Excellent, thoughtful review, sir.

I have own 2 cadillacs and I will tell you they are the most undependable vehicles on the road. Sure they look great but In 2 years you will have a frustrated owner. It's not marketing that failed it's the brand reputation for dependability.
They are comparing it in price and performance. If you put it to that it’s comparing with the new Acura type S, Genesis G70 3.3t, Kia Stinger GT2, Lexus IS350 f sport, etc the 3 series and C class Benz.
CT5V is what Audi did with their S4 . The S4 was more performance than the 335/C350, but less than a M3/C63. It’s just odd that caddy did the process backwards. But it got people talking. If it was still marketed as a V sport nobody would notice. Who remembers the CTS V-Sport?
Mike, do you feel like Cadillac's decision to lower the price of the CT5 (relative to the last gen CTS) is a move that will help the brand grow sales in the long run? Although the last gen CTS pushed the bar in terms of luxury, the sales were lack-luster because they priced in direct competition with the German brands. The base 3rd gen CTS started at $47k and the V Sport started at over $60k. Now the base CT5 starts at $37k and the V Series at $47k. Folks do have some gripes about the interior not being as luxurious as they'd like but I do believe that it's reflected in the price so ultimately the value is there. And even tho they dropped the HP from 420 (CTS V Sport) to 360 (CT5 V) it makes more sense as a daily driver.
Absolutely correct, as I have a VSport. I have a 2015 VSport Premium 420hp/430ft. Got it 3yrs ago for a STEAL with 3k miles on it and a CPO for half the stick price. The dealer really did not know what he had. I have every option in the car and the final kicker is all of these cars 2014 -19 are limited edition only because of the marketing. They only made 344 total Premium and 321 Standard VSports for that year. The total numbers goes down dramatically each year. 2019 only 77 Prem and 101 standard sold.
I will own a ct5v here soon. Love it. I currently own a 2015 ats 3.6 premium with performance pkg. I love it as well! I still get the "wow" factor everytime I drive it. The more I look at the CT5-V, the more I want one. I'm cross shopping this with the Acura TLX Type S, Audi S5, and Lexus IS 350/500 and so far from a value/total package perspective it's hard not to love. I only have a few gripes with it: First, as a Cadillac, it's a GM. And since it's a GM, there's too much plastic where there shouldn't be. I really wish some of the plastic bits were carbon fiber, leather, suede, or other soft touch materials. It's not enough to bother most, but when you cross it with an Audi A/S5 or Merc, it's noticeable. Second, I wish they'd used better rear brakes. The front brakes are brilliant, but you can tell they cheaped out on the rear, which is odd considering it's a RWD platform. And lastly, like you mentioned, I wish the front brake intakes were larger. Joe Raiti also commented on how the front needs to be (more) functional, so this seems to be a common complaint. I'm sure Cadillac is holding their punches for the Blackwings next year, and then some of those features/finishes will find their way into the mid-performance V lineup. Once those hit, it'll be hard to ignore this.

All of your comments, price, specs etc. about the original CTS-V are not correct. The first gen. had a Corvette LS-6 with 405 hp. and a 6 speed manual. The second gen CTS-V made 556 hp. and the price started at 58K as I recall, I loaded my and paid 62K which included a 3K discount. The third gen. CTS-V, which I currently own, has 640 hp. and started at 86K. Loaded they went for 106K. I paid 96K with an additional discount of 8K. Why? I bought a new 2017 at the end of Feb. 2018. Five months into the 2018 model year.
The CTS V Sport has 420 hp and is at least a whole second faster than CT5 V which has a lot less horse power. CTS V Sport 0-60 4.4 Camaro SS 4.1 #VSportOwner
They market it down a class from the CTS because all the reviewers complained about the CTS rear seat room vs. E class and 5 series. They could have improved rear room by raising the roofline and seat cushion--instead they lowered them to copy Escala styling. But they didn't know the CT6 would be cancelled in NA.
Great review of a fantastic car. I think the name issue is so overblown. Blackwings are coming and as you say, they’re so low volume as to not really provide what most buyers actually want and need.
I'm so torn on what to get. I'm a jeep guy. Been in a Mojave Wrangler for 11 years. It's time for a new ride. Not sure if I should get a new jeep or go with something like this. Hell the new jeeps have almost the same price tag as this caddilac.
Why does nobody ever explain up front that the CT5-V is actually the replacement for the CTS V-Sport? Even then power is down... that being said, I own a V-Sport CTS and had a loaner CT5-V for a week. Both awesome cars, but I’ll keep my old V-Sport. Only thing I liked better about the CT5 was that awesome exhaust.
I’m sorry but you’re worried about the wrong things when it comes to this beast of a Cadillac! This is one of the best vehicles Cadillac has EVER MADE!!
9:00 there is probably a good reason for the SD card slot to be located there: The camera is probably nearby, and having longer cables limits the speed the camera can push data into the card which translates to video quality.
Mate, seriously. Redline could be 6250 but torque and bhp curve peaks, right! SD card in the back coz of security since it records in valet mode and this could be critical footage.
I compared one then bought a stinger for over 20k less.Stinger is a better--faster more sporty more reliable car--also has a 10 year 100k warranty. This car is similiar to an A6--i rent a6 Audis on business trips cause this caddy and the Audi are better long distance tourers--seats better and suspension better for long trips then my Stinger. The a6 in sport mode feels like my stinger in comfort--the caddies I have driven sit up high like he said and are better long distance tourers for sheer comfort.BTW because of taxes I rent cars instead of driving my stinger on the 3 or so business trips I do yearly.caddies--maximas and normal audis are better tourers and less sport cars. Not a bad car--but the sportier versions in this class--like Stinger--S5 or S6--some AMG lower end mercedes will dust this in a straight line.

Is this faster than the CTS-V sport. The CTS-Vsport had 400hp.
The CTS V Sport has 420 hp and is at least a whole second faster than CT5 V which has a lot less horse power. CTS V Sport 0-60 4.4 Camaro SS 4.1 #VSportOwner
You are spot on in your evaluation of the CT5-V.
Thanks Elliot!
Yet i find this more attractive car than the 2020 corvette
They market it down a class from the CTS because all the reviewers complained about the CTS rear seat room vs. E class and 5 series. They could have improved rear room by raising the roofline and seat cushion--instead they lowered them to copy Escala styling. But they didn't know the CT6 would be cancelled in NA.
Don’t listen to the negative comments. The video and content is great.. your suppose to use your hands while talking .
Next yr the CT4/5 get the full digital dashboard
Yes! Excited to see how it looks!
Wish they wud just use the one from the 2021 Escalade...but I hear that will eventually trickle down into all models
36 inches of OLED!
I'm a purist I don't like the digital analog
@@JCRFit I'm 50/50 on the digital dash. Its cool, but I like a nice set of needles also.
Really love the style and content of your vids. I should’ve subscribed a while ago.
Really appreciate that!
Using my 2.0t ATS as reference, the shifting point running to redline is actually quite annoying due to how the torque curve hits, just saying
Great review of a fantastic car. I think the name issue is so overblown. Blackwings are coming and as you say, they’re so low volume as to not really provide what most buyers actually want and need.
Exactly, which is such a low volume car that will be sweet once it does arrive. However now they have one that you can use everyday.
@@ACCELER8TV Precisely. I love the halo cars, and I can’t wait to see them, but more choice is only good for the consumer!
New subscriber here. Good review! 👍
Thanks for the sub!
I really like your review. Subscribed.
Appreciate that!
Great video 🖤🤙🏻'
It might be outdated but would you review a CT6?
Amazing review. I’m def getting this car next
Thanks man!
CT5v or Stinger GT? Similar power, rear biased AWD, classy interiors, but the stinger comes loaded at the base CT5v price... hmmm
They still look insanely good
It's a nice looking car isn't it!
And how much does it cost???
Bring back manual v cars in coupe sedan and wagon form. V8 supercharged with awd
With the Blackwing CT4 And CT5, they will be Manual
nice review.. Subscribed 👍
I’m sorry but you’re worried about the wrong things when it comes to this beast of a Cadillac! This is one of the best vehicles Cadillac has EVER MADE!!
What color is this car ?
Really admire your style, approach! I want one!!!
I just can’t take this car serious after the review Matt from smoking tire gave it. He said the transmission was straight trash !!!!!
Something was up with that, mine shifts fine.
Great review I agree totally with everything you were saying!
The best review I have seen on this car yet. Hold this subscription my guy. Great vid.
Really appreciate that thank you very much!
@@ACCELER8TV Anytime, I cant wait until you get your hands on a G70 or 80. Your camera angles and lighting will really bring out the beauty of those cars.
Wouldn't you say the G70 is a direct competitor to this car?
luv it,luv it,gotta have it
I don’t like the piped in sound of the engine on any vehicle.
I prefer a quiet cabin.
Love your work, one of few reviewers I usually agree with as well lol. Video work is excellent. If I could make one suggestion though. In the studio or garage a lot of your videos are really dark. The darker cars don't help either. But you need more light on the sides of the cars. Same issue here as with the 340i review as well. Just can't see the details.
Thanks man!
Will do all some more lighting!
@@ACCELER8TV very minor thing, video is quality work.
WOW 😮! Now Cadillac competes with small and mid size German sedans
one of cadillac best car ever made
I actually am going to buy one, it looks nice, and great price...gona get one.
Good choice!
Great review !!!
