    Thanks for this video. Inkscape is really powerful, but not always intuitive. Videos like this are so helpful!

    Thanks for this video! I worked succesfully with my girlfriend creating some sheets with a lot of names for our wedding guests. A friend who owns a laser cutter is going to cut the names for us but thanks to the video he got the SVG ready to machining!

    Where can I find the right fonts for a laser-engraved score?
    Also, do you have any tips on how to choose the appropriate fonts for laser engraving? Or is there a website you can recommend ?

      Hi! For scoring fonts, it’s best to use single line fonts. You can find paid ones on places like Etsy or Creative Market. Same goes for non-single line fonts that you would do a regular engrave instead of score - you can find paid ones on those same websites or you can download free fonts on a site such as 1001fonts.com. You can use any type of font for engraving as long as you take the appropriate steps to convert it to a vector like I did in this Inkscape video :)

    my engraver still seems to only want to outline the letters and not fill them in when engraving. Stroke is off and fill is on. any ideas?

      Did you do Object to Path after creating the text?

    Is it possible to have an uppercase letter attached to the lower case letters in cursive so I don’t have to glue the word together after they are cut out?

      You would need to attach the uppercase letter by ungrouping it (after you select Object to Path), then select the uppercase letter and move it by just slightly overlapping the next letter. Then, select everything and go to Path - Union.

    This was super helpful. Question: what if I'm importing a font/image svg from Canva to Inkscape. It's not allowing me to follow the same directions. Any ideas?

      Glad this was helpful! Are you trying to upload an image from Canva or trying to download a font? If you upload any svg, you should be able to edit it how you want by selecting it and going to Path - Break Apart, then you can edit the individual pieces.

    How do you get some lowercase letters to “show up” I have lowercase “g” cut off at the bottom

      This has happened to me before and it ended up being something wrong with the font I downloaded, not Inkscape. Did you type it out and select Object to Path, and it still not show up?

    If I misspelled a word after I outlined it, how do I edit the misspelled word?

    • @85thandPine
      @85thandPine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s not a cursive word, you can try to ungroup it by going to Path - Break Apart or selecting the node tool and removing the letter after selecting the individual nodes on that letter, then replacing it by retyping that letter. Otherwise, you may just have to redo it.
