As an ex-byju's employee who never did any sales, I understand what those parents might be thinking now. Everyone talks about the marketing, the sales and other things. But no one actually talks about post-sales support. We had thousands of students to contact and honestly, there was never enough manpower where we could provide a proper post-sales support. Not to mention that there were false promises from the sales reps as well. We were overworked and underpaid on literally every other turn tbh. The parents' outburst is always a reality to the mentors and the product experts. Not to mention, the lies about refund policy changed almost every day for every other customer. If a parent invests 1 lakh rupees for their child's education, then it is normal for them to have outbursts.
I totally agree with Akash here. And I have no sympathy with Byju's as a company. It's shutting down rightly, and for good

After inquiring about the role several times I was assured that it will be related to "Operations" and not sales or marketing. After joining I was abused for not meeting the targets, my salary which was 14LPA, barely I received 40k. Every week My team used to change and I wasn't even aware of whom I shall be reporting to. Total Chaos at Mumbai branch. The Interns would spend their own money for petrol and visit different places to meet potential customers. They were unpaid and overworked Like hell.
Shame on Byju's for treating employees like this.

As a student, I disagree. In my coaching, teachers are iitians, so I can say I get taught by one of the finest faculty. Now, coming to the point.
Schools are useless for studies, and coaching is fine but not as good as online studies and books. Why should we study from some teachers who don't have any achievements, lack funding and skills. The finest teachers and professors are available online. Also our education system is fked up(I scored 97 percent in 10th, so don't say I am blaming education system bcz I am not good in studies)
In conclusion u guys are useless(talking about avg teachers especially the teachers who teach in school), no hate towards anyone. I am just stating the facts.

In 2007 Byju came to my college, I was not interested to attend but my friend dragged me for company , he was excellent in CAT maths , there were hardly 20 ppl in the session , at that time Byju shared his personal phone number.
I called him later and he was very humble to invite me again at VJTI college for another session. I finally thought MBA is not my stuff and decided to not go further. So I agree this video is absolutely accurate
If byju would have stuck to CAT and teaching personally, he would have been tremendously successfull and easily retired by 35-40 with maybe 300 crores, but maybe he had big dreams which unfortunately did not materialise

I am a 2018 Byju’s employee. Here’s the inside story. When I started working there, the salary given to a fresher is obviously appealing. Which obviously attracts a person. Working there for a few months gave me a realisation that how toxic the environment was. I have never been abused but I’ve heard other employees get abused. Also, incidents like an associate slapping his manager and resigning in front of the whole office was also seen.
When it comes to content, my unbiased opinion is that it is genuinely very good. But it was way too overpriced. 30000 for a year is too much. Being an indian kid myself, no matter how good the Online content, I would only sit for studies if there was someone standing over my head. That’s why our parents used to send us to tuitions. I was good at studies yet reasons for sending me were entirely different. I think this is where Byju’s model lack. They expected their online learning to actually replace school learning. It can’t even replace tuitions..
Both these reasons combined, I decided to leave the organisation and join a university’s marketing even though I would be getting a comparatively lower pay grade. In my interview, the reason I gave for leaving byju’s was that this model is online ed and it can’t run in india for long. Which was a very valid reason. But then Covid came, and any logical person can make out how the inevitable for byjus got delayed. Infact their sales revenue just rocketed sky high. But I knew it was bound to fall.
At last, I think the only chance of survival for byju’s is their smart decision of acquiring Aakash institute. However, they will have to let go of their ego of online model and just make it a part of offline learning at a reasonable price.

All they did is cheat, and it starts from the very fact that i was recruited as a Business Development Executive (meaning sales person), but they disguised me as an Education Counselor (a teacher),
I can remember how verbally abusive they were,
I am Happy i made no sales, i did not put much effort as i was planning to resign sooner the possible,

Agreed 👍. Exactly my thoughts. And I think we Indians are so result oriented because of our historical poverty. When you are poor, you start looking at things in a very transactional way - “If I do this, I get this”. You can’t afford to do something just for the heck of it. You are forced to focus on the outcome alone. Short term thinking (I.e. surviving for today) becomes your second nature. To adhere to a process and shift attention away from the outcome, needs long term thinking. That is something we don’t have…sadly.

The reason why Ed-Tech industry is doomed to fail is because they set lofty goals for themselves. They want to replace learning from a Blackboard, Book offline model to Tablet, computer Online model. There are plenty of drawbacks with learning from Tablets: 1) Lack of Supervision. 2) Attention span 3) Absence of Study Environment, all which play key roles which goes unnoticed.
The most Ed-Tech can achieve is act as a support and an add-on for existing Whiteboard Offline mode, so that students can learn and understand well rather than outright replace Offline mode of learning.
Byju's finally took the right steps when it brought Aakash, but it was too late and at a very heavy price. Sad.

    Being an ex byju's employee... I can.say that..All u r saying is true.
    The faculties
R superb..But byjus ws focusing on money only.
The post sale team was disgusting.
They didn't care about the student who purchased their courses.
They forgot that students r the roots of any ed tech company...,at the end u hv to provide gd education and also u hv to take care of their issues or problems.
Otherwise u'll hv to pay back for everything that u did.

As a former employee of Whitehat, I have seen the rise of Whitehat Jr as a company, the sale to Byju's and the subsequent decline. The employees and customers suffered the most as the perks were cut down immediately after Byjus acquired the firm. New courses were rolled out without a proper roadmap. What used to be a Coding firm was now teaching Music to adults without keeping in mind the age group we are catering to. All this, along with the lay offs of thousands of teachers created an abysmal environment with the customers as their kids were going through multiple teacher changes within a span of few months and the refund requests went to an all time high. At the end, it's Byju's themselves who are responsible for their downfall!

Zooming out - It's sad to see how an entrepreneur is failing, who at one time was known for his quality teaching. It's not the first time when greedy investors having unrealistic expectations put immense pressure on founders to tank the company. Great institutions/relationships take patience & time to build. Else what goes up quickly, falls to the ground in a blink.

    • @TheChromelover
      @TheChromelover 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

You are absolving the founder/entrepreneur of all the blame and putting it all on the investors only. I wouldn’t agree with that. A good entrepreneur would know when to approach investors and when not to. That is where his character gets tested.
Typically, when you approach investors, you are expected to grow quickly and make profits for the investors.
Byju had the option to stop seeking investor’s money a few years back. Focus on the fundamentals of the business (i.e. great learning content), have a specific target market (say, CAT exams or only competitive exams etc) and grow slowly and steadily…This was an option available to him. But he chose the fast lane - take investors money, grow inorganically by mindlessly acquiring companies, focus on everybody - kindergarten to UPSC to coding…. And he failed. If you try to become relevant for everyone, you will end up being relevant for no one.
Ultimately, the investors did not hand Byju the money with a gun pointed at his head.

It’s not just limited to Byjus, there are many EdTech companies like Upgrad who cheat their students to the core. I’m one of the Upgrad students. I joined a course and the fees was 3 lakhs. They guaranteed placement, they said companies will be running behind me. There are more than 600 students in my batch alone. The course is over in October and whenever we ask for placement, they say it will start by next month. So far we 600+ students are convinced that nothing is going to happen.
Just from my batch alone Upgrad made 18Cr (600*300000). Like that there are 100s of courses and every month they start new batches.
The same course which I did for 3 lakhs is available for 70 thousand in another learning company.
I lost my money and one year. Majority of the EdTech companies are fraud and cheat.

I worked for Byju's back in 2020 for a famous role BDA. One of the most high-pressure sales roles where you have to make sales by hook or crook. I could last 1 month of training and left for good. The product was not that bad though but the marketing and sales tactics were total scams. People had already started noticing it back then and that was the ultimate beginning of the end.

I avidly remember, around 6 years ago, BYJU'S was popular among students with reasonable cost.
I think the content was really engaging for middle school students, but over the years they increased the cost, also the work culture was unarguably toxic, we all have been irritated by their calls.
Ultimately this was bound to happen, service and teaching became secondary and making money became their primary objective.
