    Holy!! I’m so glad that health care provider had a department in network. I only paid $180 for the surgery and I’ve heard from my ortho and other doctors the Shes the best in the area. I’m only 8 days post op so we we’ll see how the healing process goes

    Look amazing Kyyah! Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Your story has helped me navigate and make wise decisions before my surgery. I am now 1-week post recovery of double jaw surgery. I still have a long road to recovery but I’m hopeful everything will be just fine. In the meantime, keep bringing the cool videos! They make me smile (underneath the swelling). 🥴 I firmly believe a “jaw correction support group” needs to be started. lol

    Thanks for sharing! I was told I needed jaw surgery when I was in my teens and was nervous about it. Now at 28 I feel ready. Didnt realize this was under health insurance!

    Tomorrow I’ll be 1 month post op DJS + genio. Can’t believe how fast the time has gone. I’m so happy to hear that your recovery is going smoothly. This gives me hope, thank you! So far my out of pocket cost has been $16k for surgeons fee (+$2,500 for orthodontics). Haven’t gotten my hospital bill after in network insurance but the stay itself was $268k before discounts etc. Luckily BCBS pre approved everything so hopefully I’ll have a minimal hospital bill + a high reimbursement.

    Thanks for your updates Kyyah. You're handling things so well. I went through a hell of a trip in the 6 weeks since my MMA. Things are getting better everyday. Also your video editing and vlogging skills are so much better than mine lol. I just filmed a bunch of selfies eryday and mashed them together and suddenly I have 6 hours of footage >

      I was lucky and found a generous surgeon charging $4500 in procedural fee, and the hospital stay is covered here in Canada. The other two surgeons I consulted were 11k. Sorry you weren't able to get things fully covered

    Hey just curious since I'm getting the surgery also, since my tongue pushes against my teeth. Does the jaw surgery help shifting the tongue to a better position? Stop it from pushing against the teeth?

    • @kyyahabdularchives
      @kyyahabdularchives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its so amazing how the human body works. When they move your bottom jaw your tongue changes positions. Whats even crazier is the tongue can change "shapes". This is partially why the jaw gets wired shut so your tongue can get use to its new home. If it new surface area is smaller it needs to get use to that (i.e. shrink). After they removed my wires I originally started to relapse bc my tongue was pushing up against my teeth. More so I was doing it without realizing. Also I started talking way too soon bc I went back to work 1 month ahead of what my surgeon recommended. To help with this i was given class III rubberbands. Anyway...im saying all this to say, dont worry about your tongue. Itll do its thing in recovery and if it doesnt your surgeon and orthodontist will address it promptly.

      @Grace_Zandile97 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your response. I really appreciate. That is so cool that the tongue is in a better position. Yes my jaw surgery is for the bottom jaw . It needs to be pushed back. Had braces in high school but medical aid classified my jaw surgery as cosmetic. I need to start the process all over again as an adult

    You look great! I just got mine 3 weeks ago and my lower chin feels the same way… hoping i get feeling back. Also, insurance companies have been a headache and a half!!! Luckily my doctor is in network and I was told from insurance (aetna), I’d only pay 500 total. Also, check out my swelling post op on my channel lmao, it was pretty bad.

      Hi Matthew, I’m on day 5. How is the feeling of your lower jaw and lips? Are you getting any feeling back? I’m totally still swollen and cant feel anything on my lower jaw and lips. Thanks

    • @leeheat333
      @leeheat333 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davejohnson6144 it's almost back - I'm now 6 months post op and I really started to get it back over the last 3 months. I'm still pretty stiff I will say, especially when I wake up, but it usually gets better throughout the day. It's a slow healing process! Take your time with it - massage your face/neck, use a jade/cold roller, and heating pads to reduce the swelling. I pretty much followed Kyyah's routine to a tee and it helped a lot.
