Wrong I did both, I walked to a boxing club like the shit cause I’ve been doing Maui Thai for awhile and got pretty damn good at it. The old guy at the boxing club told me I was wrong and stepped into the ring with me all bets off, knee, elbow, kicks, whatever. After that I switched to boxing and he became my head coach and I’m starting my amateur card now. I couldn’t even TOUCH HIM and he’s 8 inches shorter than me. I’ve never been jabbed more in my life
So I’ve done a combination of both and I think while Muay Thai has a large arsenal of strikes which is very impressive however boxing is generally easier to learn and would probably serve you better in a fight because most street fights don’t last long and you don’t always need a spinning heel kick in your arsenal especially because often times street fights don’t actually take place in the street, most times they’re in places like your school or a bar (depending on how old you are of course) meaning you are in a small space where you aren’t going to be able to really throw anything kick wise. This is why I’d prefer to use boxing because the uppercuts and hooks you learn are really effective at close range. And before anyone says “I can throw a kick inside” I once saw a guy try to throw a roundhouse inside, he missed and kicked a bar stool which broke his leg, stupid idea. Both are amazing martial arts however and both deserve tons of respect.
I believe Muay Thai would still be better in a street fight, if u went to a good Muay Thai gym they would get you to master the basics before getting you to do any fancy kicks, Muay Thai is great when in close quarters cos they can throw elbows n knees which could easily change the way a fight is going
@@bradpoulter632 while I agree knees and elbows are very effective in a street fight, another point I forgot to talk about is how long it takes to gain a good grip on each martial art. In just 2 months or so of boxing I already knew the punches well and even learned some decent footwork/head movement. With Muay Thai I feel it takes longer to truly get down how to properly utilize strikes like knees, elbows, or kicks. Again though I do agree that elbows and knees are incredibly effective
@@Alles2007 i agree with what u said if you put a muay thai guy who's been training for lets say 2-3 months and a boxer who's been training for 2-3 months the boxer's probably gonna win but if both of them are training for like a year or two then muay thai takes the w in my opinion

Muay thai:
-has good range control
-has powerful kicks
-has good defences
-has clinches
-has combination of punch, kicks, elbows and knees
Boxing:
-has fast punches
-has footwork
-has the combination of punches
-has small range control
-has good defences on punches

Yeah, just make sure not to pick up bad habits like ducking a punch too much because if you do that in Muay Thai, you’ve earned yourself a knee to the face.

The average speed of a boxer’s punch is 20 mph, while the punch speed of the average person is significantly slower at about 15 mph. Fighters with exceptional punching speeds have achieved punch speeds of up to 32 mph in boxing and 45 mph in martial arts punches.

Boxing + Muay Thai = Deadly Combination
Who ever made this reminds me of someone who has been boxing for a week and a half😂😂
I’ve never been jabbed more in my life
I'm certain if you actually got a Him on him you would have likely won
@@lympexyt6969 definitely, when someone does Muay Thai for a long and they learn to be incredibly good at all the weapons they can use (weapons being elbows, knees, kicks, and even some takedowns) they will be able to beat most boxers. boxing is certainly impressive but the mastery of those extra capabilities can truly make a difference in who the victor is
@@Alles2007 yeh, that’s a good point but if you’re only gonna stick to a martial arts for a few months u might aswell not do any but if you wanna learn some quick defences n that I agree boxing would be great but everyone does boxing now, so it’d be very close between u n the other guy but if u intend to stick to a martial arts, I would say Muay Thai usually would win
