I’ve owned a 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L for over a year and a half now. I have two boys with twins on the way. My family absolutely loves it. In rebuttal of the things you hate about it, each passenger has their own air vent in the third row which can be moved in many different directions. The touch screen Navigation that we have has been fine. No buttons to push hasn’t been a problem at all. The 2nd row air vents are perfectly fine where they are and height is not an issue for us. I agree less plastic would be nicer on the exterior but it looks great regardless. The Honda Lane Watch can be permanently turned off if you don’t like it under the settings menu. The curved mirror and lane watch along with looking over your shoulder addresses blind spot issues. I wouldn’t mind a blind spot monitor as standard and an around view camera for parking like Nissan has in many vehicles. It drives like a car and has plenty of acceleration for passing and getting on freeways. We’ve had many complements from strangers about how nice it is. Overall, the Pilot is reliable, looks nice, is a top safety pick, is great for families and holds its value over time. I would recommend it to anyone I know who is looking for a great vehicle. I never thought that I would love an SUV/CUV vehicle so much, but I do.
And u love the plenty of space the pilot offers, with much of storage area's
Those aren't really good reasons NOT to buy a car i actually LOVE my 2017 Honda pilot elite its beautiful it works well for me AND my family
I loved the car too. It’s excellent. This video was just meant to highlight some of what I thought were its shortcomings. I would still recommend it to anyone.
Yea I actually saw ur 5 reasons to BUY it after a bit im sorry I meant no offense it was at least a clear video and informative I was trying to find like the pos and negative and differences between the 2017 and 2020 thanx again
I had a 2017 EX-L and now I have a 2020 Touring. No huge differences, the exterior is face-lifted but the interiors are basically the same. The Touring has a few more amenities like a TV and a navigation system.
I like it too, but I also prefer to be honest about what I don’t like.. no car is perfect without some kinks.. but if’ I’m a manufacturer, I would absolutely pay attention to people’s reviews. This is how to improve and evolve to get better.
I've had a 2017 Honda Pilot for nearly a year and I love it. No regrets.

Not a string enough reason not to get the 2018 Honda Pilot Elite next year.
First of all, lets talk about the transmissions. 99.9% of owners could care less about having a nine speed transmission or can tell the difference. Honda need to stick to the 6 speed transmission. The fuel savings is not obvious at all and not worth the reliability problems.

Did you know third row has its own air vents? I love the lane watch feature. It allows me to see cars in next lane without needing to turn my head so I can concentrate on traffic in front of me and to know cars next to me. I wish Honda uses BLIS on left side and lane watch on right side.
I don't care about volume knob. I like the cleanness of the head unit. I love my 2017 Pilot EXL AWD. So much so that I bought a 2018 Ridgeline RTL-E last month.
How is the Ridgeline? I’ve been meaning to review one but haven’t gotten one in yet. The Pilot EX-L is an amazing value and these are just some things that I didn’t like, but some may disagree. It’s just my personal perspective.
I love it. It drives like Pilot but has stiffer suspensions. My Ridgeline is RTL-E so its sound system is much better than Pilot's. MPG is comparable to Pilot's. I haven't haul anything heavy yet but will get 20-30 bails of pine straws for my yard soon. Both have Honda sensing but Pilot's is more sensitive than Ridgeline's. I like both BLIS on Ridge and lane watch on Pilot. I wish Honda could combine both. The only thing I don't like on Ridgeline is its horn. It's like a toy car horn. I am searching for a better horn.
Driving since last 4 years.. I really hate this since first week itself..bought seats with leather and whenever there is a bad road seats literally starts farting.and pickup I'll give 1☆.only good for old people who actually retired or about to get retire

The Infiniti QX60 is in a different class it is in midsize luxury suvs with the Acura MDX (which is Honda’s luxury midsize suv)
Yes, but the fully loaded Pilot Elite costs almost $50k and offers similar features. That is almost the same price as a QX60 which is why some buyers may be cross shopping both models.

I see your point but with packages and options, a mid-trim MDX can cost close to $60k. That is much more than a QX60, even with options. Regardless, they are still similarly-priced cars that could be competitors. The automotive market isn’t that clear-cut.

I traded in mine for the 2020. I loved my 2017 but this videos highlights some things I didn’t like. The Pilot is a phenomenal car overall.
I have a 2020 exl with nav and res black on black I love it .lots of pep to it only has 25k on it.the only downfall to the honda is the shitty bridgestone duelers tires honda puts on them they are the worst tires ever I had them on my crv also got 25 on them and were junk .same thing 25k and tires junk.i can't believe the choice they pick for this car I am picking up 4 new michelin defenders tmw.i love the shifts and the controls and my daughter loves the rear ac vents and blue ray also they put the volume knob on 2020 cause they listened to the people .overall I love the car I also love that it came from factory with LED headlights and led fogs and led reverse lights
These cars are outdoing their big brother (MDX).......I've been looking at the comparisons over the last month and a half and it looks like the Pilot is hands down, better! All you need for this car is the right custom rims/tires to bring it out and I think I have just the rims. I'm going 3 piece, color coded chrome lip on white center, for a white Pilot I'm about to get. Unless someone purchases it before I do.
I have 2017 ex awd model...i agree with your comments except the touch screen volume control,instead of pressing that positive or negative sign,just touch that bar on the screen and swipe it up or down and it works quick😊
That is a valid point, I just wish Honda could have made the buttons more sensitive because they don't always respond to my inputs.
I use the steering wheel volume gadget also for changing channels

I owned this car for 3 years and recently traded it in for a new 2020 Pilot. I absolutely loved it. However, no car is perfect so this video meant to highlight some of its flaws.

Get the Honda Pilot EXL. Change out the HID lights for LEDs, cost, $120 dollars. Leave the fog lights alone. For the entertainment system, I brought the kids 7" tablets with protection covers for $120 dollars compared the cost to the optional $1,500 entertainment system by Honda. Add a cigarette lighter to 4 plug USB adapter $8.00, 10' USB to micro cable for $6 each. Add a CURT-class III tow hitch for $135 dollars. Tow hitch cable $47 dollars. From other reports, you will not notice the difference between in mileage or speed 9 speed trans over the 6 speed trans. Save yourself $5K from buying the Touring or $8K from buying the Elite. My phone works fine for negation and tablet hot spot.
When you swapped out the HIDs, curious where did you buy the LED head lights ?

I can agree with the backseat air I’m 6’2 and can’t feel any air in the 2nd row no matter how I adjust it.

The biggest issue for me is Honda's transmission issues. I bought my 2017 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD with 44,000 miles on it and it has a transmission issue from the start, when I read about the Pilot's before purchasing most seemed to have the problem with the 9 speed, but it's an issue with the six speed as well. Except for that I like the car. I put an aftermarket trailer hitch on it, but if you don't put a transmission cooler on it as well it reduces your towing capacity from 5000 pounds to 3500.
I have a 2017 Pilot... the transmission is annoying in how it jerks forward when I'm actually looking to slow and sometimes stop for a red light that suddenly appears. So many gears is not necessary (9) and is really wasteful and senseless. I would prefer 4 smooth gears than 9 jerky gears.
@@michaelluna1968 9 gears 3 of which are overdrive gears gives the Pilot higher mpg. Thankfully I just get a light, nothing jerky.
Yeah, we bought ours used from the Honda dealership. It was having transmission problems even in the test drive. The guy told us its a lane keeping assist feature. We will never buy another Honda again
I owned the car for 3 years and it was flawless. I heard some cars of that model year had transmission issues.
I dont think thats a reason why you shouldn't buy another Honda again. Its probably the previous owner(s) of the vehicle who was probably not taking care of it. Honda will take you up to a lot of miles, can't just rely on used cars because people magically think Hondas last forever - buy a new one and it'll make you real happy🙂
I heard problems with the 9 speed transmisson but is the 6 speed legit? Built by Honda? I’m planning on getting this car
Yes, the 6 speed is a great transmission. The shifts are very smooth and precise.
The 9 speed transmission is German built. It will take time to work the bugs out.
I bought a 2018 Pilot Touring for my better half. It has the 9 spd tranny and I love it, more importantly she loves it. I've tried to identify the complaints I've read about the 9 spd, but dammed if I can feel anything but a smooth shifting transmission. Again, I love the thing....it's a joy to drive.

@@adamhicks1212 I was in a flip between highlander or pilot for the 2020.the highlander has a chain and pilot has belt.the downfall which why I didn't get the highlander was because the 3rd row is a joke and trunk.but the pilot is bigger in the 3rd row and bigger in the trunk but downfall to the honda is its belt driven .I would of got the highlander if it had more room and its chain driven

The 2017 Pilot is an excellent car, by far one of the best SUVs I’ve driven. This video was intended to point out some of the minor flaws it has because no car is perfect.
I don’t own the top of the line I have the ex and we love this suv we quickly got used to no knob on the stereo it does everything we need it to do ! I even like the plastic trim on the body might cut down on some rust problems years down the road

Honda Pilot 2016 and above? Trash... I owned 2014 i have no problem... I have a 2017 Honda Pilot... 50K miles System Emissions Failureeee.. Fuel injection issues. 40k Vehicle with Fuel injections issues WTF? Look on youtube some are 20k Miles with Fuel Injection problem already...No more Honda For me...

I was seriously considering a 2016 or 2017 Honda Pilot primarily for the hip level center console, but so much for that. I test drove a 2015 Honda Pilot, the last year before the big redesign, and loved it, but big center console between the two front seats was somewhat of a turnoff. I wish other car manufacturers would realize that not everyone wants to be boxed in to their driver's seat.

2016 is a dud! Widespread fuel injection issues. A $1500 fix if out of warranty.
Considering buying 2017 with 53k miles for 24,800. Now I'm worried if it's not reliable
They are very reliable. Just get a pre purchase inspection first. But 53k miles is nothing for those cars.
I have a 2016 (bought in late 2015, the first ones to arrive here in Texas) with over 100k miles on it now. It still drives like it did when we got it. I'm honestly very impressed with how good it's been (my other cars are a 19 Lexus RX and a Porsche Cayman GTS) - I put this thing up there with the best of them. I still get 25mpg on highway trips or better, and I can fit 7ft of lumber in the rear. It's really been fantastic.
Problems with Honda pilots
I regret buying a 2017 Pilot touring. I should’ve picked the Durango R/T. The active cruise on the Pilot is frustrating, the CRV, which cost a lot less, has more features than the Pilot. Why didn’t the Touring get real HID or LED lighting? Everything feels cheaply made. The Entertainment system is slow to respond and hardly connects to our phones. Surprisingly, we have had no issues with the transmission and gas mileage is good if you can hypermil. Oh yeah and the front parking sensor doesn’t activate until you are less than 1 foot from an object. On my Audi S3 the beeps get louder and turn into a steady tone once you are close enough to potentially strike an object. I feel like I wasted money and there is no longer any value in buying a Honda. This car is for people who don’t care and just want to drive some soulless means of transportation from Point A to B.

Agreed quality went down significantly, parts are cheapest, windshield cheap so thin will crack on anything, audiosystem could be better for the money, suspension shuts out on bigger bumps soundproofing could be better.
Id say if you buy a car i dont plan on keeping it theres no reason to buy a Honda, Kia and Hyundai are making decent cars now with excellent warranty and with soon Genesis coming up it will be interesting to see what Honda and Toyota will offer, never mind conspiracy on "non-serviceable lifetime transmission oil" just a bunch of crap to make people scrap their cars faster than they should. It's not only bad for the environment but its also a big scam that needs to be addressed. Cheers 🍻
