Appreciate the heads up, 😂 I think Bethesda needs a heavier filter then, because if somebody's going to make something that's low quality and then have it be very expensive, that's just not fair. They're basically getting paid for nothing. Appreciate the upfront and honest opinion right away... One thing is for certain, whenever it comes to mod reviews for Starfield.. you are my number one go to.
Man, I'm grateful for your reviews. I don't think it's fully understood how much time is saved in the worth of dropping a mod...and by all means definitely keep it real, good or bad. Thank you!
This is why BGS needs some quality and publishing standards, as well as a customer review mechanism. Most players are watching TH-cam or reading Reddit.
In order for a person to be able to join into the creations program they're supposed to have a portfolio of already created mods or creations now if I go to buy a creation I have learned that if you do not have any other creations in your library and all you have is one paid creation I'm not buying shit from you you're going to break my game and the saddest part is bethesda's going to let you rip me off and break my game
This was the case for the Creation Club. The Verified Creators program doesn't have the portfolio requirement. However, it's extremely unclear what the new criteria *are*. There are some modders who definitely should have been allowed in who got rejected, without a clear reason why, and then on the other hand there are completely new modders like the author of this one who get accepted right away and then drop a big turd. The process is incredibly opaque, and just from observing the results I'd say it's pretty clearly broken as well. EDIT: I was mistaken, there is a portfolio requirement still. However, the portfolio doesn't have to include any prior released mods for a BGS game, which is presumably why we're getting a bunch of verified creators nobody in the community has ever heard of before.
This is why we don't add all the mods. Now, I will say that putting a cap on mods (per pc/Xbox stats) would be good, just so people don't risk overloading their game and it crashing...but most of us who mod, typically dont add a crap ton of mods and expect the game not to crash.
Allowing a mod like this through is one thing, allowing it through at 800 credits and then having the audacity to feature it front and centre on the Creations page is quite another. I am loving the mods, they are changing the game; it’a galling that Bethesda aren’t properly curating this critical aspect of the game’s longevity, and many people will be left with a bad taste after being ripped off by this. Thanks for showcasing it so less people can be drawn in.
I love and appreciate your honesty upfront. Star field is one of my FAVORITE games ever for its starship design, base building, and I get to be a space cowboy 🤠 MODS though is what brought me back to the game cause as is with vanilla it just ain’t enough by Bethesda to make it repayable on repayable. Mods tho have allowed me to further customize my game to fit my exact needs and wants so I stay watching your mod vids of this. Would love a mod that would allow me to place a microphone or microphone stand when lever I’m using the build menu 🤔 keep up the great work chief 👍
You absolutely nailed this review, I was checking this out and decided to give this a look first. This is bad even for a freebie, I'm on a fixed income nowadays, $8 is a lot and I expect (rightfully so) much better than lipstick on a farm animal lol. Thanks again Crimson
I mean, if you're offering a front row seat to you losing your mind over poorly laid out paid mods... 😈 But that is why I said previously that paid mods shouldn't have been in a free-for-all marketplace layout: that's just asking for a thousand different people to try to rip you off. Paid mods should at most be a high end showroom where the best of the best is displayed along with a way to offer patronage.
Yeah, mods that are made in bad faith like this are why so many people don't like paid mods. Not because it feels like Bethesda's trying to milk money from us, but because if opens the door for crappy devs to rip us off with bad mods.
I wonder if Bethesda QA did their "work" in a retail copy of the game? From the standpoint of professionalism the final pass through for QA should be done from the consumer standpoint: load the file in a retail copy of the game, if there is a quest do the quest states and markers function properly, if you have doors or items to interact with try interacting with them all, if you have weapons/gear try them out(also confirming each mod option and intended stats), walk through physical spaces and confirm textures and collision, etc.
These responses kinda have me wondering if I am the only person on Earth (so to speak) who actually played this mod through to (almost) the end. At the moment, I am stuck in a tunnel with Sarah with the 3rd key in hand and seriously lacking communication about the necessary sequence for shutting down the memory storage modules apparently necessary for keeping the evil creatures from forever spawning. The final note from the guy who took his family to Schrodinger in order to keep them safe (Whoops!) left a note that describes next steps (like exiting) that appear to have been translated into English from a no longer existent language. Up side is that I have gained 6 levels shooting all the nasty creatures who keep appearing out of nowhere. Anyone else made it to where I am?
They showed up for me as poi map makers I didn’t have half the problems you did performance wise and I played on console though, but I felt like it should have been an actual quest and have some actual unique loot
@ you can. It’s actually easier for them to do because credits are not an actual currency; it’s not like processing a return through a financial institution.
Meanwhile Skyrim just releaaed a DLC sized creation with a landmass equivalent to Solstheim for 5 bucks. Starfield's VC thus far focused is on quantity over quality.
@@bossredd-77 Well yeah, obviously it's going to take time for Starfield mods to reach the quality of Skyrim's. I was more or less comparing the paid mods for the games, and how BGS is handling them.
Every single part of this is so incredibly amateur, I can’t even point out everything I can see wrong with it without writing a novel. This is EXACTLY why Bethesda should be called out for not having strict guidelines for allowing someone to be a “verified creator”. I wouldn’t be surprised if I cracked this mod open to find dirty edits.
Great review, i bought the mod and it's surely a headbreaker but if you take your time and look around you will find the indications on how to go on. i had the stuttering as well but i have this with other mods as well, i thought this was my fault. The Varuun location is ok, lots of things to do. Is it overpriced, Yes but overall if you take your time it's ok.
28:51 Bro falls 2000 feet while car goes flying off, "where tha fuck did i park my car?" I'm not real sure but i think that gravity parked the car for you Crimson. 🤣
Thanks for your great work. Unfortunately there are many paid mods that don't work that have bugs and create problems for the game. Bethesda should intervene.
I don't have this mod in my load order and my game also stutters when I'm in any densely populated interiors (The Well, Neon, etc. etc). The game was doing fine without any stutters before the Shattered Space update. But I wasn't sure if the stuttering was caused by the update itself or by me for having too many mods (I installed a TON of mods after the Shattered Space update 😅). But seeing that you don't have that many mods in your load order, I'm beginning to suspect this stuttering issue IS caused by the update itself.
Thanks for all the awesome content Crimson! A quick note on this Mod. Though I agree 100% with your assessment on the first location you missed out on a whole lot of fun getting that third key. I wont say too much so as not to spoil it but I just ran it on hard and it was the toughest challenge I've faced on this game. That second location is hell itself and your on a clock at the end. Take your best weapons and a lot of medpacks!
Lol 0 respect for the mod author, ai voice acting, no lip synching, 800 credits, the location looks bad, no quest scripting, no map marker, looks rushed, not lore friendly, nothing is good in this mod. Imagine did not see this video and just buy the mod like that
I had the stuttering in neon too. idk if it will be the same for you but when i disabled the starborn guardian+ mod you showed awhile ago the stuttering went away.
There is NO QUALITY CONTROL at BGS. People can upload whatever they want once they are Verified. Thats why we get all thease cheap ass 2€ Skin Packs. BGS need to fucking put in some rules so only Mods that actually are worth money are allowed or we end up like in 2012 were people charge 10€ for a Horse-Anus Retexture.
Wish I’d have seen this before buying. Glad I wasn’t the only one yanking out my hair over this mess. Wish I could get my credits returned, this is just less than halfassed thougjt through.
There is 0 quality control for the Creations shop, so many cheap low effort reskins getting sold for like $2 and bethesda does nothing as they get like a 30% from everything and there are no refunds. Bethesda makes money either way, selling an empty game and let modders make the "content" to sell on their store has become bethesdas goal.
33:50 i also thought wwise was designed to stop ai voicing. 800cr and ai voices. Come on now. And all those npcs sounded ai apart from the ones already in. 35:40 😂😂😂😂 43:04 at this rate, either make a kickstarter for funds for a mod idea or someone needs to mod the ck to have a classic windows wysiwyg styled wizard for making npcs and quests.
Paid mods bring out the mod mercenaries. A free mod is done for the creative challenge and the mod author enjoying sharing their work with us and it is appreciated. I’m not saying everyone that slaps a price tag on their work is a hack, some of what’s offered is quality. We can debate prices and practices all day long. I’m saying enticing people with money for mods with little to no oversight brings out shady opportunists.
When you charge money for a product, you're opening yourself up to criticism. Regalrdess of my opinion if your OK with the quality of the mod then by all means support the modder
Uhmm no bruh. Homie is asking top dollar for his creation. Way more than some actual qaulity work. It is in your analogy more like asking gucci prices but delivering hanes 3 pack cotton t shirts for the money. I bought the mod for the record because i try to give most stuff that seems remotely interesting a shot before i look it up so i can decide for myself. This one was awful.

In the mod description the mod author writes "If you survive all this, the big price is yours!" . I'm starting to think that wasn't a typo.

See, I'd assume that too, but they keep their qa pretty quiet and under nda. It does seem common sense to test the basics though
Not to be mean but I’m glad you’re reviewing these mods so I don’t have to buy them if there not worth it or not.

Technically text to speech isn't generative AI but it's still not good.

It sounds like text to speech. It's not 'AI' but it is computer generated.
Having listened to enough stories with text readers, that is definitely what it is.
Also the spelling on the subtitles / dialogue in general was atrocious
