One particular thing I love about this song is how your voice becomes more "distressed", in a sense, the longer the song goes, as if you were really delving into insanity and having to go through tons of shit. In my opinion, this song fits perfectly with the game aesthetic: Its not a bone-chiller, it is a "madenner", and what best to throw you "Into the Mind" than Dark Rock? ROCK ON, GAV!!! Level 5 is looking more suculent by the minute :)
Arseniy Yavorśkyi the sequel was so slept on, it’s crazy. It’s disappointing that people aren’t into this series that much, one of the best series I’ve ever played

me: I just beat this game yesterday, and i told myself: "a great fu**ery in its ending, but a excellent game nonetheless with the beautiful "Long Way down" song in its credits" Then i see and listen this. and i am like: "wow this would make a nice alternative to "Long way down", he got the talent"
miracleofsound Gotta have to give you recognition, this song made me subscribe and buy the song, amazing job, and the directional audio really gave it the proper creepy(ish) effect. Once again, amazing job and thanks.
miracleofsound I second that this is excellent! Not only the lyrics but the music is a perfect blend. I always love your guitar :) thank you for sharing another great piece.
I've always wondered, Gavin: Do you play every single game that you sing about or it's just a sniff here and there from TH-cam that you see and then your mind creates the magic?
I dont think he plays them all, or at least before writing the song since he sometimes create songs about games thar arent released yet (like My Revolution or Destiny)
I play all of them. Sometimes it's not until after the song comes out, as with Assassin's Creed (It's easy to write songs about those before they come out due to strong continuity in the lore and Ubi being very helpful with giving me details) but yeah I play them all :)

But at the same time, I do appreciate you challenging yourself and doing all genres, because if you weren't this way, a lot of these masterpieces wouldnt have been created. THANK YOU!!!
Wow, the "I'm over here" use of the stereo in my headphones is amazing. Love it when left and right channels are noticeably different in a way that fits the song that well.
God I love this game. The Evil Within is probably one of my absolute favorite games and seeing more music based on it gives me so much serotonin. I'm absolutely not disappointed one bit.

Jaxir Raywhisper Wow, what do you have against anime fans? I understand if you won't trust his help, but to tell him to go kill himself because he has an anime profile picture? That's just plain fucking wrong. I actually took offense to that post considering that I happen to like anime.
Gav, I truly love your songs! This one is so awesome and really speaks to me since I have dealt with bipolar depression for many years, but it has taken a more poignant turn since recently my spouse and I have separated due to his severe psychotic schizophrenia symptoms. The lyrics really feel appropriate for what I imagine he might be going through. But that's just a guess, since his delusions and paranoia have made him hostile and threatening toward me. It's a very heart-wrenching condition to see a loved one suffer. Also, your 'Calamity' song has been an anchor for me during this trying period. Thank you.
Absolutely love the feeling to this song. You have a fantastic talent with your music. Truly you weave emotion and words in a truly eerie perfection. Hiting band camp right now. Keep up the phenomenal releases. You are honestly one of the best artist releasing work right now
Holy shit a new game that I've actually played! I was sort of hoping you would do this one, annnd now it's here, and as usual it's....I'm sick of saying awesome, so I'll just do this. Even without the music video (which helps) I can still see the visuals of this game through the lyrics. That's a common thing you've managed to be able to pull off, but the guitar here really helped to set the mood. It keeps the music's theme feeling edgy, and you've managed to capture the feeling of apprehension all through this song. The tension I felt when the lyrics "over here" came into play is nearly indescribable. I can't imagine how long this must have taken you to pull together, since I don't make my own music I can't begin to imagine the work you must go through, but it pays off. In case it was missed you've got my full support. I bought a chug a mug of mead mug from you already (and I use it every day...it is so stained with coffee now XD), but I'm about ready to start buying all of your music as soon as I get a computer that will hold it. My chrome book has no disc drive, but once that changes, I'm buying like, every track you have. Cheers, good wishes, never stop making music, and all other fan-phrases I can think of. XD ~Red
Thank you very much. It takes quite a lot of work to put the songs together, usually anything from 50-100 hours. But I love it! [clinks mead mug] Cheers!!!
But they they wouldn't have been able to pretend they're a psychological horror game when they're actually just an action game wearing the skin of one - like dead space!

I might be the only one who thought BOTH the game and song were amazing, the off-kilter melody really gave the song a haunting theme to it, very cool and the "I'm over here" part was just eerie...awesome work as always
You know, one day you should think about doing a Silent Hill based song. You nailed this one and I bet you could do SH justice too. I haven't listened to this one since you put it out here on YT but I've been playing Silent Hill 2 all day and when I heard this it hit me.
Coming back to this song because I couldn't get it out of my head for the past SEVERAL WEEKS, and also finally played the game. I see this remark of yours is old, but I just want to say that your songs are consistently so unfathomably good that "a lot of time & effort" just doesn't seem like enough. If you won't give yourself credit for a surplus of talent, we your fans will.
Great song again, really liked the idea of the I'm Over Here in stereophonic. Regarding that part, here's a tip from a guy who works in a radio station : you should never go full 100% on each side, keep between 10 and 30% on the other side in case someone listens to it with one speaker who only plays 1 side.
I'm aware of how the stereo spread works, lol. You can't produce music without that very basic knowledge. The 'I'm over here' was a once off - I panned those parts extreme L & R especially for people on headphones, to creep them out. It's a technique often used by bands like NIN who know they have a lot of listeners who don't listen on crappy mono/left side only devices. This song isn't really made for radio, it's made for my audience who mainly listen on headphones/speakers ;)
miracleofsound And guess what? It worked! I WAS creeped out. :s I'm gonna be honest, this song was so good, it literally creeped into my veins my head, stayed there for many, many hours and I couldn't sleep until 5am. Good job Gav. :D
Talk about a song to listen to while you play the game in a boss fight... Man... You want some decent quality goosebumps... -Shiver.- You did an outstanding job on this one Gavin. I am so glad that this song was made! Keep up the outstanding job!
Darn it all...now I'm even more impatient to get a new rig so I can play this game.... Anyway, another badass addition to my Miracle Of Sound playlist. Thanks Gav for your hard work and dedication! :D
This song fits this game so well, IMO. One of my favourite things about the game is how you're constantly travelling down, going deeper and deeper. I don't know what it is, but I just think it's cool. Every level in The Evil Within ends with you going down a ladder or a hole, or falling from some high place. It gives you this overwhelming sensation that you're travelling to the bottom of the earth. Silent Hill 2 and Dark Souls 1 + 3 also have you journeying deeper and deeper at certain points, and I love it in those games, too. It's especially mentally draining in Silent Hill 2.
Isolation definitely beats this game, because they actually build up the tension. And it doesn't have a ridiculous amount of blood and gore in it. The Evil Within is....laughable
TheGreyWolf Ya..so much better than hide and seek with an enemy you can shoo away with a little flamethrower shot. I'd call Isolation laughable for making so many areas completely safe and ruining any tension.
look at the 2 comments below, that is basically the explaination of horror. Either you're scared when your defenseless or scared of being overwelmed with impossible odds of death. Thats why fear is subjective.
Its why this game is met with mixed feelings just like Alien, just like any horror game. I love this game, i like Alien Isolation is meh. Then there are those who feel the exact opposite. 2 different sides of horror.
This is a great piece of work. The moment the refrain starts with "and the walls are closing" it gave me chills. Despite being absolutely ridiculous in the third act, your song captures and enhances exactly the parts the game has done right.

Oh my god! I was wondering where I'd hear this voice from and it wasn't until I listened to my favorites list I saw that you also did Joker's Song. (By the way great stuff!) I love this one too! Brilliant!
*AMAZING* song. Awesome (video) editing. (Amazing is better :P) You're a fucking natural (talent), Gav, if I havn't told you that already. Bless you for this "charity donating" (LOL), I just love you're songs. You're one talented badass.. *P.S:* A while ago me and my cousin were listening to your songs on Bandicamp... Then we noticed the writing at the right that said (that you are from) "irland". My cousin was amazed. It's nothing racist, yea? So you won't get it wrong. It's just about the very bold accent, *THAT YOU DON'T BLOODY HAVE!* And it's *amazing!* *P.P.S:* A few days ago I searched "miracle of sound" on google to get to your youtube channel (I usually type it right away on TH-cam, but I was on my phone), And the first search result on the list was of Wikipedia... *AND GUESS WHAT!* You had *NO BEARD* in the photo! You look *TOTALY* different! *Keep on rocking that beard!!* (I don't say you don't look good without the beard, I just say it's *fucking badass*, and it really fits you ;) )
It took me 8 years... 8 fucking years, to realize both this song and the game reflected my similar experiences with mental illness... I... I'm not sure how to describe how I feel. I feel I'm a way that I'm seen, but also that I jave not been seen
Gavin, you're great at doing what you do and thanks for all the music you've created. Sincerely, someone who's got all your albums in his playlist daily at work.
Can't wait for The Evil Within 2 only 6 more weeks now, loved the first one (even made it through Akumu hehe ;) and this song/video is amazing, thank you Miracle of Sound!
I just had a thought. I wonder how much worse Resident Evil 7 would have been if Ruvick existed in that universe and had a hand in Umbrella Corp's experiments with the fungus. The results would've likely been even more lethal.
Love this song. One of my all time favorite songs actually. Never even played the game =) But considering doing it sometime in the future thanks to this song. You're amazing.
5 stars. This song was more appropriately creepy and off-kilter than the game itself. Great mastering in the bridge for those with headphones, and I enjoyed how sometimes your voice would quaver at the start of a line to stop the melody being predictable.
One particular thing I love about this song is how your voice becomes more "distressed", in a sense, the longer the song goes, as if you were really delving into insanity and having to go through tons of shit.

2 years later this is still one of my personal favorites.
This is the best song Gav has done in years, love the chord progression and solo

You're one talented badass..
*P.S:* A while ago me and my cousin were listening to your songs on Bandicamp...
Then we noticed the writing at the right that said (that you are from) "irland".
My cousin was amazed. It's nothing racist, yea? So you won't get it wrong. It's just about the very bold accent, *THAT YOU DON'T BLOODY HAVE!* And it's *amazing!*
*P.P.S:* A few days ago I searched "miracle of sound" on google to get to your youtube channel (I usually type it right away on TH-cam, but I was on my phone), And the first search result on the list was of Wikipedia... *AND GUESS WHAT!* You had *NO BEARD* in the photo! You look *TOTALY* different! *Keep on rocking that beard!!* (I don't say you don't look good without the beard, I just say it's *fucking badass*, and it really fits you ;) )
Cheers :) And I do have an Irish accent when I talk, I just sing with an American one sometimes haha :)
Thank you, Gavin, for another amazing song to an already amazing MoS playlist! Cheers, mate!
It took me 8 years... 8 fucking years, to realize both this song and the game reflected my similar experiences with mental illness... I... I'm not sure how to describe how I feel. I feel I'm a way that I'm seen, but also that I jave not been seen
I've listened to this song around Halloween every year since it was posted. It gets me really excited for spooky season.
I never thought that my favorite game would ever get a fan made song for it. I absolutely love this💙
Preciso jogar esse jogo outra vez!!!!
This song and this madness caused in me ecstasy! Excellent work!!!
Gavin, you're great at doing what you do and thanks for all the music you've created.
Sincerely,
someone who's got all your albums in his playlist daily at work.
My God...what is this masterpiece?
Can I subscribe again? And again... and again.. I think you get the point.. Amazing as usual, Gav.
Can't wait to see what you come up with for the sequel, Gav!
New favorite song.
Speaking of which, Gavin, do you have a new favorite song of yours?
that is amazing how you added the evil within game! that is Badass.
This game is amazing, and Miracle of sound gives it an awesome song. :)
by far your best one yet! this was amazing
Can't wait for The Evil Within 2 only 6 more weeks now, loved the first one (even made it through Akumu hehe ;) and this song/video is amazing, thank you Miracle of Sound!
I love how dark this song is. You couldn't have picked a better time of year to produce this song.
песня отличная спасибо тебе большое! удачи в твоём творчестве.
This is really well done bravo
I just had a thought. I wonder how much worse Resident Evil 7 would have been if Ruvick existed in that universe and had a hand in Umbrella Corp's experiments with the fungus. The results would've likely been even more lethal.
It whould be the worst world
Wow, I thought this was official at first. Very neat song! Got it stuck in my head for 3 days now...
Best song from Miracle of sound.
You never cease to amaze me sir! Great job as always!
Love this song. One of my all time favorite songs actually. Never even played the game =) But considering doing it sometime in the future thanks to this song. You're amazing.
This was top notch! Well done! I love the directional audio! Great song! Can't wait for the next!
This is so perfect! Excellent song💜
This is seriously awesome! I had to go buy a copy right away. Great work, bravo :)
5 stars. This song was more appropriately creepy and off-kilter than the game itself. Great mastering in the bridge for those with headphones, and I enjoyed how sometimes your voice would quaver at the start of a line to stop the melody being predictable.
Gavin. Gavin. Gavin. This is fucking badass. You've no idea. Seriously. It's brilliant.
Bloody brilliant! I need to play this game!
Love this game, and this song. Excellent work.
The instumental in this is spot on! Great work as always :D
