Kung fu Is an umbrella term for all of the Chinese martial arts. The same way kenjutsu is an umbrella term for all Japanese sword related martial arts excluding iaido and kendo, so technically yes Kung fu is a martial art you just have to be more specific when you say “I train in Kung fu”
Karate is shit nowadays. Real karate which was called okinawa te is deadly. Gojuryu is also nit bad but there no point in not hitting the head in sparring

Takewondo - against untrained will work, but if faced kick-boxer, it's an L every time for takewondo. Karate - trains speed... makes your PP... ops, I mean hands hard. Aikido - unless! Muay Thai - one of the top Marshall Arts out there! Master it will take you at least 10 years! Very true. If people wants to know what art suit them, its going to be the one they use in a real fight. If youre a martial artist, the arts will just be there naturally without having to think. In a real fight, theres no time to think. I had been involved in a couple of short fights and what came out naturally from me is 60 percent muay thai and 40 percents are whatever when i personally like kung fu more. All martial arts are great. But its not about the art, its the artist.
Being a martial artist and being a fighter are two different things. Most traditional martial arts schools train you to be a martial artist and they usually train either to score points in tournaments or to perform demonstrations doing katas and breaking boards, and a lot of those practitioners can achieve the highest rank in their discipline but never or rarely actually fight or don’t have any fighting record. Fighters fight for living and they train to either finish or dominate their opponents in front of spectators.
Thank you, sparring and competition are essential in learning how to fight. If you can’t properly execute your techniques against a fit, well-trained opponent who is genuinely trying to beat you up, or a partner, who while still fit and well trained, isn’t trying to beat you up, you have no reason to believe you can do so anywhere else.

Wdym in silat you can't hit on head and is mostly based on kicks I took silat classes for a year and I will say it is not that usefull in street fighting

Fact : all this martial arts are came from an indian martial art called kalaripayyttu. The oldest and deadliest martial arts in world. Other like karate , judo and kung fu are developed according to their culture and modern times . But sadly kalaripayyttu didn't. Because when britishers came to india they ban this art . And never became popular like others martial arts till now
