Breaking Down Boston
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 ก.พ. 2022
I make videos that make your move to Boston easier.
I am a Boston transplant. Moving to Boston was an overwhelming experience.
I didn't find as many guides on moving to Boston as I had hoped, and the quality information that I did find wasn't in one place. I've decided to create this channel to capture what I have learned from my experience moving to Boston.
So if you're hoping to learn about relocating to Boston, or if you just want to learn more about the city, subscribe to this channel to follow all updates. Feel free to let me know any aspects of the city you would like for me to break down.
My goal is that you can take just one thing away from this channel that will make your relocation to Boston easier. If you aren't relocating, I hope you can learn just one new aspect about the city.
Thanks for watching!

Pro: Everyone is an A-Hole. Con: Everyone is an A-Hole.
7:50 - "These are periods of times where Ubers and Lyft don't run" I want to point out a correction here. The period in question is 1AM to 2:30AM. It is not that Uber/Lyft does not run at that time in Boston, it is that Boston's bars let out at 2AM. As such, there is an extremely high demand for Uber/Lyft that there are not enough drivers to cover it all. With that said, if you do plan on trying to take an Uber/Lyft within that timeframe, expect to wait 1+ hours for an available ride with a price that is 3+ times what it would normally cost.
Better than new york😅
Jk. Not safe 😢 God bless the Irish 😮 the Kennedy s😮😮😮😅

We're moving from Arizona to Boston. Tips to adapt to weather?
Layers!! And find an empty lot to practice the first time you drive in heavy snow. In my opinion, spring and fall are heaven, and summer is mild. So I’ll deal with windy winters with a great winter jacket :)
The very best place to live in Boston, is forty-five miles south in Rhode Island, and it's only an hour drive to the city.
I'm thinking of moving to Boston or Seattle..
Boston would be a great choice!
Seattle would be better!
@@bingorfm724 why?
This past couple years inflation has decimated all extra cash, groceries are out of control, elites telling you to suck it up are the reason Trump won thank GOD.THIS PLACE IS A HELLHOLE of liberal lunatic suffering.single lane with speed bumps every 20 feet in some towns truly miserable
It is like TWD, k os 😮!!!
When I want to find a “winter in somewhere” video, this is exactly what I want to know. Thank you!
Fantastic! Super happy that you found it helpful!
Definitely not shocked that we scored the highest in "Wind" it's the only stat I look at when checking the forecast. Great Winter breakdown!!
I’m thinking about moving to Massachusetts in a few years but Cambridge not Boston. I’m from Long Island NY and during the winter more so after January….that’s when we get our big snowfalls. I think when I move to Cambridge though I’m gonna live closer to the downtown area which yes it will be expensive but, hopefully the inner city area doesn’t get as much snow as the outer suburbs.
Well, I'm sure it'll get the same amount of snow, but it'll certainly be removed more quickly and efficiently than in the suburbs.
I can say we have had some tough ones and I still would notchange it for anything else.
Love it. Thank you for a great video 🙂
If you are visually impaired you can apply for a blind access card and ride the entire system for free
The only thing I think you missed is the direction of travel if it’s inbound or outbound would’ve been the only thing out of added to your video. Other than that it is top notch and superb. Great job. Keep up the great work.
Too segregated by neighborhoods Too cold Too expensive Too much taxes Too high cost of living The good: The land of my youth! Great Hospitals Great college town ... !
Kmfk we are coming to see you Girlie Be in Boston soon
Greetings. Im a old native born New Yorker from the Bronx living out in the S.W. region , in New Mexico and have been here for a few decades now. I lived in the Boston area in the early 80's i really enjoyed my time living there and seeing many cultures that quickly reminded me to dome extent the boroughs of N.Y.C. in some aspects. Don't get wrong though both have their unique things but ? Never the less great. I actually lived in the witch city Salem and that little town north of Boston was really interesting in its right too. Anyway in close i hope one day before i pass i can get back to the beloved Northeast and enjoy once again all the sites and sounds of both N.Y.C.? And the Boston areas. Grazie mille Buona Natalie
I’m from Long Island NY and I’m actually thinking about moving to Massachusetts in the next 2 years specifically Cambridge. Ironically I’m from a town on Long Island called Baldwin, and there’s a neighborhood in Cambridge called Baldwin. So maybe that will be the part of Cambridge that I’ll move to.
Boston is expensive because salary is high.Nurses, teachers , police officers, bus or train operators all making 80 to 150.000 dollar a year.
Thanks buddy for the content
Unlike many American cities, I find all Boston suburbs to be nice---with the exception of Lynn & Revere
I grew up in charlestown from 70s to 2000 my family still lives there my family live there over 100 years not the same as we grew up everyone knew each other or Related love love it back then but not same now changed alot ❤❤❤
Interesting but I still sticking to the old card and kiosk system for now 😅 But I may try this way eventually.
I love cape cod…every inch of it. I think real estate is on the cape is separate from north of Boston. There are no big colleges down there. That’s a big negative.
Nice nice work here. Couple of additions…many people of Asian decent move to quincy because of the shopping; Waltham is on route 128 where there there’s a nice pocket biomedical and technology companies; Brookline is known for an excellent school system, many private schools and within walking distance almost to Fenway park and Boston children’s and Harvard medical. Look into Nahant, a lamb chop shaped town connected to Lynn by a causeway. Many doctors and airline people, northeastern marine biology lab, where nothing really happens. A member of the Boston mafia, Angullo, lived there for years. You fly over it to Logan. Great job…keep going. It would be fun to ask a bunch of college students their opinions of different parts of mass.
Winterhill brewery is a bad example there. I live in assembly, google maps says its a 20 min walk but its only 15.
Having to take a bus to the T from the airport while ribbing chicago for ohare being far away is hilarious. Bad design.
The station is at the entrance of the airport. You could walk there in 20 minutes or less. Bus is just faster.
@@BreakingDownBoston No that is what I am saying. The blue line in chicago is right at the airport. Way better than what boston has.
@@itsamooncow Ah I see what you mean. Essentially, the transit line in Chicago was built to terminate at what is essentially Central Parking in Boston. In that case, yes... better convenience to the commuters. However, one must remember that Boston's Blue Line was built prior to Boston's airport construction.
hello! recently accepted a position at HBS. Looking for good areas to live. Walked around Alston and it wasnt that classic 'boston' vibe the back bay provides. Any recommendations? I have never lived in a large city before what is the maximum ideal walking/biking distance when commuting?
Congrats on the job! I’m assuming HBS means Harvard Business School. If yes, ideal walking or biking distance is whatever you’re willing to tolerate. I prefer 30 minute or less walk. Anything longer than that is miserable in parts of winter. HBS is sort of off public transit, unless you want to walk from the Green Line or Red Line. If you don’t want Allston, you could try Harvard Square or Central Square. North Brookline would also get you close to the 30 minute walk radius.
Hmm... how about tax elephant in the room
The crimes are kind of overstated. I live in a city with an almost higher crime rate than Dorchester, I have never gotten crimed.
Boston Massachusetts is a good place to live at but one down fault the state has the bad conn artist and the liers and many killers and people with diseases it's the people in Massachusetts that makes Boston Massachusetts the hell hole.
Growing up my grandmothers house was the first house on Dover St. and when I went to college I moved in there shortly after she passed away and continued to live there for the majority of the 2010s. So this is basically my old front yard you're talking about here, lol. Yeah some of the new gentrified stuff was annoying but that BFresh being put in was an absolute game changer.
No, I'm sorry but you put the Olympics in this city and you might as well have dropped a nuke on it. (Oh, um...insert Fallout 4 joke here, I guess...)
Going this weekend with mom! Best recommendations???
The fall colors are starting to show! Check out the Boston Public Garden, or the Charles River Esplanade if you get time.
When I visited Boston, I took the small boat taxis. A walk to the pier, call for a taxi and wait. The cost was $5 and nice tour of the waterfront. Check your hotel location to make sure that the waterfront taxi has landings nearby.
not safe
I really enjoy the video in Boston, thankyou so much 🙏👍 Regards from Jakarta in Indonesia 🇮🇩

Thank you! That settles it!
South Boston vs Charlestown ? To settle down long term family mid 40s with middle school, high school and college kids , condo/apartment home ?
Really can’t go wrong either way if you’re looking to stay close to the city. Generally speaking, Charlestown of today probably has more families.

Dude what a great video! Thanks for the work you put in to include the necessary travel info.
Thank you for the kind feedback! Glad you found it useful!
Driving from the airport to salem,at night, with no clue,I wound up in tunnels, circular eways & wound up in the city bus depot...nightmare roads,no sense. You people are lucky you put a lot of lobster in those rolls..I forgive you
Thank you I’m a college student taking the T for the first time tomorrow, not a city girl so I needed this! :)
It's not population driving the higher costs. How come it was so affordable in the 70s than it is now? Pop is only greater by 30k+/- now compared to the 70s? Makes no sense, same room, same population but astronomically more expensive. It hasn't been a gradual increase. This increase in cost started about 20 yrs ago and hasn't stopped and it has spread to almost all of New England. There are no rural or inner city to fall back on. Everything is the same and costs keep rising. Population in Boston was 800k in the 50s but was still affordable? Boston has even reduced or removed housing projects so who did they sell that land too?
Great job ! If you want to guide a tour we are in town coming weekend ✌️
Great presentation - Due to take a train from Manhattan to Boston in Nov when we're over from Ireland to visit my daughter - Is it as Irish as I've heard?
I actually had this conversation yesterday: Dublin and Boston are incredibly similar to me. Of course we could pick out a ton of differences (they’re different countries after all), but in my opinion they both have a similar feel. Very interested to see if you have the same take!
