    Nice review mate. I went with the Major Craft Triple Cross TCX-1062HH (not listed in your review) as a backup rod to my Apia spinning rod targeting big 50-70cm mangrove jacks, medium size GT’s and grouper off the rocks. Till next tide, stay safe out there and keep fishing 👍🏼

    I love my daiwa db 962, very good rod for stickbait, only down side is, when you try casting anything over 90, it struggles, it can cast, just not as good, i found sweet spot to be between 50-80grams

    How is the size difference between the saltiga 10000 and 14000? I can’t decide between the 8000 and the 10000 model

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew

      8000, 10000 & 14000 all share the same body, just different size spool. It depends what fish you're targeting & what rod you will be pairing it with.

    If youre pairing your saltiga 14000 with 50-65lbs line (80lbs max) a rod rating to PE6 should be a perfect match. Keen to see what you end up choosing though. 🤙

    Hey mate is a one piece rod more sensitive than a two or three piece?

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew
      @TeamKingiesFishingCrew  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't say it's more sensitive. The more expensive 2 or 3 piece rods can be sensitive & strong, but you get what you pay. The 1 piece rods in theory has less points of failure, but we fish land based, so a 1 piece rod will not work for us while travelling.

    Great review...expensive though! A lot of rock fishermen these days seem caught up in the expensive world of high end reels, braids, leaders, lures, rods etc...still means more drummer and blackfish for me! Not sure how you run it by the missus though, as everything you use seems a tad expensive??

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew
      @TeamKingiesFishingCrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Frank, you're spot on. My gear is getting more expensive, even though I catch most fish on my Sienna set up 😂... i thinks it's just the feel of having premium gear, but definitely not a necessity.

    why happened with maikuro rod? too heavy?

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew
      @TeamKingiesFishingCrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Maikuro is a 7 foot rod (10-24kg), too short for rock fishing. It's relatively heavy & doesn't cast well. It's great for its price, but I wanted something nicer.

    • @jimferdyyu2032

    @jac2384 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why are you weighing the rods?

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew
      @TeamKingiesFishingCrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people weigh reels, but forget that the weight of the rod also contributes to how comfortable it is to cast lures all day. So we wanted to test this. Plus the more expensive rod makers always advertise that their rods are strong and light.

    Assalamu alaykum brother love your videos man, bro I was confused on what rod to get the seajigger, penn prevail and the demon blood but after watching this I made up my mind, THE DEMON BLOOD IT IS lol, only thing I’m stuck on now is Daiwa saltist ltd or shimano saragosa, what size saragosa you recommend for the demon blood

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew
      @TeamKingiesFishingCrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wa'alaikumussalam... I would love to say the Saltist, but the Saragosa has been a proven for me. The only problem is that it has less drag than the Saltist. I have the 8k & 5k size in the previous model. 5k is great on the Demonblood, but you would struggle on a 80cm+ kingy. Another option is the Penn Slammer 3, some of the boys love it.

    • @buzznnn9066
      @buzznnn9066 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TeamKingiesFishingCrew thank you heaps brother, I’ve looked at the penn slammers amazing reels with line capacity, I recon to be on the safe side I’ll just go for the saltist and do a full Daiwa combo, I’ve looked at the saltist ltd 5000 it can take 400m of 40lb braid with 10kg drag you recon the 5000 saltist is perfect or go up a size to the 6500?

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew
      @TeamKingiesFishingCrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just remember that Saltist sizes are not the same as Shimano sizes. The Saltist 5k is the same size as Saragosa 8k.

    I highly doubt a mid-range rod is 300 to 500. The way I see rods is entry level is $100 mid-range is 100 to $300 hi and rod is pretty much anything above 300.

    • @TeamKingiesFishingCrew
      @TeamKingiesFishingCrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Valid point brother. We've had some great rock fishing rods between $100 to $300, but there is then a jump in quality to rods from $300 to $600. Anything above $600 is just luxury 😁
