The only thing more exhilarating that watching storms like this, is racing to get home before it hits, and barely making it indoors right before it does
This is the first time I've seen your video, Steven ... wow, what a thunderstorm and the winds, good grief, unbelievable ... I love thunderstorms and this one was a whopper, thanks so much for sharing even though this was 5 years ago, I'm sure you've had several since then. Stay safe! I'm surprised that there are people out and about driving around in this. The amount of lightning is quite spectacular too!
@@stevensmelton Steve not sure how much damage was done, would imagine there were trees down, as well as large branches, perhaps some shingle and roof damage as well this storm meant buissiness and had the bit in it's teeth when it went through
This was incredible!!!!! I've never seen lightning so active! Not even in a movie... I love thunderstorms a lot but I think this one would scare me to actually live through a storm as severe as this one!
I was just watching plane spotting and the wind sounds a lote like a jet engine "amazing" we don't get storm's like yours in San Jose California the weather here is consistently boring! Anyway awesome video nicely done
I know the feeling. I too live in California but in Southern C.A. Specifically, I am in San Bernardino located about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Like you said, we get nothing like the weather in this part of the country unless we get something unusual like the tail end of a hurricane. That happened out here in spring of 1983 and that wreaked havoc literally to just about all of our entire area. But other than that, it is quite boring weatherwise.
That's a Violent Thunderstorm with a lot of lightning and thunder !!!!! It sure is scary !!!!! Imagine if it came in the afternoon on a hot and humid day with the temperature around 90. Thanks for sharing !
Damn, the 'water' was certainly not 'still' on THAT day. I envy your thunderstorms, we get nothing like that here! New subscriber from the looney-run state of California.
I had a chance to Tornado chase there and I said no. I want to look at them from a distance, not get jumped by one. Best $2000 not spent. Props to you for having the balls to stand out there. Great footage. That rain looks like it would sandblast your skin
FYI: Yes I'm totally blind and use text-to-speech software to hear what I'm typing in case I make any mistakes. This way, I'm able to correct them right away. I also love to put the earbuds on at night. I have the screen curtain on, too, which saves battery power.
Steven Melton I from Sacramento! When I was in the military, I got stationed in Dover and at Little Rock AFB. We have boring weather back home in Sacramento versus the weather back east!
This is beyond a severe thunderstorm, there had to be a Tornado in there somewhere. Oklahoma is truly the capital of the world literally for Tornadoes. It feels like you guys offended a deity of some sort and he carries a grudge.
I love to watch severe Thunderstorms as it gets super darl out big huge winds making the trees move all over the place heavy rain i just dont like the Lightning but Thunder if not too loud I love to hear the thunder storms sounds
Great video Steve, try to get as much footage of storms as you can make they are so soothing to watch, maybe even set up to make some sleep videos to post i'm always looking around for nice 8 hour long storms with no loop's.
We very rarely get those type of TS here in NYC. Sometimes they forecast them, it storms in outer lying areas, or in other boros, we get the clouds😎. Anyway, this was great. The sounds peaceful. I'm glad it didn't turn into anything more than a t-storm. Every summer I hear on the news abt devastating tornadoes in the MW. I don't know how you all do it!
Does this kind of weather become normal to people living in areas where this happens a lot? Because in the uk we will get weather only half as bad as this but everyone makes a big deal
THIS boy and girls is a REAL severe thunderstorm the reason very strong straight -line winds blowing at 60+ miles per hour i believe the wind in THIS storm were hitting closer to 70 mph. this is light years in difference than 85% of the other you tube videos posted as "severe thunderstorms" because they have heavy rain ,or frequent lightning,. this storm is rated SEVERE for the reason it producing straight-line winds of 58 mph or greater it MAY have also produced large hail though i saw none in the film clip so boys and girls-- when they say "severe thunderstorm",,,,,,, look at this film BEFORE you slap that label on yours for THIS one in is the REAL DEAL these things are very powerful and the can be destructive they are NOTsome light-to moderate thundershower
I've gone to sleep to this almost every night for a year it's my fav thank you so much for posting
Glad to help. I'll try to add some more long videos in the future!
@@stevensmelton Yes please! Thank you so much in advance.

Steven you should be gobsmacked looking back at this raw amazing footage ❤ 2024 looking back at 2015 😅😅
Glad we don't get thunderstorms like that in Scotland!! - would have to change our underpants three or four times.
I love storms. Would give anything to witness this in person.
some parts of oklahoma gets these every single summer night
@@bluebryce7220no they don’t lol even some parts of Florida doesn’t get storms everyday during summer
Automatic car washes can't compare with that wind and rain That is some rain 😮 felt like I was there
Severe thunderstorms are such a digestive reality. Can’t get enough, especially when there is little or no dialogue.
Thanks! I'll try to keep them coming!
When it rains continuously in Stillwater, the folks say after a while, "still water?!?". 😄
Ba dum tiss*
My roof and walls have a bunch of stuff in them. A lot of insulation. I can hear thunder if it gets very loud. I can barley hear it in my room
Um if that's a normal storm there, that's nutty!!
Them Oklahoma storms look fun!
I like very much this seen. Beautiful havi Rain... very good for farmers. ..👳👌☔☁🌊🌊
listen to the wind roar!!!!! you can hardly hear any thunder over the roar of the wind one steady roar!!!!
Finally someone who doesn’t spend the first 5 minutes recording clouds turning dark! Excellent video you have there 🌩⛈
Thank you!
@@stevensmelton You're welcome!
Looks awesome I like thunderstorms from California we don't get.them great filming just be safe thanks for the video
during storms in 80s power used to always shut off...was memorable. Exciting video
Thank you! I'm fascinated by these storms!
Ah yes very family with this area is that West Hall of Fame Avenue ?
Actually it's looking north on Duck. One of my other videos looks out onto hall of fame though.
@@djmeltdown65 nice cool vid
I LIKE IT WHEN IT RAINS IT'S SOO RELAXING AND PEACEFUL..
THE RAIN PUTS ME TO SLEEP..
Yes
Unless you're outside. That "might" be A different story.
@@AlvinSeville1 . True !!
unless you live in oklahoma haha I use to live there as a kid and the thunderstorms were so brutal.
Sadly, we almost never have thunderstorms where I live.
you did a fine job with camera! just wish pic was bigger
I DO NOT miss those Oklahoma storms!
Winds look closer to 70-80mph than 60, those are some intense gusts!
Try flying kites in that.

Thanx 4 sharing the storm !!!
its back to full screen. weird it sometimes starts at 4:3 screen or flipped .
Omg is it just me or does from 9:25 the tree and two street lights begin to look like a skull with glowing eyes🤤?
Oh my God that’s a hurricane. I want to visit Oklahoma and experience what I’m watching right now.
You should!

Considering the conditions esp wind you did bloody well super video! 👍👍
Best rain video on TH-cam!!!
Thanks!
Nice view of the storm , hearing the wind n rain galore ...
Large Winds. Severe Thunderstorm, Tennis Ball Size Hail. Floods Effect, Supercell. Tornado
So relaxing , thanks .
Looks like no cloud to ground strikes (except at 3:57), but lots of inner cloud lightning and some very heavy rains with wind.
So much lightning with so few thunderclaps. I wonder why? Great storm, thank you for sharing it.
Because the lightning was elevated in the tops of the clouds.
Anytime I see Oklahoma, Texas, and Midwestern states in the titles, I know they’re going to be good.
amazing video, nature showing its true power , does lightning strikes are every second and the rain
Sometimes more than a second but not with this storm.
Awesome storm footage!
Thanks!
weather is such a fascinating thing to witness sometimes. one minute, nothing, then the next it changes intensely
If you don't like the weather in OK just wait 5 minutes...
Superb audio quality! That's the key to getting to sleep so quickly, because if you're totally blind, you don't even need a black screen! Hahaha.
I love these type of rain 😍😍😍
Kind of reminds me of the night Hurricane Andrew coming in. Good footage!
Wow, I bet that was something, thanks!

I miss those Oklahoma storms... I'll come back to them someday, or maybe they'll come to me....
I love Oklahoma...storms 'n all! 👍👍
Texas has some doozies like this. I was in one, many years ago, where the lightning came down in colors: red, blue, and green!!. No joke, no lie.
its been raining and having thunderstorms every day but im astraphobic..i cant do this lol.

My classmate and I chased a couple of times. Check out my not so great video of a tornado that went right by us north of campus. It's on my channel.
The water's not so steel in steel water
3:57 power went out
The wind is just swaying that big bushy tree like crazy !!!
Water was still falling
One thing I like about this video: there is no "Oh My God" being said over and over. Good stuff Steven
Thanks!
A mic wind filter would be appreciated
Hey Steve, great video! Hope to see another storm in the future!
Me too! Thanks!
Huge storm right there. In the UK we only get wee willy winkies
And here is the reason why I would like to live in Oklahoma.
Because I enjoy this kind of weather.
FYI: Yes I'm totally blind and use text-to-speech software to hear what I'm typing in case I make any mistakes. This way, I'm able to correct them right away. I also love to put the earbuds on at night. I have the screen curtain on, too, which saves battery power.
I love storm's like this.. 🤗
That's OK about the camera work. Under the circumstances, that is completely understandable. Great job! A mean looking storm there!
Thanks!
I agree. This storm is amazing! But the video would have been Top 10 with a steady picture.
I wish I had one too!
Nope i prefer this type of video
I prefer real ness no just still images makes it look fake
Such a cool storm!!
Thanks for posting we don't usually get anything like that in Connecticut 😱
Glad you liked it!
Lightning so bright it turned off.the street lights, yep seen that happen before.
Like this thunderstorm people be safe and tornadoes don't get hit
I LOVE this video!!!!
Thanks!
That is one thing I miss about living in the Midwest and the mid atlantic. The storms every season were phenomenal!
Thanks! I'm from California and we have NOTHING like this.

Lightin flashes staying in the sky ...
8 inches of rain.
The tree looks like a big monster !
Great, Great, video!
Thank you!
imagine that hail driven by 60+ mph winds hitting a window
Yikes
This is beyond a severe thunderstorm, there had to be a Tornado in there somewhere. Oklahoma is truly the capital of the world literally for Tornadoes. It feels like you guys offended a deity of some sort and he carries a grudge.
Probably no tornado. Lookslike a small hurricane. But probalby 75 mph winds
Wow!!! That's a nice derecho!!!!!
I think so too!
I love how people are still driving like Taco Bell is truly still worth it
Haha!
I have to watch TH-cam for real storms lol this would be a one in 50yr thunderstorm

(sorry)
OMG! Great capture!
listen to that wind roar!!!!!!!
I like this relaxing vid
Excellent job with this!
Thanks!
7:12 Those streetlights look like two eyes and the tree looks like a moving mouth. It’s a tree monster!
Who's here for the Still water puns?
it may be that you lived a microburst
I knew someone who would run around outside in his underwear during storms. He called the rain "tonkywater".

What was that flash of light in the sky ? , when power went off.
Lightning hit a power pole and caused the power to go out for a second.
Wonderful video keep it up.
This I way crazier then the thunderstorms I seen here in Ottawa
