.

    I like each side in their own right. The texture from the Crayola set had a touch of reality while the other set had the perfection of airbrushing or animation. Either way, you are great!!!

    One thing I do for my colored pencil drawings is buy one of the bigger sets from Crayola, and then I buy a white prismacolor colored pencil since you can buy them separately in places such as Michael's. It works very well and it cost less for more colors, and simpler blending than the Crayola's on their own.

    You really should do another colors of the world video with the regular set of crayola colors. You would definitely make a masterpiece and I’m sure it would be a lot of fun for you!
