    Hey man. Just came across your channel and wanted to say it is really great. I think you should stick with this TH-cam thing because you’ve obviously got a pretty special talent for it. I’d put this up against any of the top watch reviews out there. Camera shots are gorgeous, your opinions are insightful, really well done bud. Subscribed!

      THANK YOU! Seriously appreciate the kind words and taking the time to write that. I'm working on another video now, but it is slow going with the kids, work etc.. But it is definitely fun. Thanks for listening to the rambling.

    It’s very rare that somebody would ask me about the watch I am wearing. The Rolex air king and the FXD Marine Nationale are the rare and only exceptions. I love the FXD It’s a handsome watch and I love its understated look I have replaced the strap with a CNS gray parastrap This watch is 42mm but wears thin and I particularly love the Matt titanium case.

      I need to check out that strap. Thanks for the suggestion!

      Me too I have loads of watches yet nobody ever notices that's why us watching nerds come to these places to pat each other on the back 🤛

    Nice review. I’m quite tempted. The big benefits for us watch nerds is the desk diving super powers. No scratching that NATO on the underside with careful positioning of the metal piece. Whenever I wear a nice watch at a desk in front of a keyboard off it comes to save those desk diving scratches on the desk or arm rests of the chair. With this no such issues. Plus, for gentlemen of a certain (coughs) age there’s that legibility. Funny how we overlook the legibility when out and about - this must have the across the room legibility - quick glance down whether hiking or cycling or skiing and boom there’s the time. Hilarious that we sometimes forget that the watch is there to basically tell us what time it is without having to get the phone out. Yeah great piece for the desk diving week and pull out the big hitters that we baby a little too much on the weekend. Thanks for the great review. What a feather light piece on wrist! Can barely tell you have it on most of the time.

      100% agree. Love the term "desk diving". I have the original Pelagos on the bracelet with the T-fit clasp and they are both great, but the clasp looks like it lost a fight with a raccoon from bumping into the edges of my MacBook.

    Great video, I just picked mine up a couple weeks ago and it hasn’t left my wrist
    The Rolex pieces I have are great but the understated look of this piece makes it easy to just grab n go

      I agree. I love how unpretentious this watch is. It is one of those, "if you know, you know" kind of things. Mine hasn't left my wrist either. I do want to try a few different nato straps to mix it up.

    Great review! I plan to get the blue version this year but largely because I already have plenty of black watches. I think a big part of the feeling underwhelmed by the release was Tudor adding a countdown on their site and flying out a bunch of press for a specific event for a watch that is just a color change. The marketing was overdone, but that doesn’t make it a bad watch

    I'm a BIG fan of the FXD, and find it interesting that it's become the partnership watch for the brand. I have the blue M.N. and it's become my most worn watch. I really like the black, and may have chosen it over the M.N. if it was available at the time, but, I do appreciate the M.N. link, and will keep this forever. If I had one nitpick for the M.N., it should have had a 60 click bezel, not 120, which to me feels too soft and not nearly as good as this black dial version.

    • @chris_shafer
      @chris_shafer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love a bit of red so torn between this and the LHD

    • @chris_shafer
      @chris_shafer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I like the LHD too. The one thing to note that is hard to tell on the photos is that the indices and hands on the LHD are an aged type of white, almost soft yellow. Prior to this FXD I wanted the LHD too, but this checks all the boxes and I prefer the pure white.

    If anything, this review is encouraging me to buy some straps and NATOs for my Pelagos 39. I do love the FXD, and the military heritage behind snowflake dials and snowflake handsets.

    Hi thanks for the really good video, I own & love this model also. I totally share your sentiment about why you prefer your Tudors for everyday drivers over rolex etc. 1 Question I noticed the factory sticker on the side during the video, how comes? When I buy new Tudors I try to keep stickers on for a while until they fall off but the AD usually removes the case side sticker. I'm curious 😊

    • @chris_shafer
      @chris_shafer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure why that sticker was missed by the AD. The rest of the stickers were pulled off. I noticed it when I first unboxed it and meant to take it off, but in the excitement of wearing it I totally forgot. I even forgot to remove it before filming this video. I didn't notice it until I was editing and by that time I wasn't going to reshoot the whole thing!

    And to think the titanium Rolex Yachtmaster is selling for 40k

    Two weeks ago I walked into a Tudor boutique hoping to try on any FXD because every time I went to one previously, there were never any to see or try on. Amazingly enough they had one FXD left from a Tudor event. It was also the black version. I asked to try it on and I wouldn’t let them take it off of my wrist. my wrist is probably the same size as yours and I love the way it looks and fits. Doesn’t matter when anybody else thinks.

    As silly as it seems my dream watch, can’t decide between the MN or black but both are great watches

    • @chris_shafer
      @chris_shafer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely. You can't go wrong with either. I wear a lot of blue so I figured that the black would compliment better so I wasn't so monochromatic all the time.

  • @dougaugustine933

    Nice job with this video. I have the OG Pelagos and I really like it. I think it gets more wrist time than my Seamaster. Do you prefer the FXD over the OG because of the strap and red text on the dial? Anything else?

    • @chris_shafer
      @chris_shafer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The strap and red text are definitely positives for sure. I also like the symmetry of the no date face although a date function is mighty useful. At the end of the day there is a lot of overlap. I also like how the bezel has markings all the way around compared to the OG Pelagos. Again symmetry here.

    They aren't issued anymore because they are pointless in this day and age for divers. We have dive computers now. And a g-shock would be much more rugged and reliable.

      @@bobbydazzler1780 I am glad i don't get it. I never bought into the marketing crap of brands like these. I do like the design though so i bought a nice black Tactical frog FX.

      Untrue. And its a dive watch with a primary function of dive navigation. A dive computer cannot do what this watch is designed for.
