Jamaica Plain is a great, diverse neighborhood with a lot to offer, especially for families. We see lots of families get their first condo in JP, and then move out into homes in Roslindale or Dedham in subsequent years.
It would be nice to know the areas not to go. I am here visiting and I know there are some rough areas, one of which I think is just down the road from where I am staying.
