I mean you have to chose the most calm, normal, and predictable person to be an astronaut in the first place. You are placing an enormous amount of stress and pressure on them, so yeah, they are the best of the best. No wonder these guys are pretty cool.
My heros It's so good to see them smile and laugh. It warms my heart You both made my day- everyday!!! I can't stop watching these videos ♡ Many greetings from Germany.
Americans! That's how I am going to describe these guys. So God bless you guys. This is a special one for me because I am a amateur astronomy, so having Americans go back to the space station is exciting.
Just read the NY Times article on you guys. Looking forward to you making your Celebratory Vomit - which means you have safely made it back! Safe travels, you are caring so many hopes and dreams with you. Bring me back a star to wish on if you can. I promise to share it with anyone who needs to make a wish after I've made mine. You guys ROCK! So proud of you. USA All the way!
I totally agree that Doug seems like an obscure detail kinda guy, if he worked for NASA in late '69 I fully expect he would have been the "SCE to AUX' hero.
Geeez, now FINALLY I see a video, where these two talk like human beings and not like robots. I understand PR and protocol and all the connected necessary BS, but it´s refreshing to see, that these two are cool and funny guys. Fingers crossed & have a great mission! :)
I'll be watching. Hopefully the world will too. It's time for us to get back into space, and make real efforts to stay there (apologies to the ISS crew). We need permanent installations on the moon, and soon enough Mars. Let's go!
1:08 "hee, uuuhh" LOL!! 2:31, Bob's expression!!! "I know EXACTLY what to say!!" 1:04 🍗🐔 Doug's being a chicken!!!! 🤣 "Yeah you can't chicken out like that...🤣" Doug says a LOT of"Uh's"!! 🤣🤣
Astronauts install Solar unit on ISS JEFF FRANKS Houston, Oct.30: Astronauts made a tricky job look easy on Tuesday when they used a robot arm to latch a 17.5 tonne solar girder to its new home at the end of the ISS. Arm operators Daniel Tani and Stephanie Wilson could not see the 35-foot-long girder's destination from inside the station and had to guide it in with directions from from Spacewalkers Scott Parazynski and Douglas Wheelock. "Looks good, spaceman," one of the Spacewalkers said as they performed the task. NASA had said the installation of the truss, which sat atop the station for seven years awaiting the move to its permanent location, was one of the most challenging manoeuvres ever on the $100 billion Space outpost. It also was critical because the next key task will be to unfurl the 240-feet-long (73-metre) solar panels folded up inside the unit. - REUTERS Courtesy: Hindustan Times Kolkata Wednesday 31 October 2007 Vol: VII No: 258.
Interesting remark on vomiting after splashdown from Bob - my understanding is that after a week or so in zero-g you simply don't get uncomfortably dizzy after that, until you reacclimate to Earth g.
@Kyle Denny Yes, I understand that, but it's much the same effect as I understand it. On their training sea trials, acclimated to Earth gravity, they would likely have been seasick. Coming back from the ISS, acclimated to freefall, my prediction is that they won't be.

Dear @NASA Please make following videos less 'zany'. This makes me feel icky, not inspired. Your motto is "For the Benefit of All". Not "For the love of it". Or is SpaceX making you do this?
I felt just a little bit the same way but I'm old enough to remember when astronauts acted like cardboard automatons with zero personality or emotive response. I find this to be a bit refreshing. To a point.

Great interview! Good luck and God Speed to astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley! I will be tuned in every chance I get to cheer you on!
This makes me feel icky, not inspired. NASA's motto is "For the Benefit of All". Not "For the love of it". Or is SpaceX making them do this?
Space dads! Them and Tremor the dinosaur are making history! Can't wait to see the safe return of the Dragon!
