    Good tips. But what about internet? And what about the power/ electricity info????

    • @lauraabornstein
      @lauraabornstein  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! There's nothing specific about the power/internet situation in Zanzibar that you should know about, it's just like any other travel destination. That said, I probably should have said that the outlets they use are the British-style type G outlets. I'll make sure I include this information in my future videos!

    Hi Laura, are gay people allowed to visit Zanzibar?

    • @lauraabornstein
      @lauraabornstein  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, technically yes, there isn't a rule that says gays/lesbians can't enter Zanzibar, but you should know that homosexuality is illegal in Tanzania and it carries a long prison sentence. While I consider Zanzibar to be safe in general, I don't think it is safe if you're openly gay over there. I really hope this changes in the future and everyone can feel safe in Zanzibar

      @@lauraabornstein Thank you! Maybe I will stick to vacationing In Europe and Asia! Africa and the Caribbean aren’t safe for the LGBTQ community! 😢

      @@Jthegreat84 I completely understand! If you want to travel to Africa though, here are some countries that have decriminalised same-sex relationships: Angola, Botswana, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mozambique, São Tomé and Principe, the Seychelles and South Africa. There are also other countries (such as Rwanda or the Democratic Republic of Congo) where same-sex relations have never been criminalised. That said, even though homosexuality is legal in all the countries I mentioned, it's not widely accepted by the population.
