Hi from Australia! 🇦🇺 While recovering after a recent surgery I discovered your chanel and now I'm bloody addicted! Phillip reminds me of every Aussie guy when he's not bothering with instructions 🤣 You have both given me great entertainment during my recovery. Thank you.
“Whatever device you use to sell you identity and soul”. ha ha ha Phillip. My brother said the exact same thing when he was connecting his inside house lights to Alexa. LOLOL :-)
This was precious. Please make sure you keep the part where you and your daughter are dancing away somewhere safe. She deserves to know she had a really cool dad.
I loved seeing the little girls following Anna and Marie around the garden, setting the scene for a lifetime love of flowers and gardens. The chateau grounds are looking wonderful Philipp.
I read: At the season's end, when the rhubarb starts dying down, each piece that is falling to the ground will carry acidity in it. With time, acidity from the pieces that are composted to the soil reduces the surrounding soil's pH'. The stalks must be a healthy red to cook something fully flavorful with it. It seems your pale stalks did taste ok though, so good for you.
My grandfather used to grow alot of rhubarb, but he would put an old bucket with a hole in the bottom upside down over his, so the leaves poked out the top and the stems stayed in the dark. That way they went red and tasted sweeter.
It is very evident that Philip is a filmmaker. These logs are very professionally made. Just the right amount of humor, instruction, and real life. Thanks for sharing your Château with us.
Phililp you have this mesmerizing quality, especially when you look directly into the camera and talk to me (us). Luv the sense of humor. You have an adorable daughter too. 🌼
Anna my dear... your rhubarb has gone to seed. This is good news really because it means more new plants eventually🥳🥳🥳. Maybe your new plants would appreciate a shadier situation with more moisture. In UK, it is not advisable to pull Rhubarb after the end of July. Incidentally, you pull Rhubarb...you don't 'snip' it. I always love to see your vlogs. Thanks for sharing. xxx
Anna please buy a gardening book if you want to have a vegetable garden as some parts of vegetables can be poisonous or upset your stomach. Rhubarb is know to upset your stomach and parts of them are poisonous so arm yourself with as much info as you can get. You can change the colour of the Hydrangeas yourself if you want, there’s something else you can try. Good luck with all your plans. Tell your husband to talk to the neighbours about the animal control they will know how to help without shooting something or someone especially the bore.
@@HowToRenovateAChateau don't worry about having eaten the rhubarb late in summer. the sayings that it shouldn't be eaten later in summer due to higher oxalic acid are myths. and in fact the leaves, which contain far more oxalic acid than the stems which we eat, still contain less than spinach, which we don't consider poisonous at all! i guess what i'm saying is - that crumble looked delicious and i'd have happily eaten it. :-)
Oh my goodness I was laughing so hard over the crumble. What a great vlog. The ending with your daughter was such fun, and the muscles made my mouth water,. Marie makes the most beautiful bouquets and I feel your pain over the wildlife destroying your trees and beautiful lawn. A frustrating battle for sure! Years ago my dad installed motion detector radios around his property. It would turn on when a large animal was nearby and scare them away. My parents had beautiful gardens so the radio idea seemed successful. Anyway I love everything about your vlogs from the music to the children, your humor, Anna’s talent and sweetness but most of all the love you have for one another. 💕
Love the ending with your daughter and Philip. Such a sweet moment. Marie's flower arrangements never disappoint. Can't wait for Anna's interview with her. A dog would help with the wild life. So would spraying the plants with a product called Deer Fence. Really enjoyed the humor mixed in with the beauty of your chateau. 😍😘
Yes Lady Anna, you are doing a fine job as a whole!!! I appreciate all the work you have done!!! My hat goes off to you!!! For sure, have a blessed week!!!
Have you guys thought about doing ambience videos? I have seen your second grant chateau tour lately with the snowy calm scenes in the beginning of the video in which Philipp (I hope that is how his name is spelled) narrated something. I absolutely adore it and I kept on replaying one particular sequence. Maybe you could film about an hour or two hours of video footage about the chateau from the outside or/and the inside, accentuating it with calm classical music as you do normally. I think it would particularly be lovely in winter! Of course that is different from what you "usually" upload but I think it is worth a try, I would watch it and replay it whilst doing homework and reading! :)
In Germany we say you shouldn’t eat/pick rhubarb after the end of June because it accumulates too much oxalic acid and that s pretty unhealthy. Might be untrue… Thank you for the great videos!
I use a spray on my woodland plants to stop deer. Also peeing around plants doesn’t hurt, Phillip, just don’t film it. Young trees need a wire fence around them till they are large enough to be unattractive to deer. Love your daughter’s humour.❤️
True, humans who mark their territory, like animals do, do sometimes benefit with successes such as discouraging pesky varmints from eating the garden. Not sure about the boars though. Perhaps, next time there is a local boar hunt, send your thank you's to the hunters with a nice picnic. Without weed pie, of course. Or, perhaps, depending on the type of weed you use.
@@waltercook4868: the hormones in the human urine is what wards off all sorts of animals. There are different types of rhubarb, just like different types of apples. Some are red-ish on the stalk, but some also just stay green. I have three different types in my own garden from different parts of the world.
Also the early stalks are the nicest, the older big ones can get woody. A bucket over them when the plant first breaks will give you sweet tender pink stalks.
We were watching the vlog when Phillip was talking to Alexa and our Alexa answered him….way too funny! Love your vlogs! Definitely need more father daughter “doorbell” raps!

I love watching you both with the girls. Sorry about your lawn. Last night our friendly neighborhood armadillo ate my begonias and rooted up half the flowers in my tiny garden. This morning a very large male squirrel chewed through the screen on my porch to wreak havoc. I found 3 other holes hidden behind plants.

So nice and enjoyable. Nice to see Marie and your lovely daughters. Too bad about your lawn, hope things settle down, I know skunks in Canada will rip up an entire lawn looking for grubs. I haven't even finished the video and the video is 2 years old now but it got me thinking back to when I lived on a farm and had a dog. The squirrels didn't dare set foot on the ground on our property let alone deer grazing on our trees - she never caught any of the animals but she was enough of a deterrent for them to up sticks and move elsewhere.

I live in the country outside of Brantford Ontario 🇨🇦. We have all the previously mentioned animals but squirrels are literally driving us nuts. They store nuts in our garage for the winter. Not a few nuts, but large garbage cans full of nuts. My bike had nuts in between the spokes, the lawn tractor was covered in nuts and like a comedy movie the nuts poured out of a cupboard when opened. What a mess! At least they don’t smell like the skunk that lived under our old shed. Skunk smell is something that is truly horrible and lingers on whatever it touches. 🦨
As always, loved this vlog post! And, so sorry about the animal destruction but I agree that when you get a dog a lot (but not all) of that will be a thing of the past. Marie's bouquet is beautiful and I look forward to watching her interview with you, Anna, on her channel. Glad to see the smart doorbell installation but especially the jam session!
OMG guys.......you had me laughing from start to finish today: Hunters License, Rhubarb, animal neighbors, etc. lol It n must be an English persons thing with that high pitch "Hello", "GOODBYE", "Dan The Gardener, where are you? You Who" lol I hear that last in my sleep as Stephanie says that all the time in her high pitched Voice. lol I am not much into seeing kids in Vlog much but I must admit the last "clip" in the Vlog with Phillip and his daughter chocked me up a bit it was such a precious moment between the two of them. :-) MY VERY FAVORITE: "Boots and Shorts match...as long as no one knows we are married". ha ha ha ha
Anna and Phillip Greetings from Minnesota where Rhubarb grow wild! My husband and I enjoy the glimpse into your relationship during remodeling. You remind us of us in our early years of marriage! We are currently on our 4th home remodel. My favorite way of cooking Rhubarb is to add 1/2 cup water & 1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon in a saucepan. Add suger or honey to taste. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring frequently. I end up canning and freezing the sauce. We love the sauce over vanilla or cocoanut ice cream or in a custard pie. I hope you enjoy. Someday we hope to travel to France and stop for a visit. Beth Davis
Ana and Phillip complement each other so much. Her genuine nature and artistic capabilities make the chateau come to life. Philip’s indomitable good sprit and humor rounds out this duo. It’s no wonder they make such wonderful parents and there so is much that people especially young people can take away from this channel. What the two of them are doing is noble work and by that I’m referring to their love for each other which allows them to shower that love with their daughters by example. These two honestly give me hope for the future.
Great video with the kids , love the Smart door bell ; my hubby put one in our New home last week, so if you are away from home you can see and speak to the people at your door, Cheers from Canada
Beautiful rhubarb! Don’t cut them, just twist them, it’s the best method for the plants. And don’t harvest more than 2/3, that gives the plant energy to survive until next year. Best luck! Thanks for sharing this with us! Blessings.
Philipp, I also have a deer problem, the best way to keep them off your garden I've ever found is to buy a livestock salt lick for sheep, and place it somewhere out of the way along the edge of your property. The deer are eating the bark off your trees because they're looking for minerals. If you give them the salt lick they'll prioritize the salt over everything else in your garden, especially as we move towards the fall. The second best option is, unfortunately and in all seriousness, the hunting rifle, If your town allows such things. My town hires bow hunters every year to quietly control the population. This is something we have to do because we've pushed out the wolves and mountain lions that would normally keep the deer population in check, so if we don't kill the deer then they destroy everything, gardens and natural ecosystem alike.
That puppy! What a wonderful addition to your family. The girls are clearly smitten. Your kitchen is going to be stunning. Now, the colour choice question. Normally I am all in for green and love the shade you chose. However, the red the Phillip is voting for really pops the red in your grandma’s painting. And, it’s a surprising colour, I think, when you walk into the kitchen. Go for red. And if you really cannot live with it you can always repaint.
How to harvest rhubarb- you need to pull it from the base of the clump so as to keep the sweetest and most flavorful red bottom of the stalk. Never cut the red off. Some varieties have a green stem and some have a red stem. Yours appears to be the green variety. When it has gone to flower it is past its season, though you can cut the flower stalk before it bolts. I am sure it tasted fabulous. You can't go wrong with rhubarb. Gardens are a learning game. Yours looks prolific. Next year you can conquer the weeds. You two are the most perfectly balanced couple! Phillip always makes me laugh, and you have the most brilliant children! Total creative entertainment!
Lady Marie: you need to paint the center piece on the mantel!!! Girl you are amazing!!! Phillip you and daughter are so cute, well maybe you can start a band!!! Keep going, never know !!! Awesome video with Lady Marie. Have a great week!!!
I’m not sure if you will read this due to the time that has past. You can try solar motion detecter lights out in the yard to scare off the boar and deer. As for the garden saving your hair from your brushes and putting them around outer edges of the garden will help keep rabbits away.
By the way, my grandmother told me to cut and eat the rhubarb before it goes to seed. As soon as it starts to send up a a spike that will flower, Cut it off. Then you will be able to harvest the rhubarb for a long time. Keep cutting off the flower shoot as soon as you see them.
Hi Philipp& Anna, wonderful vlog! Philipp you don't need a hunting license for a water gun 😂 ...just make it a super soaker one! Your little girl, when she was looking at the hydrangea's & saw Mickey Mouse...the opening outline looked like Mickey Mouse...great eye she has! Marie's flower arrangement was just so pretty, she always delivers! Papa and daughter installing the 'smart door bell' so cute...she has such a great personality...love it! You guys are such fun parents, they are going to have wonderful fun childhood memories! Thank you for sharing, take really good care of yourselves, stay safe! Much love Kathy x (Ontario, Canada)
Want more intense blues in your hydrangea just add well diluted aluminum suphate. Prefer white and pinks just add some lyme. I LOVE hydrangea, also in their lovely autumn colors!
Another thoroughly enjoyable episode. By the way just wanted to let you know that yes that was rhubarb. Rhubarb doesn’t always have to be red or pink there are green varieties as well and just as a pointer for the future you should never cut your rhubarb because it doesn’t grow back as good the next season you should always pull your rhubarb from its roots. Remember it’s a tuber and if you cut it you’re essentially killing it. I would love to come over next year and do your garden for you you have such a great place there
I was just about to say the same thing. I just harvested all of our rhubarb. I have two varieties - the red and the green. They are both good. I am trying out a recipe for rhubarb wine. Yummy
I'm living Sweden too...and you sure can harvest rhubarb all summer...just keep it out from flowering...and, most of all, fertilize! Grasscut..chickenpoo...make nettlewater

I just love your vlogs! Thanks for sharing your life with all of us.
Lilly is as talented as you both are, she has a great sense for rhythm! Love your family and vlogs
I agree, thanks :)
Once a week is not enough💜💜💜
Reminder to myself: do not watch this on the train. Trying not to burst out laughing was so hard! 😂
I know😂😂😂😂
Something I learned: Pull the rhubarb stems, don't cut. That encourages the plant to send up more stems, and avoids dying bits.
Phillip has a real ability for entertaining. Loved seeing Marie. Thank you for the video.
:-) MY VERY FAVORITE: "Boots and Shorts match...as long as no one knows we are married". ha ha ha ha
I didn't know it was "an English" thing! 'Course, why would I, I'm not English.....
Anna and Phillip
Greetings from Minnesota where Rhubarb grow wild!
This is something we have to do because we've pushed out the wolves and mountain lions that would normally keep the deer population in check, so if we don't kill the deer then they destroy everything, gardens and natural ecosystem alike.
thanks for the tips! we do have too much of them around now...
Oh you are so lucky with your hydrangeas. They are so beautiful and love them and buy them every week!
Another excellent video! Loved the entertainment at the end!
How fun as always! Philip is a riot! So nice to see Marie visiting you! Your girls are adorable! And that looked like rhubarb to me! 🤣
Great vlog as per usual.
I was hoping Marie would conduct the interview while picking flowers. A missed opportunity that one.
Love the door bell. Great idea. Aww lovely Marie bless her. Enjoyed watching thank you x ❤️
Oh that wonderful genius singing child
I still have not seen the completed 4 th guest room. Did I miss an episode? I don't think so. Wonderful family. 🌸
Will come soon!
Thank you
Want more intense blues in your hydrangea just add well diluted aluminum suphate. Prefer white and pinks just add some lyme.
I LOVE hydrangea, also in their lovely autumn colors!
Thanks for the tips!
love the drone footage.." influencer style"... ha ha assessing mowing style.. genius kevel🤣🤣
You guys are an inspiration. I’m encouraged to get put there and get on with it. Thank you for sharing.
Your daughters are precious. The apple did not fall too far from the tree with oldest daughter. Phillip the influencer indeed.
Always love your vlogs! Hi Marie! 🌸❤️ Thank you Anna and Philip for another wonderful visit at your Chateau!
Yummy

Brilliant door help footage so funny. Love the flowers with Anna & Marie.Just love the whole video
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧💐💐
Yes I do think it is rhubarb. In Canada, we harvest the rhubarb in the spring. It is red when it first comes up. Love your videos
I'm living Sweden too...and you sure can harvest rhubarb all summer...just keep it out from flowering...and, most of all, fertilize! Grasscut..chickenpoo...make nettlewater
