Was very interesting visiting Electrocompaniet in their current location. Without question, they went from humble beginnings to state-of-the-art manufacturing.
My first step into High-end audio, was back in 1990, when I bought an ECI1 (their first integrated amp) It cost 10.000 norwegian kroner back then, and sounded fabulous!! Great memories
In 1977 I never heard this amplifier but my consensus for best amplifier for the late 1970s was what I purchased a great American sound called GAS amp zilla this amplifier was in my opinion the best in the world during that period that could be purchased fairly easily.
I have owned many of their products over the last 30 years. My favourite was the AW220 mono amps from around 2002. I don't think they made them for long?
I know both companies well. Yes, both are Norwegian, but the SoundEngine tech is unique to Hegel -- it's a feed-forward method of correcting amplifier distortion.
@@soundstagenetworkdid you know there is a "better" high end brand in norway called Adyton, started early 80s i think. I used to own elektrokompaniet amp and speakers 20yrs ago, but now only adyton🎉

The AW220 was in production between 1998 and 2022.
@@electrocompaniet7586 Really?? I never saw it on their website and the dealers never had them. If l had known then I'd if bought another pair.
Sounds similar to the Norwegian stereo amplifier company Hegel with their "SoundEngine Technology."

@@dougschneider8243 Adyton was a brand of amplifiers made in Norway. The brand is no longer sold outside of Norway.
